Pros: Comfortable, crisp, clear vision. Now available in + powers! Cons: Expensive.
I posted a similar review for this lens under the regular Acuvue lens reviews, and was soundly denounced for it, so I was pleased to discover that now there is a category for this particular lens. I adore this lens, even more so when I wrote the ...
Pros: comfortable, stays hydrated Cons: expensive, flimsy lens may make putting them in difficult, visible on eyeball
I've been wearing contact lenses for almost 15 years and only wear glasses once I'm home at night or on the occasional trip to the store or friend's house. This means I'm wearing my contact lenses for an average of 16 hours a day, and comfort means ...
Pros: Long wearing, few deposits, comfortable Cons: More expensive than regular lenses, eyes dry out quicker
First an admission, I am not the most careful of contact lens wearers. As a teenager, I re-used solution, or just plain old tap water. I wore contact lenses overnight long before there was a product approved for this. I even "forgot" to change my ...
Pros: In theory it corrects stigmatisms. Cons: Expensive, painful, difficult, ect!
I've been trying these for a month to try and give them a fair shot and they have been hellish! My eyes constantly feel like they are loaded with sand even for hours after the lens are out. The build up these collect after 8 hrs of wear (in any ...
Pros: Comfortable at first, keep eyes well lubricated Cons: Len buildup problems and ghosting at night
It should be noted, that I am wearing contacts for monovision, which means one eye for distance, one eye for close-up. As well, I suffer from dry eye due to corneal problems that required surgery on both eyes. As a result, my OD would only prescribe ...
Pros: Extremely comfortable and easy to adjust to, affordable Cons: Need rewetting drops, bad vision at night (glare)
I have not worn contacts in 17 years-seriously. Back then they were too much trouble, not comfortable and VERY expensive. I only wore them because I played sports. I finally got so tired of my glasses bothering my nose-and I moved to Houston where ...
Pros: none. Cons: stinging when placed into the eye, sandy feeling, cloudy, expensive
I tried these lenses for a four month period. I have worn lenses for 14 years however, I was having problems with these [from the beginning] so my doctor suggested starting off with a two hour wearing period and increase it daily. I did this, but the lenses always felt like I had sand in my eyes [even a brand new pair], and 80% of the time when I put them in, there was VERY intense burning. I tried everything, different cleaning solutions, rubbing, no-rubbing, drops, even going down to just wearing them for 4 days [8 hour days] before throwing them out, but even by then the lenses would get cloudy and extremely uncomfortable. I would not recommend these lenses to anyone.
Pros: Comfortable, doesn't move around on your eye Cons: Attracts deposits like the plague.
I've been wearing contact lenses for approx. 25 years. I started with Surevue, then Acuvue and then Acuvue 2. I LOVED and I do mean LOVED the Acuvue 2's. I could wear them forever without any problems no matter what environment I was in. Then my astigmatism worsened and I needed to change to a different type of lense. I went thru trial after trial lense until I tried the Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism. These didn't re-position themselves everytime I blinked which I liked. They were also fairly comfortable, but only after putting a drop of rewetting solution in before insertion. But, the deposits build up very fast and for some reason the left lense always builds up faster than the right lense. So I will be looking for something knew when my insurance plan cycles this coming year.
Pros: No emergencies when I lose one, disposable, comfortable Cons: expensive, harder to insert/take out than hard contacts
I have been wearing trial pair of these for two weeks now. I usually wear Boston ES rigid gas perms. My eye doctor reccomended these, and I thought I would give them a try.
When comparing them to my rgp's, I think these tend to be less sharp visionwise but not too much so, but I do like the fact that if I lose one I don't have an emergency on my hands because I can just replace it with a newer one. My eye doctor said that the difference between the gas perms and the torics would probably be enough to take some of the sharpness off words far away (ie. street signs) but not enough that you would not be able to read it (ie. lose a line on the vision chart).
They are very comfortable and easy to get used to. I have noticed that my eyes dry out quicker now than with my gas permables. I just carry around extra wetting solution.
I have a slight astigmatism (.25 L, 1.25 R), -7.0 in both eyes. I have been wearing contacts since 11.
I have been using Acuvue for astigmatism and they work fine, except for a little irritation when I first put them in. These lenses seem to be thinner, and they have a tendency to fold up into little tacos. It can be a little tricky to get them back to a lens-shape. A minor issue, as long as they perform well on your eyes.
The Acuvue Advance were comfortable the instant I put them in. The first problem I noticed however, was that there was a line in my vision that would come and go. I thought maybe I had something on the lens, so I took it out and rinsed it off. Reinserted, this time I got a ghost image (secondary image) of the profile of my nose. I also noticed some blurriness in my peripheral vision. I went to my computer, and letters on the screen had color fringes, and they were blurry compared to my old contacts. My head started to hurt as well.
Pros: None Cons: Difficult to manipulate. Twice as expensive as the old Toric lenses.
I could put my old Acuvue Toric lenses in my eyes in about a second. New Advance for Astigmatism take forever because they always fold over or roll up. It is really hard to unroll them, and I am always worried about tearing them when I try. When I finally do get them unrolled, they always look stretched out and are a weird shape. It sometimes takes me as long as a minute or more to get one in. Very annoying!
Plus, even though the manufacturer says you can use them for a month, my eye doctor only wants me to use them for 2 weeks. They come 6 to a pack vs. 12 for the old torics, which means I am paying twice as much now for contacts as I was before.
