Pros: Stylish, DVD-Writer & DVD-ROM, Big Hard Drive, Upgradeable and PRICE! Cons: DVDROM Sticks, Power Button easily hit, Confusing Model numbers.
I've owned this PC since April 2006 and truth be told, if I had to do it all over again... I would. Dell and Gateway don't come anywhere close to the specs the E360 has for less than $1000. Right out of the box I was impressed with the look of the ...
I purchased this computer about 10 months ago from circuit city. Given its specifications (Athlon 64x2 3800+, 1 GB DDR SDRAM, 250 GB SATA, etc), $650 was a fair price. It is certainly fast enough for most of my applications, which include net surfing ...
Pros: Dual core. fast computer with loads of connections and two DVD drives. Looks sharp. Cons: Some fan noise, integrated audio/video and delicate feel to (award winning) case.
I'm not a tekkie so am looking at this unit as an experienced computer owner who can't analyze the specs to death. I picked this up about a week ago at Circuit City. As is typical, it was $100 cheaper with the package so I also now own an entry level ...
Best Desktop I've Ever Owned by rive_sud ,Aug 01 '07
Pros: Good speed, very expandable, great value Cons: Confusing drive assignments, badly placed power button
Got this at Circuit City last fall for a tad under $500. It included a 17" flat CRT, which I turned around and sold for $50. Our model came with a 250GB hard drive, I added an older 40GB, and we have plenty of space. WAY more expansion bays than I've seen in a cheap desktop. We went from a 3.2 Ghz Celeron C to this 2.2 Ghz Athlon 64, and it's a horse.
Pros: Can't get a better computer for cheaper. Works awesomely-- and awesomely's not even a word. Cons: No DVI output, stability issues with Zone Alarm, poor documentation & quality control
I got this computer from Circuit City for $450 after rebate. The first time I plugged in the computer, it wouldn't turn on. I brought it back and they opened it up and found that the power supply wasn't connected. I bring it home, load up a bunch of software-- but the computer reboots itself randomly.
After some diagnosing, I find Zonealarm was causing these reboots. After replacing Zonealarm with Komodo, the computer works flawlessly. If you have problems with this computer, disable "automatically restart" after system failure & record the error, then search online for similar problems. Zonealarm is the ONLY program that's given me problems.
The cpu is fast (4200+ x2), memory (1gb) is great. The hard drive space is big: 250 gb. It's also quiet.
drawbacks: no DVI output; awkward positioning of the power button right beneath the CD eject. Quality control has some issues (how can you miss a power supply not plugged into the mother board? did you even turn on the computer?)
It's probably the best deal I've found on a pretty decent powered computer. Unfortunately, your mileage may vary. Test the machine out thoroughly as soon as you get it.
Poor quality but fast repair service by atlanteanpdr1 ,Jul 31 '07
Pros: Fast repair service.
Cheap to buy (from Comet). Cons: Poor quality wrongly formatted hard disc drive.
My sister has an Acer Windows XP desktop machine - just under a year old.
In this period of 11 months it has been back for repair three times, each time dealt with quickly.
The hard disc drive has been reformatted once and replaced twice.
For some unknown reason the Acer repair service reformatted the original disk as FAT32 rather than NTFS - and the replacement hard disc drive similarly formatted as FAT32.
As a result of the above experience I will never buy or recommend an Acer. Too much hassle having to reinstall data and software three times in a year.
Pros: Big hard drive, dual core processor. Cons: I can't really think of any.
I just bought my E360 a month ago, and I just have to say that its an awesome computer. It has no trouble running Doom 3 at a decent level of graphics, it multitasks very well thanks to its fast dual core processor, and is overall a responsive, good looking piece of hardware that is very useful. The 250 gig hard drive will hold tons of information with no worries about space. The ATI x600 graphics card does a great job of rendering games.
It's got two DVD drives, one's a reader and one's a burner so you don't have to copy the contents of a disc to your hard drive to burn it.
