Pros: Price, Value for $, 5+1 Surround Sound Cons: Poor FM Antenna Supplied, Favorite Stations Buttons Only on Remote
I bought my Kenwood VR405 as a replacement to my old Dolby Pro-Logic receiver because I wanted to experience 5+1 channel sound when watching DVDs. Before, I go any further, I want to emphasize that I am not an audiophile. However, I doubt that many...
Pros: Inexpensive unit, good input/output jack options. Cons: Unreliable remote sensor and optical sensor, warranty not long enough.

Pros: Surround capabilitities, simple controls, Cons: Medium power, bad antenna,

Pros: Great, DIGITAL sound. For only 50 watts, this sub is capable of DEEEP lows. Cons: HDMI did not exist when this came out, so I guess this has no Cons.
I bought my home theater in a box from Sam's Club in 2000 and have been impressed with the sound ever since. I started with a regular 27 inch analog tv and mostly used the surround for watching dvds and playing sega dreamcast using composite cables ...
Pros: Easy to use
Set up isn't to difficult
Headphone jack in the front
Nice display Cons: My remote stopped working and it's only way to get bass boost.
Subwoofer sucks.
I bought one of these back in high school, it came with a non-powered subwoofer so the bass sucked of course, but it's a decent system if you add a powered subwoofer.
It has a port for optical audio and coaxial audio so you can get some sweet 5.1 Dolby Digital, which it works pretty well with.
Be sure to watch the THX version of Will Smiths "Judgement Day".
