Pros: Line-In, Remote, Good sound for a boombox. Cons: Huge/Heavy, No MP3, still sounds like a boombox.
First things first: I bought this unit to replace my old CFD-G500 (basically same unit) so obviously I do think the device has merit. Initial Experience It comes out of the box like you'd expect any boombox to. Nothing special ...
Pros: Great price, features, sound and looks. Cons: Weak radio reception, preset equalizer
I purchased this medium-sized unit about a week ago after testing many different brands and models. The first thing that got my attention was it's great looks. Upon further investigation, I found that this unit has a subwoofer. Once I fired it up I...
Pros: Can get pretty loud. Flashy appearance may appeal to teenagers. Cons: Boomy bass. Shrill treble. Poor tone controls. Remote operates radio and CD only.
I have been looking for a higher quality boombox for some time. I decided to buy the Sony CFD-G505. It replaces the CFD-G500. I am not too happy with the unit. I will give its pros and cons. Just like the G500, the G505 sounds very shrilly. I ...
Pros: its portable....remote is handy if you keep it... Cons: sound quality..totally quiet..bad antennae reciever..weak bass...plenty more..
The past few days I've spent looking around for a decent boombox or small shelve system between $100-150...from what i had seen anywhere there was a review for this boombox was that its great... People loved the sound quality and bass, and how loud it ...
Pros: Looks cool, good tone, nice bass. Cons: Display to small, not backlit, buttons not backlit, tape deck an after-thought.
I'v owned the Sony CFDG770CPK about 4 months now. I will say this is nothing like the gods that walked the earth in the mid 80's when ghetto blasters ruled. This unit has more cons than pros. The tone is excellent and the bass is deep for a ...
Pros: Good power and sound quality Cons: Big, heavy, and ugly
I bought this product for one purpose - to be usable in a noisy ice rink. It does the job, with ample volume and good sound quality. Yes, there are things not to like about it - it's big, heavy, and ugly: its aesthetic screams "male teenager", not ...
Pros: Looks, remote included, subwoofer, plenty of volume, excellent sound! Cons: poor fm reception...no CD recall.
I've listened to all the available portable boomboxes. For the mere price of $99.00, this unit is well worth investing in. The subwoofer is an excellent addition and it really makes the system sound more like a shelf type outfit. The audio output, as...
The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly by bettercheddar ,Apr 19 '07
Pros: The sound is worth the money asked for the product. Cons: Weight, RED Light for bass activation is an eye sore!
This machine sounds very good. I wanted a high power machine with realistic watts - this one offers that feature. The bass is a plus-it's rich, but not bloated!
There are flaws here. It's no lightweight! The red light on the front of the machine when the bass is activated is just obnoxious. The lcd display is very difficult to read!
Still, it's the sound this thing makes that sets it above other players in its price range. It just sounds good! There was no other player I could find that had the goods as far as sound goes-this one did.
$100.00 for a nice boombox is a no brainer. Another reviewer was correct in saying that this isn't a Wave Radio or a Cambridge Soundworks machine - he's right it isn't. He's also on the mark when he says that the cost to sound ratio is phenominal.
Give this a listen-you'll buy it because nothing else comes close!
Pros: Great sound, looks really cool (neon light in front), remote. Cons: Very large, no MP3 (on CD). Too much for girly men. :-)
If you like Dodge Trucks, real beer, and other cool things, you'll like this bad boy. Yeah, it is big, but it also sounds REALLY GOOD. There are a bunch of sound settings, including WOOFER, for minimal, moderate, or mega bass. The unit has both cassette and cd inputs. It also has a remote, which can be very handy. I agree that no MP3 was a bonehead move, but it will take line input so you can use a portable MP3 player with it, if desired. I've got a zillion CDs so, I'm fine with that.
Seriously, it is a little larger than I wanted, but it was not much more than the toys and junk that seem to be the only other alternatives for less money. (Either $40 to $60, or this thing and up). For versatility and sound quality, and assuming the Sony name still means something, ought to be a worthwhile investment.
NOTE: Battery life is a guess (didn't give me the option of N/A.) I haven't used it with batteries yet.
Excellent Boombox and a Must for the Garage by ahess70 ,Feb 21 '08
Pros: VERY good sound, line in, tuner power, digital tuner. Cons: No clock, acquired taste on looks for some, no mp3 off CD-R CD-R/W.
Rugged looking, VERY good sound for a boombox, line in for mp3 player or other source (TV/DVD/VCR sound). The tuner is extremely powerful compared to my last Sony boombox that lasted 12 years. It pulls in ALL my stations with the antenna in most positions. I mean, yeah it's big and takes an acquired taste in the looks department, but it is what it is. Definitely a man's radio since my wife hates to look at it. Man does it sound sweet in the garage.
