Pros: Relatively inexpensive; folds; works entire ab area. Cons: Not necessary; not for the obese; can allow hyper-extensions.
When my friend asked me if I thought she should be the Ab Lounge by Fitness Quest for $175.00 I said yes. Since then I have used it and am happy to say she is using it. Why I said yes to her and perhaps I might have said no to someone else will be in ...
Pros: Fun and easy to use Cons: Not very heavy, wobbly
I am one to try anything once. And after my husband brought this beach chair of an ab workout for his tummy, I had to try it out for myself. Now, those of you who have read my reviews, know that a car hot my car last summer, and the seatbelt injured my ...
Pros: Real results when used correctly, gets you off the floor Cons: A space hog
When I started seeing commercials for the Ab Lounge I was immediately intrigued. I have given birth to seven children. Even though I was blessed with genes that have kept me thin despite seven pregnancies, my belly muscles have really taken a beating. ...
Pros: Ease of use, great alternative to painful floor exercises. Cons: Manufactured by FitnessQuest, a company that exhibits zero concern in regard to customer service/satisfaction.
I lost about 65 pounds over the last year through healthy diet (calorie counting, aiming for between 1400 and 1500 calories a day, with one "splurge day" each week) and daily exercise of 1/2 an hour or more on an elliptical cross trainer. While I look ...
Pros: Gets you off the floor. Cons: Just another gimmic.
I bought this when it first came out. Suckered by the "Guarentee" and promise of the "Free In Home Trail." I had recently went from 150 pounds to 120 pounds. A size 14 to a size 4! But my pooch just wouldn't get flat after having 2 kids. In my ...
Pros: It gets you OFF the floor and takes the strain off your neck and back. Cons: The lack of proper handles and pedals, which is corrected in the newer version.
I have the original version of the Ab Lounge, but am seriously considering upgrading to the new version -- specifically for the addition of the Iso-Grips (for use with one's hands) and the foot pedals. I am already extremely pleased with the version I ...
Pros: easy to use it works you'll lose weight Cons: none
I tried my daughter's Ab Lounger at her house and was so impressed, I ordered one for myself from Sears. It came in a long box and included a CD with instructions on how to use it. It folds for storage and can be stowed easily. It takes ...
Pros: 1. No back or neck strain
2. Only the ABS are worked Cons: 1.Takes up space
I wanted to actually be able to see my ABs, all of them, for the first time. My Wife bought me the AB Lounge Ultra for my birthday on June 20 and since then I've been using it a cumulative 10 minutes at a time about 5 days a week. It is the 17th of ...
Not a magic bullet but.... by ridetbred ,May 09 '06
Pros: Easy on the back and neck, more effective than floor work, reasonable cost. Cons: Takes up a lot of space and does not (despite claims) fold away easily.
We've found the Ab Lounger to be a useful tool, although not a magic bullet in and of itself. My husband, who has no weight issues, has developed a nice toned sexy belly from daily use, and saw relatively fast results (about a month.) I still don't have a six-pack, but there is a nice layer of muscle under the fat. It's important to use it correctly, but when you do you can really isolate the ab muscles without compromising your back and neck, which is a big issue for me. Will not produce a sexy belly by itself. Sadly, diet and aerobic exercise are still the watchwords.
Pros: comfortable, see results quickly Cons: folding it is not happening unless you break out the tool box
I have watched the commercials for about a yr now and finally got one for xmas. I have been on it for about a wk and a half and I am seeing results already. I had two children via c-section and have the pooch everyone women can relate too. I watch what I eat but don't starve myself either. I think the lounger is wonderful for anyone that wants to tone and lose a inch or two. I paid $93.00 for mine and it is worth the money. To lose a inch or two is worth it to me. Floor style crunches are for a teenager. I am 31 yrs old and need to do a crunch with comfort. I will update my review once i have been doing it daily for 2 months and let you know if i still think it is worth your money and your time. For now it is worth it...
Not a good thing for everyone by susan6868 ,Mar 08 '07
Pros: Reasonably priced. Sturdy. Cons: Can cause injury - talk to your doctor before purchasing.
I'm sure lots of folks have a good experience with this product. I just came back from the Physical Therapist, and realized that the lower back problems I now have started suspiciously around the same time I bought my AB Lounge.
He explained that for a person with a healthy spine, it's probably a good piece of equipment. If you have any pain or degeneration in your lower spine or neck, do not use it before talking with your doctor.
I have a vertebrae that is slightly out of alignment, and my doctor believes the motion from the Ab lounge caused it to slip and become inflamed. I'm now looking at 6 months of physical therapy to try to reduce the symptoms. Oh, and one of the exercises I'll need to do to help the injury happens to be stomach crunches, done properly, without the gadget.
Pros: This machine works if you do it daily and watch what you eat. Cons: The footbar is out to far for shortpeople. Put something around bar to raise feet.
I have this and have used it faithfully 2-3 times a day. I have lost fat around the stomach area and it seems to be toning at the same time.
A must by for painless flat abs by brittanywilson ,Jan 04 '06
Pros: sturdy, easy to assemble, works great Cons: takes up a little space
I am a mother of three boys and I have to say I am in pretty good shape, I workout regularly and try to eat right, but have always had a difficult time doing crunches on the floor. I found it painful. My husband bought me the Ab Lounger for Christmas and we immediately put it together. I tried it out for about 30 seconds and decided we needed to send it back. The next day I watched the video and made sure I worked from my stomach not my feet or hands and I could barely stay on the machine for 2 minutes. It really works better than regular crunches and without the pain. If your doing it properly you WILL feel the burn and see results. I love this machine and I'm glad I gave it another chance. My abs are looking awesome.
Pros: Cheap and readily available Cons: difficult to assemble, possibility for injury is very high!
Hi All, I started my exercise program with a treadmill that I got from Sears and that has been fabulous, but I started to notice my belly sagging when I started losing weight, so I felt I should shape it up. I have a prior back injury from 1988, but it hasn't bothered me too much, so I bought an ablounge 2 from penneys thinking that it would help me and I want to tell you all my experience.
First of all to get on it, if you are heavy you are already leaning back. Then the video tells you to take a long stretch which puts you back even further and you are instructed to go up and down doing your crunches.
Well, I have been on muscle relaxants and in bed for nearly two days after wacking out my lower lumbar area. I think I have overstressed a bad disk in my back.
Anyway, I wanted to warn you all off of this machine, it is truly dangerous and I don't want anyone else to get hurt. I am returning mine to Penneys tomorrow (If I can lift it into the car.)!
Not effortless, but doable by noratriepke ,Mar 28 '07
Pros: Comfortable aid in abdominal workouts Cons: Bulkier than advertised, some dis-assembly required to fold away
Using this equipment requires concentration on muscle usage. You can easily use the wrong muscles in your arms and your back instead of the abs you hope to slim and tone. Not ideal equipment for small rooms or apartments, it's quite large
