Competent Performer; but there's Much Better

by jazzophile , Jan 24 '02
Pros: Ability to use as two independent cd players.
Cons: Below average ergonomics. Mediocre auto indexing. Only has TosLink Digital inputs. Slow reacting remote!
It was with great anticipation that I opened this CDR(W) recorder. Unlike the target of the RIAA's paranoid protection schemes, my main purpose for buying this unit was to transfer my precious albums to CDR and listen to the Lp's only when critically...

Beware first-generation models from anyone.

by davidksmith , Jan 29 '02
Pros: It can record music on CD-Rs and CD-RWs.
Cons: Poor user ergonomics, extremely poor response time to user commands, some functions remote-only, other issues.
As if designed by a high school shop class, the RCD-W1 is an alarmingly poor effort on Sony's part, and perhaps indicative of a rushed attempt to jump on the recordable music CD bandwagon. Adequate performance specifications are meaningless when the user...

Pros: High and Normal speed dubbing, Crystal clear recordings, its a Dual tray recording stystem.
Cons: A little slow startup play, A bit complicated to learn everything about it.
Many people consider Sony the Electronic King. Well.. they are. Sony has made this outstanding cd recording system and it beats every other cd recorder nomatter the brand at the $400+ level. Cd Recorders are very high tech and this burner beats todays...

As good as the Original?

by Flyinfox , May 04 '03
Pros: Good quality copies
Cons: Difficult learning process
One of the wishes of all my life was to have a clear cut recording of the songs I wanted to hear and not what was on the entire Album. With the advent of CD technologies in cars and now this Sony Digital CD Recorder, my dreams have been fulfilled. I am...
