Pros: Interior quality & look, versatility, fuel economy, handling, performance, interior space, quality & solid feel Cons: High RPM at highway speed, price
It took only one test drive to sell us on the Honda Fit. We looked at the Suzuki Swift (great price), the Toyota Yaris (really disliked the interior and ride), and were all set to buy a Toyota Matrix when we drove the Fit with manual transmission. The Fit had great handling, a peppy engine and smooth shifter, a very classy, up-scale looking interior, and better visibility than the Matrix. And, unlike the Matrix, it had a full compliment of air bags and anti-lock brakes standard. The back seats and hatch area were very versatile and accommodated our double stroller no problem. We like almost everything about the Fit, but are a few little things that bother me - the most notable is that at highway speeds, the engine runs at over 3000 rpm, which is rather busy. A sixth gear, like on the Nissan Versa would be very welcome.
