Cons: Big for a Compact, Dangerous Lancing Device

Summary: The Accu-Chek Compact is the fast, easy way to test your blood glucose levels. For more information on diabetes and blood sugar testing, please visit http://www.diabetes.org (American Diabetes Association) or http://www.jdf.org ... read more

  • Huge improvement over Accu-Chek Advantage

Rated a Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Feb 11, 2005
Pros: Smaller sample, no test strip handling, lots of alternate test sites, over Advantage
Cons: slower than some units, button to extrude strip might be easy to hit accidentally.

Summary: I was using the Accu-Chek Advantage, and honestly, having a lot of difficulties with it. You need a pretty big sample size. I evaluated a lot of different brands and came down to the Accu-Chek Compact or the UltraScan. Now, the Accu-Chek Advantage ... read more

    Pros: No strip handling.
    Cons: Won't turn on sometimes.

Summary: I have been using this meter for about 2.5 months now. I got it from my doctor as soon as I was diagnosed as a diabetic. I have read all kinds of bad stuff on the internet about how inaccurate this meter was and it had me scared enough that I was gonna ... read more

  • Ah, the Irony

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Aug 22, 2003
Pros: Self-contained test strips, brainless to use
Cons: Rather large, requires more blood than some meters of this age, motor

Summary: I got this meter for free with a coupon. Since it was free, I figured I'd give it a try (which is exactly what the companies want you to figure). I got it home, and the set up was no problem. Here comes the ironic part. I looked at the size and ... read more

  • Not a fan of this meter

Rated a Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Feb 9, 2003
    Pros: Over other meters? None
Cons: lancing device, size, time for results, procedure to test.

Summary: Being diabetic for 31 years, I've used all kinds of meters. My health insurance company sent me this meter 3 weeks ago and I used it for 5 days before going back to my Lifescan Ultra. It is a big meter, and the results are slow as ... read more

  • Small, compact, and easy to use but it looks like a cell phone.

Pros: accurate monitor, very few errors, very easy to use.
Cons: looks like a cell phone

Summary: February of last year I was told that I had Type 2 Diabetes. Since I’d taking Prednisone for 6 years at that point I was not all that surprised. Steroids like Prednisone increases the risks for diabetes. So, the clinic that I go to ... read more

  • Another Winner! This time for travel.

Rated a Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Aug 23, 2002
Pros: Tough, small, obviously designed for traveling, compact case with belt clip. Accurate as well.
Cons: Avoiding "accidental" test makes one nervous pushing buttons.

Summary: Roche/Accu-Chek has done it again! A very nice travel meter! Things to like about this meter: Meter has vial with 17 test strips imbedded in a "drum" inside the machine. Case has room for lancet device and a spare drum. The case ... read more

  • Excellent Meter But A Little On The Large Size

Pros: Very easy to use and good memory capacity.
Cons: A bit too big to carry round in your pocket.

Summary: I had this meter for a couple of months now and find it very easy to use,Just set up the date and time insert the strip drum and you are ready to go.If you are used to using this type of meter then you will find it a breeze. I also got it at a bargain

  • The worst glucose meter in the market

Rated Show by the Epinions community
    Mar 7, 2007
Pros: 17 strip drum, nice software for charting your results.
Cons: Blood thirsty, exaggerated readings, expensive strips, many reject strips.

Summary: I have been using glucose meters for about 20 years now and I have tried many of them. This is the absolute worst that I have seen and tried. I was conned by my doctor to try it. First, it gives consistently 15% to 20% higher readings than the other

  • It does the job

Rated Show by the Epinions community
    Jan 12, 2004
Pros: great little meter. Accurate (based upon reviews) no greasy/wet fingers in the strip container.
Cons: none (rebate offer on box requires trade-in meter of different brand)

Summary: Coming home from the drugstore with only a glowing recommendation from the pharmacist (over the Accu-check more-expensive model) I expected to see better reviews. Heavy? no, and I am glad it uses standard "heavy" AAA batteries. Large? Smaller than older
