Absolut is definently over hyped. It's funny how advertising and promoting overrun people's decisions. I do admit that Absolut has a great taste, but I don't recommend it for shots. I've had a lot of people tell me that it has a "soapy" taste to it. When mixed it's decent, but you have to mix just the right amount in as to not make it taste too strong for people, otherwise they won't enjoy it. It's good if you are able to spend more money on liquor because it's definently one of the leading brands and definently one of the most popular. It's much better if you stick in the freezer for a while though, room temperature can make it taste like pure rubbing alcohol, and it has a better consistency when chilled or freezed for a while.

I see everywhere - Absolut this and Absolut that. Seems to be very popular and everywhere, extensively advertised, and expensive.
But is it good?

The first thing I noticed about this vodka, drinking it neat AND even in cocktails, was the disturbing and nasty aftertaste that lingered, something of raw alcohol.

This vodka seems to be a classic tale of an otherwise generic and (very) average liquor trying to be elevated to the status of a premium vodka in the public's view via relentless advertising and the corresponding high price tag attached.

If you would like a real decent vodka that is actually cheaper than this, stick with Stoli or Finlandia - clean, crisp with a pleasant aftertaste. I won't even mention the many brilliant Polish and Russian vodkas which you may explore.

I actually kept the empty bottle of this. My wife thinks it looks pretty. I guess that's the only good thing about it.

Absolut is not a bad vodka but if you want to have a vodka that is smooth and does not burn spend the extra few $$ and get something worth your time. Gray Goose or Chopin are great and if you find a good store both can be found for under $26. If on the other hand all you want is something to get you drunk fast this will work; also good for giving to friends who come over.

This is a very good reasonably priced Vodka. Forgetting all the hype about the bottle, and all the Grey Goose / Chopin snobs bashing it like people bash popular music because it's too cliche... this is all in all very good. Not too harsh.

I can easily drink 10 ounces of Absolut and not be hungover or sick at all. I remember buying a cheap Vodka (Skol), drinking 6 ounces, and being deathly ill within 2 hours and severely hungover for 2 days.

My favorite vodka drink is something I think I invented and call the "Skinny No Carb Fuzzy Screwdriver"

2 Ounces Vodka or Citrus Vodka
6 Ounces Diet 7-up
1/4 or 1/5 (amount to suit taste) Crystal Light Powder

This will leave you thin and happy... very happy.

The title says it all. Vodka should be nearly tasteless. Absolut tastes terrible. I'd rather drink urine. Absolut ranks up there with Polar Ice as one of the absolute (pun intended) worst vodkas I've ever been forced to drink.
