by dkozin dkozin is a Lead on Epinions in Electronics, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, May 31 '01
Pros: Looks, picture quality, sound, 2 composite outs, remote
Cons: No CD-R/RW or MP3 playback, when RV31 has all this and more for same money
The Sony DVP-NS300B is a new Sony's entry-level DVD player, a replacement for well-known S360. You can get this model in two colors – silver (NS300S) and black (NS300B).

The looks changed slightly, and now you can get the player in...

Pros: Image quality, matches Wega TV's.
Cons: Plays some CD-RW's, but no CD-R's or MP3's.
The Sony DVP-NS300S is Sony's new entry level DVD player for 2001. The model it's replacing, the DVP-S360, is still on the market, and selling for about the same price, $200. The NS300S is silver, matching the color of Sony's line of Wega (pronounced...

Sony's Bottom-Line DVD player, NOT built to last....

by nick1326 Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Jul 09 '02
Pros: Easy to set up, cheap and convenient, realtively small chassis
Cons: NOT built to last, diminishing Sony customer service, no MP3/CDR/CDRW
For quite some time I've been commending Sony on some great offerings in the consumer electronics market. I'll be the first to admit that I haven't seen too many Sony lemons, but I had a recent and rather unpleasant experience with Sony's diminishing...

No frills DVD player for the right price

by MattHilton , May 28 '01
Pros: Elegant interface, slim design, lightweight, Sony's unmatched scanning capabilities
Cons: Poorly written owner's manual
I have been waiting for this DVD player. My decision to purchase a Sony was based purely on its "Smooth Scan" technology. I own a top of the line receiver, so I did not need a DVD player with Dolby Digital and DTS (Digital Theater Systems) decoding. I...

by Rowhite , Jan 06 '02
Pros: Streamlined and compact. Easy to operate.
Cons: None that I have seen so far.
I finally broke down and purchased a DVD player. I had been eyeing them for a while so when I recently came into a wad of cash, I decided to go for it. After shopping around, I finally decided on the Sony DVP-NS300B. This is a great DVD player that is...

Sony DVP-NS300S (DVD Player)

by nofrills2002 , Sep 07 '01
Pros: does its job, not too expensive, easy to find, great remote
Cons: none

The newest version of the Sony DVD player is out in the stores in abundance. The player sells in the black color that is always popular, but in addition is in the new metallic silver color that seems to be...

Here we go... Again.

by brandobean , Oct 31 '01
Pros: Remote meshes well with other Sony products.
Cons: No MP3. Fear of a DVP-S360
Aye Carumba! I could almost write a novel on my negative experiences with DVD. The corporate planners up in mass production empire building can rest assured though, I love the DVD format. I love the multi-languages, subtitles and special features on...

by teruah , May 23 '02
Pros: When it works: great picture, excellent sound
Cons: Can't play cdr or mp3. If it breaks you will never get it fixed.
I purchased this DVD player 10/18/2001 as a Christmas present for my husband. We hooked it up Christmas morning and fell in love instantly. First let me tell you the good points. This unit is Dolby Digital and DTS compatible and a S-video output....

Last yrs model, holding up ok: at a discount, probably worth it

by meestercleef , Jul 12 '02
Pros: Easy to operate, cheap, holding up so far. Good sound.
Cons: No CDR/W playback. Lack of remote backlighting/glow-in-dark.
This model actually has a "B" on the end, but is the same as the "S", except for color. B for black, S for Silver. Due to quality concerns about the previous line of Sony DVD players, I got the extended warranty at Best Buy. 8 months later, no...

by aljay89 , Jan 02 '02
Pros: Easy to use, smooth operation
Cons: Not compatible with CD-R or MP3
My wife and I received the Sony NS300B DVD player as a holiday gift and have thus far found the unit very enjoyable. If you are in the market for a DVD to simply play rentals, this is a good value with a reliable brand name behind it. The remote is fully...

Buyers Remorse

by dot4f , Dec 07 '03
Pros: Skips while reading DVDs. Doesn't read CD-Rs. Overpriced. Sony doesn't stand behind their products.
Cons: Adequate outputs on rear. LOTS.
When we purchased our Sony WEGA TV, we figured it’d be a good time to purchase a matching Sony DVD Player. The Player at the time, ran us about $125. After using the player for a while, we began to discover, it was extremely picky. It is unwilling ...

A good piece of technology

by diiulio , Feb 13 '02
Pros: Awesome picture and sound quality.
Cons: Turning off the subtitles is tricky.
I bought this DVD player before Christmas because of two reasons: first, Sony has an excellent service history and second,

It is simple to hook up. You can use the three connection cable for your audio and visual, but I used their audio cords...

Sony has done it again.

by cdshot , Aug 23 '01
Pros: Good Video, Audio, OK menus plays cd recordable's.
Cons: Case could be better, is sometimes pixilated.
I got this DVD player as an open box buy at Best Buy for $135 without a remote. But I have last year's model(S360) and the remote is the same on the NS300 except for the lack of direct number keys, and it is the best remote out there in my opinion.

SONY's Entry Level DVD player in a class of its own.

by kamlasen , Jun 04 '03
Pros: PrecisionDrive2, Composite Video,DTS, Dolby Digital Surround.Optical out.Quick Setup Wizard.
Cons: Silver - no subw-out, Cannot play MP3's or CDR/CDRW. No Zoom function.
Sony's Precision Drive 2 is what sets Sony's range of DVD players apart from the rest. Try playing a dirty or badly scratched disc on any other DVD player and the only way to stop the disc is to switch off the unit. With Sony's Precision Drive 2,this DVD...
