Weak link in the Kimpton chain by mikeharding ,Apr 18 '06
Pros: Location, restaurant. Cons: Noise, bad AC, not worth the money.
As a frequent guest at various Kimpton Hotels across the US, I expected much more from their NY property. While well located, the hotel corridors are dimly lit, and the rooms are exceptionally noisy. Worst of all, the noise level from the corridor is outrageous. The room doors in this hotel slam shut with such force that I was awakened at least twice during each night of my stay by the noise. In addition the AC is anemic, and the hot water can take 3-5 minutes to kick in. The staff is helpful and John (one of the concierge staff) is superb. The restaurant, Silverleaf tavern is above average. Unfortunately for Kimpton, the problem at this property is the condition of the facility itself. There is no way that I could recommend this hotel.
