Pros: When it worked, it was great. Cons: known defective product with no desire to accept the responsibility for their mistake.
It appears many have had the same problem I had. Bought the system, had it for 3 months before I moved to China for a year. Came back and within a month it began popping (deafening) like crazy. Works intermittently, but then begins popping again. ...
Pros: Great bass when it worked. Cons: Amp burnt out twice, junk.
THE AMP HAS NOW BURNT OUT ON ME TWICE AND NOW JBL WON'T HONOR THE WARRANTY. MY AMP BURNT OUT THE FIRST TIME JUST OVER A YEAR OF THE PURCHASE. THE REPAIR SHOP FIXED IT AND SAID THAT JBL CAME UP WITH A MODIFICATION FOR THE AMP. WELL A LITTLE OVER A YEAR ...
I purchased this sub when I did work at Best Buy, and it is definately a house-shaker. Everyone who watches movies or tv at my house makes some remark about the bass. Other users have said that they get a cracking sound from it, but I have never had...
Pros: Great sound while it works. Good price. Cons: Lasted only 1.5 years. JBL has horrible service.
I really liked my PB12 while it worked. I used it for my home theater setup and about a year and a half after I bought it, it died. When it is powered on, it makes deafening popping and crackling noises. I tried to contact JBL, but they never replied t ...
Pros: 250 watts, 12inch woofer, good look, its JBL. Cons: None so far.
To begin the price of this subwoofer is $400 which is worth every penny, but the chance to get it for $255 should be taken any day of the week. If its worth every penny of $400 dollars then its definetly a steal at $255. I myself paid $400 and I...
Pros: The best sounding bass I've ever heard, powerful, precise, professional quality for consumer price Cons: Sensitive to noise in the AC power line
When properly configured, this subwoofer can produce some of the MOST ACCURATE low frequency sounds that exist. The tone of 50 Hz can vary, the tone of a 25Hz frequency can vary, but this subwoofer has the potential to reproduce each and every frequency...
Pros: It produces an excellent low sound with a punch! Cons: None
One of the most import pieces in any Home Theater System is to have a product that will help excite the movie that you are watching on your Home Theater System. The JBL 12" Powerbass Subwoofer PB12 is the piece of equipment needed to make your movies...
It seems like something out of a dream. The JBL PB12 is a true piece of art. When I heard it, I said "wow". I saw the price tag of $400, and thought that it was a fairly good deal, but when I saw it for as low as $254.99, I was simply taken by surprise....
Pros: Excellent for Music and Home Theater; Powerful, Tight Bass; Low Price Cons: Possible service problems, size
This subwoofer was purchased to complete a JBL home theater setup and is a perfect addition. There are many choices when it comes to subwoofers today: driver size, amp power, down or side firing, ported, etc. This subwoofer seems to be an economical...
Pros: Looks good and I like the little green lights on it. Cons: Can't handle much power at all.
I currently work at Best Buy and I have seen everything it's got to offer. This sub is definetly not worth $400 dollars. Sure it looks good and will work good for low volumes but once you turn it up it cracks and sounds like it will blow. It's amp...
I don't know what these other people are doing with their sub, but I've had mine for about 7yrs and haven't had any problems whatsoever! It's wonderful! Great for watching movies with deep rich bass and music is off the hook! I love it!
Same problem as everyone else... great sound for 14 months by ur2coolmike ,May 04 '06
Pros: Rock-the-world bass. Nice look (for a coffee table...) Cons: Trash after 14 months (expensive coffee table...)
Purchased the first one from an online vendor and it arrived DOA. Glad they honored the warranty, and the second unit arrived about 2 weeks after the first was returned. AWESOME deep bass for movies (especially U571 and the depth charge blasts). Rattled the glasses on our bar. Then, about 14 months later, is began to squeak and squawk eeeeeeeeeeeooooooouuuuuwwwwwweeeeeeeee sounds, louder than one can bear to hear. Warranty period was over.
For about 6 months, you could unplug the unit (min 3 or 4 days down time) and then get a movie or two played before the noise would start again. That got old really fast and it did not always work.
Gave up and purchase a Sony SA-WX700 subwoofer about 6 months ago and was initially very disappointed with it's output. However, that opinion was totally bogus -- guess that subwoofers have to go through a bit of a break-in period? After about three or four movies, it really rocked the house and we are loving the Sony.
Used with a Yamaha HTR 5280 amp and a Northridge 7 speaker surround system (center, 2 surround fronts, 2 surround rears, and two standing ND310s), the Sony kicks.
Pros: Good sound, nice styling, and I like most of it. Cons: Troubled durability, but I was luckier than some.
Mine died after four years. I had my local Community College check it out for free. A $6 capacitor fixed it, so I didn't have the horror stories of the others. Instructor told me it will probably go out again in a couple of years, and to bring it back. Don't want to replace the thing, so I will live with it. Interesting that my first one went back to Best Buy on the day I bought it. Should have been a warning.
