Pros: Fast; stylish; full-featured; great screen; good power to weight ratio; build. Cons: That gritty feeling under hand; useless mouse; runs hot; a little expensive.
As with most of my reviews, I am not going to give you a run-down of all the features and specs of the Ferrari 4005, as that's all available on Acer's website and any number of other reviews on Epinions. Instead, I'm going to cut to the chase and tell ...
Pros: The COOLEST looking notebook on the market. Hard disk can be replaced easily.
Cons: IGO Juice has not made a tip that fits this model yet.
This is my second ACER. I was actually quite happy using my Acer 800 TravelMate CSi h

Pros: Fulfills everything on my notebook wishlist. Cons: Bluetooth mouse is quirky, SD card may take a while to register.
AMD is branding their product with anything fast such as NASCAR, Lance Armstrong, and Ferrari. I think I would like this product better without the prancing pony logo but its the other logos that I wanted: Turion, ATI X700, and Windows x64. I have a ...
Pros: Cool looks, great performance Cons: Mouse is a bit stubborn at times.
I upgraded to the Acer Ferrari once I used my Toshiba Tablet PC to death. The Acer is a great machine though. I was not expecting it to be a good as I have experienced thus far. Details: The casing is a real eye catcher with carbon covering and ...
Own Laptops: Ferrari 3400 Dual Boot XP Pro/Linux Suse 9.3 HP Notebook XP Pro I am upgrading to the Ferrari 4000 due to the AMD 64 Turion chip along with the new ATI X700. The 4000 arrived packaged with the laptop, battery, bluetooth ...
Pros: Delivers all it advertises. Cons: I like accessories and Acer is missing sales by not offering accessories.
I've had my Ferrari 4005 WLMI for a couple of months now. I haven't found anything I dislike except the placement of the delete key, which is so minor as to be unimportant. I use many graphics intensive accounting programs and need both power and speed ...
Pros: Built very nicely, great screen, wireless, very lightweight, elegant design. Cons: Bluetooth mouse doesn't work very well.
This is the most amazing computer. I got mine in the mail a few days ago, and I am really impressed with it. It is very powerful, with great battery life and nice features. The mouse hasn't worked well for me, but that doesn't matter because I have a different mouse I would prefer to use anyway.
The screen on this computer is really crisp and colors come through very nicely; the wireless is really strong as well. I get much stronger wireless connectivity on this laptop than on my previous one.
Pros: blindingly fast, clear bright screen, looks amazing. Cons: no compactflash in card reader, "only" 333mhzram, labelson wrist rest. may 'walk' away if leftalone
This is an excellent laptop for anyone that is looking for maximum performance and good looks. Can do anything with ease runs HL2, BF2 and most other games on the market maxed.
I didnt like the stock BT mouse, so it was replaced by MS BT Intellimouse which is great. Battery lasts fairly long, almost 3hrs watching a movie. Curved keyboard is nice, but took some getting used to. The home button is beside backspace, so sometimes it sends me to the begining of the line while I'm typing.
May seem expensive, but when you compare it to a similar dell, or LG, its not that bad.
Not as good as I thought by gugaassuncao ,Jan 19 '06
Pros: havenīt find yet. Iīm very mad with it yet. Cons: bluetooth mouse - (very slow)
Graphic Card - Only for gaming
I bought this very promissing notebook to work with 3d softwares. Believing the calling: 128MB of ati graphic card would give me all I needed. Great Ilusion. First, when I switched on the notebook I visualized something strange. The icons were kind of blured. I thought the graphic card was not working well. Then Installed Sketchup. It didnīt work well. Afterwards I went to the store and asked them to change for a new one. When the new one arrived I did the same procedures and realized that old problems persisted. Then I tried contacting ATI and they said: "Our graphic card is not for 3d aplications. They are suited for gaming." What I did? As I didnīt find any notebook with geforce graphic card I kept this one and had to disable hardware acceleration on Sketchup. My advise: " Not worthy at all". Cost-benefit very high for a "gaming machine".
Not many choices for a non-glossy 1680x1050 screen.. by dehlers ,Jun 17 '06
Pros: Good looks and a feel of quality. Fast, tremendous video card. Cons: Not price because I did not pay $2K, Hmmmmm..... Tough call.
After owning 1 Toshiba, 1 Sony, 1 HP, and another Acer during the last 6 months, I have finally found my keeper with this Ferrari machine. Not loaded with junk software!!! This ML-37 Turion Processor seems a bit faster than the Duo Core T2300 that I just sold. I use this laptop primarily to process RAW digital photos. I have color calibrated this monitor and my colors are great. My only other option was a Lenovo, but their widescreen model is not their greatest model, although it does have the non-glossy screen. I am tired of people giving this laptop a lower rating simply because they don't like the bluetooth mouse. LAPTOPS DON'T COME WITH A MOUSE ANYWAYS!!! I use a USB mouse, so therefore I won't complain.
Pros: Cool looking computer Cons: Customer Service is very bad
I have 2 Acers that I bought last Christmas and had problems with both of them. Once of them is the Ferrari, and then it was when I had my experience with customer service.... I will never buy another Acer again. Both computers were under warranty, but the customer service was not helpful, not flexible, and hard to reach.... I had to talk to multiple people and basically the conclusion that they gave me that I am out of luck. One computer because I could not start it to get the serial number, they told me pretty much is trashed, and the other one I did not have the receipt so they could not fix it even though the manufacturing date as few months beyond the end of the warranty. No common sense at all, not helpful....
Cool computer, but will not buy another Acer again...
Great performer and easy on the eyes. by kingdanimus ,Aug 09 '05
Pros: Powerful, Attractive widescreen, no pre-installed garbage-ware, sporty design Cons: Battery life could be better. Speakers a little soft.
I purchased the Ferrari 4000 series laptop and it is a speedy portable computing solution. AMD Turion processor provides significant power and the battery life lasts a respectable time (depending on apps running and display brightness) I think some Intels get more time. The display was bright and vibrant. Speakers are a little soft but I use headphones mostly. A great solution (and great looking too).
Pros: Great video, high-speed, low-power CPU, buy it now. Cons: Haven't found 64 bit drivers yet, so I can't upgrade to WinXP64.
This is finally the system I've been looking for for the last year. Everybody is selling high-end gaming systems with pentuim chips that fry your legs and have twenty minutes of battery life but the AMD 64 choices have been very limited. The Radeon X700 paired with the Turion ML-37 is super fast for gaming and still efficient enough to get three hours on a charge of plain windows work. The system stays cooler than my 1.6 GHz P-M Dell D-600 and the WUXGA screen is stunningly brilliant (No dead pixels, Yay!). Every feature you could want in a laptop is here. Gigbit ethernet, 802.11b&g, bluetooth, 4xUSB2.0, firewire, VGA, DVI, S-Video, dual-layer DVD+-RW slot-load drive, three-hour battery-life all wrapped up in a gorgeous, slick-looking carbon-fibre frame. What more could you ask?
Vote with your dollars for AMD!
