Pros: Unique, functional interior, fuel economy ratings, low price compared to Vibe/Matrix Cons: Many will not care for the styling, driving position, cheap interior The Bottom Line: I find the unique mixture of attributes intriguing, but am put off by the driving position and interior materials.
A dozen years ago word was that Chrysler had taught the Japanese a thing or two by giving the then-new Neon a healthy dose of style and a very low $8,995 base price. It seemed that an American company could still create a viable small car. Sales were ...

Pros: Baby-Ram styling, clever interior features, low base price, hatchback versatility. Cons: Vague steering, excessive road noise, cheap interior materials, poor visibility, Prius-grade acceleration. The Bottom Line: Like Saturn's ill-fated compact, the Caliber has a strong basic platform, but feels hastily designed and "unfinished." Unless styling is your primary concern, there are better choices.
My Experience Can you remember the last time Dodge was considered a major player in the compact market? Unless you recall the buzz surrounding the 1995 Neon, chances are that the answer is no. Dodge, like most domestic automakers, ...

Pros: Looks nice Cons: Underpowered, loud, hard plastic corners in interior, poor handling The Bottom Line: A new model. If you like the quasi car/truck type station wagon, wait a model year or two until they work the bugs out.
2007 Dodge Caliber The latest crossover vehicle - not a car, not a truck, not a mini van, not an SUV - OK - it's a station wagon (remember those?) based on the improved Neon, according to Bettega the resident automotive expert so that makes ...

Pros: Interesting, Great Stereo, Decent Ride Cons: Cramped rear seats, Blind Spots The Bottom Line: This is a unique family car, that might be a good fit for some.
In the small car market, the Dodge Neon had marginal success, but never lived up to its initial expectations. When it arrived in the mid 1990's, there was much pomp and circumstance, but it could not compete with vehicles such as the Toyota ...

Pros: Reasonable seating for 5 in a pinch Cons: Noisy, Noisy, Noisy. Everything else is mediocre or less. The Bottom Line: I would never buy this vehicle and if it were given to me, I'd sell it and buy something else.
First some background information. I made a reservations for a compact rental car for 4 days in Seattle, WA. Upon arrival the rental company upgraded me at no charge to a larger vehicle, a Dodge Caliber Hatchback. They told me it was a 5-door ...

Pros: Affordable, fun to drive, just north of pragmatic, well-made. Cons: Not many bells and whistles to entertain gadget-junkies. The Bottom Line: In a time of tightening finances, overcrowded roadways, and soaring crude, the 2007 Dodge Caliber is as smart a purchase as you can make.

Pros: Cargo capacity Cons: Roof slope, cheap materials, underpowered, visibility The Bottom Line: I can't recommend the Caliber because of visibility issues and lack of power
I travel a fair amount for business. One of the unexpected perks of doing this is that I get to test drive a lot of different vehicles. Granted, they're usually the base model of any car, but in that way I get to see what the car, in its' most basic ...

Pros: Innovative, aggressive styling, thoroughly modern engines and safety options, compliant ride, unique interior features Cons: CVT lacks immediate kick, rear seat leg room, noisier than some competitors, The Bottom Line: Recommended. Caliber offers SUV-like interior flexibility with more car-like fuel efficiency at the expense of some kick in the pants off the line. The Caliber offers stand-out styling and features.
The all new 2007 Dodge Caliber combines the exterior styling cues of an SUV with the apparent roof profile of a sport coupe. It is a five door hatchback that avoids looking like a station wagon or economy car. It works in real life, much better than in ...

Pros: rugged, unique, upscale styling starting under $14,000, smooth ride, might be quiet without hubcaps Cons: poor visibility, abrupt clutch actuation, lazy throttle response, loud at high revs The Bottom Line: Despite a few minor misfires, the Dodge Caliber has the competition in its crosshairs with its affordability and compelling exterior and interior design elements.
INTRODUCTION AND INTERIOR I drove the Dodge Caliber SXT with the 1.8 liter engine and the 5-speed manual transmission. Despite some areas of concern, the competition may not be able to DODGE a shot of this high CALIBER. Although the interior has ...

Pros: Aggressive exterior looks, gas mileage, storage space, price Cons: Sub par engine performance, interior fit and finish, blind spots the size of Texas The Bottom Line: Good looks but go for the bigger engine. The base one is simply too underpowered for a vehicle of this size.
This is my first automotive review. Most of my reviews to date have been on kitchen gadgets or camping gear but I had an opportunity to drive a 2007 Caliber and I wanted to put in my impressions. It was determined last week that I was needed in our ...

Pros: Styling, Front Seats, Gauges, Fun To Drive Cons: Styling, Road Noise, AC Vents The Bottom Line: A good contender in the small sedan catagory. Nice size, decently appointed, reasonable performance and good gas mileage. Probably a 3.85 out of five stars.
Rented a Caliber for a ten day trip to the Phoenix area in February. Logged over 1100 miles on freeways, mountain roads (including some unpaved), and local streets in the burbs in 30-80 degree temps and was generally impressed. Not being in the market ...

Last week, after a lengthy consideration period, I purchased a new car - that car happened to be the 2007 Dodge Caliber. I was very skeptical about this "crossover" vehicle at first, but eventually gave it a chance. I'm certainly glad I did. Before I ...

Pros: Looks, Standard Amenities, Price Cons: Visability The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a kinda economical car with a lot of room for kids or stuff, that doesn't look like the station wagon of our youth-this is it!
Yes, I am voluntarily the proud owner of not one but two Dodge Hemi 4x4s and with a one-way commute of 30 miles five days a week to the office; my savings account was not whispering 'Uncle', it was on the roof of a very tall building with a bullhorn in ...

Pros: instrument placement, Chill Zone beverage cooler, rear cab light, tail gate speakers, electrical outlet,CVT Cons: Jack and tools included to change spare. The Bottom Line: For comfort, flexibility, and some new and nifty little features make the 2007 Dodge Caliber a fun and enjoyable car to drive.
