Pros: Excellent quality photos, convenient mini-cdrw storage, equipped with useful options, highly recommended!!! Cons: Steep purchase price.
I researched many digital cameras before deciding on the Mavica CD300. I have been thrilled with the results this camera produces. When I finish taking pictures, I can finalize the cdrw(takes about 1 minute), and I can pop the CD in any computer and...

Sony is starting to trash it's brand.
by microperfect ,Oct 02 '05
Pros: Cheap on e-bay.
CDs are Great.
A value at current prices. Cons: LCD Fragile
Expensive Repairs
The 500 series is better.
The Sony Brand is sinking.
You think SONY and you think quality ... BUT in my eyes that quality focus is starting to fade and what is killing it most is sneaky repair charges.
First, I love the technology of this camera because I love the CD! It is just the best filing system!
Second, this model is all over e-bay! Cheap, cheap, cheap ---- even thought I bought my retail at full price when it first came out.
Third, I hate the technology of this MODEL because of the slow shutter speed and short movie record time.... the higher end models are better,
Fourth, what is UNACCEPTABLE is that the LCD has no protective shield and I had to pay for a VERY EXPENSIVE repair.
Last, the shutter button has started to stick.
Overall, at e-bay prices this is a good value but buy the higher end model for better features that are minor but important!

Sony Mavica CD300 " quality" sucks
by bphiggs ,Nov 05 '03
Pros: It worked great for 13 months Cons: It screwed uo 2 months outta warranty
Mavica CD300 flash quit working after very little use. Sony wants $192.50 plus shipping to fix it and then they give me a great big 90 day warranty on this repair. I don't think so. The service dept. consisted of a lengthy interview by a voice recognition computer which eventually passes you along to a dunce. 1/2 hour later after my supper gets good and cold this dunce passes me along to the repair bill pricer who embelishes this whole lousy circus.

We have taken between 3000-5000...
by michele_t._dt3000 ,Jan 25 '03
We have taken between 3000-5000 pictures since we bought it one year ago.It becomes the entertainment at a party when guests can see pictures RIGHT NOW.It has great features for creativity. The Carl Zeiss lens is fantastic! We think our camera was the best investment we made last year (and we bought a home, a laptop, and a truck too).We recommend it to anyone who asks.It has been to Las Vegas, Mt. Shasta, Yosemite, Virginia City, Lake Tahoe, San Diego, Hollywood, San Francisco. It goes where we go.I'm not confident with a 35mm, but I'm confident with our digital (learning to take better pictures all the time). We're recording our life constantly now. We've done short videos of our childrens' sporting events, etc. I'm starting a new business using powerpoint & my digital pictures, due to the fun I have with my camera.Taking pictures is my new side-passion.We decided to buy the top of the line (at the time), and have never looked back.

although competition's cameras offer higher...
by melissa_dt3000 ,Jul 24 '02
although competition's cameras offer higher megapixels per dollar, in a side-by-side comparison at the electronics store, i was DEEPLY disappointed in the competition! - they all were puny, featherweight, and felt like they were going to fall apart in my hand...
the bulky, yet feature-rich mavica was again my choice (i have owned/used SIX other floppy mavicas). it was impressie looking, feeling, and offered more features. manual adjustments aer great for really tricky or artsy shots, the macro function lets you get inches away from your subject, the video function is fun, and the usb-to-cpu feature is too simple!
i absolutely recommend this camera to anyone with a good printer (my hp-photosmart is sufficient), and $700 burning a hole in their pocket!

Bought a Sony MVC-CD300 back...
by billy_in_carmel_dt3000 ,Mar 04 '02
Bought a Sony MVC-CD300 back in November, and it ranks among the wisest choices I've made. This camera is truly awesome, it does everything but sing and dance. Super easy to use, I'd recommend it to anyone. Versatility of the mini-CD's also a big plus.
