Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Seamless integration of hybrid tech with the real world.  Competent Transportation Pod.
Cons: Squirrely on grooves and drawbridges.  Dippy backup beeper.
The Bottom Line: The 2011 Prius takes all of its bleeding-edge technology and hides it behind a Toyota badge  This is a Toyota that overcame my dislike of Toyota.

I just spent the weekend with a new Toyota Prius.  I had to be in Florida for business, and I rented myself a compact car.  I was hoping to get the new 2012 Ford Focus, but the rental agent "upgraded" me to the "mid-size" Prius.  ...

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Great fuel efficiency, affordable, competent handling, comfortable and relaxing to drive
Cons: I would not take it to a race track
The Bottom Line: Prius is the most popular car (in Japan) for very good reasons. USA would be better off if averyone had one.

Most of the reviews here compare 2010 Prius, the third generation Prius, to its previous generations. Well, I never drove generation 2, so that was not helpful to me when I considered Prius recently. When I finely arranged for a test drive, I expected ...

Author's Product Rating: 40 Recommended: Yes

Pros: More options allow customizing to suit most. Basic Prius appeal is preserved.
Cons: Difficult to fault but the Shift Pattern is too cute & eccentric.
The Bottom Line: The main difference is the new larger gasoline engine. More power (145hp) offset by more streamlining - thus still a 50 mpg vehicle

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: Fuel economy, improved styling, unexpected level of refinement
Cons: Feels sluggish in Eco and Normal modes
The Bottom Line: Few negatives for economy-minded drivers, and superior in nearly every way to the Honda Insight.

Judging from posts on car forums, there are two sorts of people: those who own a Prius, and those who hate the car and even everyone who owns one. It’s not hard to see why many people hate the Prius. It’s a foreign product, from the start it ...

Author's Product Rating: 50 Recommended: Yes

Pros: It fits me. great gas mileage. options on how to drive. low insurance cost.
Cons: initial cost. not as peppy as other drives.
The Bottom Line: $10 more a month insurance than my old car. Half the cost for gas. Everyone loves my car.

All things have their alpha and their omega. With cars, the omega is called being totalled. My old car didn't reach the omega. It had reached at least omicron. It had reached the point where it kept breaking down. Sometimes minor repairs and sometimes ...

Pros: Insanely fuel efficient. I love the quirky body style and high-tech appeal.
Cons: Rear visibility, wind buffeting, some cheap materials, nanny-like navigation/phone controls.
The Bottom Line: The bottom line vibrates at high speed or with loud music. Is that a bad thing?

On May 16, 2009, I bought a 2010 Toyota Prius in Blizzard Pearl. I wasn't even on the waiting list. It was the first Third Generation Prius to hit my local dealership, and I drove it off the lot before even the salespeople got a look through the ...
