Nissan Sentra - Are the new models any better?

by shoplmart shoplmart is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Cars & Motorsports, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10
Nov 24 '06 - Updated May 26 '08

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Decent torque, much better quality than last year, huge glovebox, 6-speed manual as standard equipment.
Cons: Exterior styling, Acceleration could be better.
The Bottom Line: The 2007 Sentra is an improvement over last year's model. However, the Sentra still lacks the pizazz and proven reliability of much of its competition.

After six years of the Sentra being essentially the same bland 4-door sedan, Nissan has given their compact a completely new design for '07, making this the Sentra’s 6th generation since its first introduction in 1982. This new design is ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Available features, roomy, fuel economy
Cons: Styling, boring to drive, seat could use more adjustments
The Bottom Line: Good for those who like the latest features but who are on a tight budget.

Despite a brush with bankruptcy, Nissan has churned out a stream of strong performing, stylish cars and trucks over the past few years. Lately, the only vestige of its boring car era was the Nissan Sentra. Sure, the Spec V could be a blast to drive, at ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 3.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Ride comfort on par with good midsize sedans, available Bluetooth, large glovebox.
Cons: Bland to drive, bar-stool driving position, so-so visibility, an aesthetic oddity.
The Bottom Line: Thoroughly average in room and road manners, the Sentra will appeal most to those who crave big-car ride isolation and tech features.

Background Nissan has been figuratively on fire for the last few years, introducing one hit model after another and successfully reinventing itself as a sportier, more stylish alternative to Honda and Toyota. But even the smartest companies ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 4.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Predictable and stable handling package. Excellent, tractable power.
Cons: Difficult to modulate brakes. Under--damped rebound settings on shock valving.
The Bottom Line: For those who want performance out of an affordable family four-door car, this Nissan is hard to beat!

The silver bullet accelerated cleanly off the nine-degree banking of turn four at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR). The 2007 Sentra Se-R Spec V was at full song as it flashed under the starter's stand, hitting fifth gear at over 105 MPH. Up ahead, a ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Comfortable, quiet, refined. Interior much better than last model.
Cons: We need more power, Scotty! Better looks from the side won't hurt.
The Bottom Line: Playing catch-up with Honda's new Civic.

After owning 2 different Nissan Sentras (2000 and 2001, both in SE trims), I was curious as to what the new 2007 Sentras offer. They have been redesigned from the ground up, and now are completely different cars from 2006 (which were the same design ...

Pros: Interior, performance
Cons: It's a car *sigh*
The Bottom Line: A wonderfully fun ride, it makes it onto the potential buy list for one who hates cars in general

Recently my beautiful red Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado was broken into and suffered severe damages from an incompetent attempt to steal it. While it was in the repair shop, I had the opportunity to drive a number of rental cars. The 2007 Nissan Sentra was ...

Severely out classed by its competitors

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 2.0 Recommended: No

Pros: There are better A to B cars in the market
Cons: Anemic Engine, Clumsy CVT transmission, Horrible Suspension Set up, Bad Visibility
The Bottom Line: If you must own a Sentra, go for the base model.

There are fringe benefits for 3 years of lawful living and paying taxes in Lansing, Michigan, like the incident two weeks ago when a drunk smashed into my parked car with a truck or SUV (I don't know which since the gentleman/madam didn't consider ...

Pros: Bluetooth, Feature Rich Interior, 6-CD MP3Changer/AUX input, Leather, Intelligent Keyless Entry & Start
Cons: No Power Seats, No Climate Control, No Heated Seats.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a midsize compact to midsize sedan, You get more value for the money.

If you read the specs of this car and try to compare it with any of its competitor vehicles such as Civic, Mazda3, Corolla or others and see the value for the money, there is no question about Sentra being better value for the money. I had a Nissan ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Gas Mileage, ride, comfort, style, reasonably priced
Cons: No compass, no E85 gas
The Bottom Line: I recommend you purchase this car if you want a sporty, peppy, reasonably priced car that gets excellent gas mileage.

This is the first Nissan I have ever purchased. I researched Honda, Toyota, and several American cars before deciding on this purchase. This is a very peppy car with great gas mileage. I typically get about 35 mpg highway and 31 mpg city. The highest ...

The Bottom Line: Buy this car over any other car in its class becsause you will not be dissappointed!

The Nissan Sentra was completely redisgned for 2007 and now looks like a smaller version of the Altima. The Sentra is a competitor of the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Volkswagen Jetta. Here is how it compares. Exterior: The Sentra looks very ...

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Interior styling, bluetooth, quiet drive
Cons: No major concerns as yet
The Bottom Line: So far very happy with purchase.

I've had this car for close to two weeks now. I purchased the 2.0 SL after looking at the Mazda 3 and the Civic. I did not particularly like the new Civic's styling and also preferred a leather interior. What sold me on the Sentra over the Mazda 3 was ...

2007 Nissan Sentra

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Roominess, fuel efficiency, keyless entry system, smooth ride. Reliable. Real strength = overall competence
Cons: Engine could be a bit smoother/more refined but it's pretty quiet.
I purchased my Nissan Sentra 2.0S w/ CVT transmission. 1 1/2 years ago. Now have 12000 miles on it. No problems. Ride is very comfortable, soaks up all the potholes Boston has to offer. Not terribly sporty drive but I prefer smoothness over sportiness in a car like this. Plenty of interior space, can fold down rear seats which allows car to swallow huge amount of stuff if needed. I average 28 mpg in city and 34mpg on highway, great for such a large car

One knock people put on this car is it isn't sporty driving like Civic. I say it's rommier, smoother riding without the ugly interior of a Civic. If you want a sporty car you shouldn't be buying a car of this type.

Very Good Gas Mileage

Author's Product Rating: Product Rating: 5.0 Recommended: Yes
Pros: Geting 31.5 mpg, Love CRV
Cons: Tan interior only with Bronze color
Getting 31.5 mpg so far with 3,000 miles. Bronze color is what I wanted except it only came with tan interior, wish it came with grey. Feels stronger than others in it's class. Handling is good. CRV is excellent. Power is good enough for Chicago are driving. I had a sunroof installed after sale...well worth it. Stereo is good, speakers good.
Big enough trunk. Lots of storage

Cons: Not much leg room between brake pedal and accelerator.
