Pros: Sharp f2.0 Zeiss lens, Excellent picture quality, Cheap high capacity storage media
Cons: No optical viewfinder, Slow startup times, Slow image / thumbnail display
For the past several years Sony has dominated the digital camera market in North America with their Mavica line. It’s pretty easy to understand that domination when you consider some of the strengths of the Mavicas, they’re simple/intuitive to operate,...
Pros: High quality images, stores images on either recordable or re-writable CDs,easy to coordinate with any computer Cons: Expensive
For most people, this camera is a luxury, not a necessity. The only people who really need a $1000 digital camera that stores high quality images on rewritable CD's are those whose profession or hobby requires them to take more than 150 very high...
Pros: Quality Images, Cheap storage, Sturdy Construction Cons: Price, Size, Disk Access
I did a-lot of research before buying this camera. There are a-lot of good cameras out there for this price point. But the main selling point for me was storage. I wanted a camera that would provide me the quality and I wouldn't have to worry about...
Pros: High Quality Pictures, Photo Resolution, Many Features, Can get several pictures on 1 disc Cons: price
This is my 2nd Sony Mavica camera. My first wrote to a floppy disc, and the quality of pictures and amount of photos I could get on a disc was less than desired. I purchased this new CD Mavica camera this spring, and in 5 months have taken over 2000...
Pros: Great Pictures, loads of features, costs only power to take pictures! Cons: Warranty troubles, Slow startup time, annoying "mavica disc recommended" message, not an action camera

Pros: elicits oohs and ahhs wherever it goes Cons: i had to buy a Large case because it is a Large camera!
THE LONG STORY...

Pros: Quality, Stores a lot of photos at high res. Cons: slightly heavier than expected. Instruction manual is long winded.
I purchased this camera as a gift for myself.I comparison shopped for quite some time before making this decision.
The first thing you notice is that it is slightly heavier than other cameras, the second is how sleek this little guy looks! The...
Pros: Big, cheap storage. Great exposure options. Smart battery. Great photos. Cons: Wait for disk recording. Less than stellar video. Beware non-Sony CD-RWs.
I got this camera a few weeks ago, but really tested it just this past week on a trip to Seattle. I had been looking for a digital camera for about 6 months, going to comparative photos at http://imaging-resource.com , as well as reading stuff on...
Pros: cheap storage, crisp clear beautiful photos Cons: high price, learning curve, disk write time

Pros: storage onto a mini CDRW that is cheap and re-usable time and time again Cons: hefty price

Pros: Great pictures, cheap and easy media, high storage capacity Cons: Slow writing time, movie quality not so great.

Pros: Uses quality CD-R storage discs which you can pop out and view on your PC. Cons: TOO MANY FEATURES! I Just want to take a Quality picture!
Well...First of all, the VERY BEST thing about buying a Digital Camera is that you DONT HAVE TO get the film developed, so take all the nude and racey pictures you like without having to show them to the pharmacist.
I researched many digital cameras before deciding on the Mavica CD300. I have been thrilled with the results this camera produces. When I finish taking pictures, I can finalize the cdrw(takes about 1 minute), and I can pop the CD in any computer and...

Sony is starting to trash it's brand. by microperfect ,Oct 02 '05
Pros: Cheap on e-bay.
CDs are Great.
A value at current prices. Cons: LCD Fragile
Expensive Repairs
The 500 series is better.
The Sony Brand is sinking.
You think SONY and you think quality ... BUT in my eyes that quality focus is starting to fade and what is killing it most is sneaky repair charges.
First, I love the technology of this camera because I love the CD! It is just the best filing system!
Second, this model is all over e-bay! Cheap, cheap, cheap ---- even thought I bought my retail at full price when it first came out.
Third, I hate the technology of this MODEL because of the slow shutter speed and short movie record time.... the higher end models are better,
Fourth, what is UNACCEPTABLE is that the LCD has no protective shield and I had to pay for a VERY EXPENSIVE repair.
Last, the shutter button has started to stick.
Overall, at e-bay prices this is a good value but buy the higher end model for better features that are minor but important!
Sony Mavica CD300 " quality" sucks by bphiggs ,Nov 05 '03
Pros: It worked great for 13 months Cons: It screwed uo 2 months outta warranty
Mavica CD300 flash quit working after very little use. Sony wants $192.50 plus shipping to fix it and then they give me a great big 90 day warranty on this repair. I don't think so. The service dept. consisted of a lengthy interview by a voice recognition computer which eventually passes you along to a dunce. 1/2 hour later after my supper gets good and cold this dunce passes me along to the repair bill pricer who embelishes this whole lousy circus.
We have taken between 3000-5000 pictures since we bought it one year ago.It becomes the entertainment at a party when guests can see pictures RIGHT NOW.It has great features for creativity. The Carl Zeiss lens is fantastic! We think our camera was the best investment we made last year (and we bought a home, a laptop, and a truck too).We recommend it to anyone who asks.It has been to Las Vegas, Mt. Shasta, Yosemite, Virginia City, Lake Tahoe, San Diego, Hollywood, San Francisco. It goes where we go.I'm not confident with a 35mm, but I'm confident with our digital (learning to take better pictures all the time). We're recording our life constantly now. We've done short videos of our childrens' sporting events, etc. I'm starting a new business using powerpoint & my digital pictures, due to the fun I have with my camera.Taking pictures is my new side-passion.We decided to buy the top of the line (at the time), and have never looked back.
although competition's cameras offer higher... by melissa_dt3000 ,Jul 24 '02
although competition's cameras offer higher megapixels per dollar, in a side-by-side comparison at the electronics store, i was DEEPLY disappointed in the competition! - they all were puny, featherweight, and felt like they were going to fall apart in my hand...
the bulky, yet feature-rich mavica was again my choice (i have owned/used SIX other floppy mavicas). it was impressie looking, feeling, and offered more features. manual adjustments aer great for really tricky or artsy shots, the macro function lets you get inches away from your subject, the video function is fun, and the usb-to-cpu feature is too simple!
i absolutely recommend this camera to anyone with a good printer (my hp-photosmart is sufficient), and $700 burning a hole in their pocket!
Bought a Sony MVC-CD300 back in November, and it ranks among the wisest choices I've made. This camera is truly awesome, it does everything but sing and dance. Super easy to use, I'd recommend it to anyone. Versatility of the mini-CD's also a big plus.
