Pros: stays on the cat well, works well and does so quickly, no real side effects Cons: very expensive
I live in Eastern Washington State, and with each Spring comes the infestation of fleas to the area. They wait for the warmer season, and attach themselves to any animals that want to wander by. The reason they can get bad around here, is that there is ...
Pros: Fast working, no smelly collars Cons: Have to repeat monthly, could they make a once yearly one?
We have used Advantage Flea Killer for Cats for the last few years. Our cats are all four different breeds that range from purebread Russian Blue and Norwegian Forrest to a mixed breed of the two to a well, we don't have a clue what Magoo is! ...
Pros: It kills fleas FAST without killing my cats. Cons: It costs money.
The Background Last Spring my indoor cats, for the first time ever, showed signs of having fleas. While a more detailed version of the story appears in my review of the Hartz flea drops product, the quick version is this: When I noticed fleas, ...
Pros: I did not experience any pros with this product. Just a lot of heartache. Cons: A combination of bad veterinary practice, and this product killed my beautiful cat.
Getting ready to move to another province, I had to get my cat checked out by the vet. For a cat to be eligible to fly on a plane, they must be in perfect health. The vet commented on how healthy she looked. After we got home the vet ...
Bad Reaction w/ Advantage Flea Control Product by dennisloyer ,Aug 27 '06
Pros: The fleas are likely going to die Cons: Both our cats could have been very sick for a few days.
On the advice of the vet, we treated our 3 month old kittens with "Advantage" as a flea precaution. Both are house cats and only get outside on their harness with supervision.
Within a few days both came down with the following bad reactions:
-loss of appetite
-lethargy
-muscle weakness/pain
Both cats had to be taken to the vet where fluids had to be administered (due to dehydration). Tests on the blood, x-rays and visits in an attempt to find the cause cost us $500 not to mention the worry of a sick pet.
Both cats coming down with the same symptoms seemed very strange until we read the possible side effects of Advantage. Our cats were fine after a couple of days but our family will never use this product again.
Got a treatment... still have fleas by twocutekittenz ,Sep 02 '06
Pros: None... There was nothing redeemable about this product. Cons: My cats had fleas after the treatment... enough said.
I took my cats for a visit to the vet and found out they had fleas, so they were given the Advantage Flea Killer Treatment for Cats. I was assured by the vet that they would scratch for about a day, but then the fleas would die, if any remained. They were scratching for days after, so I checked by running the flea comb through their fur, dipping it in between in a cup of hot water. I found 3 adult (with blood in each)/1 larvae on one; and 2 adults (again, blood-filled)/1 larvae on the other. I intend on bringing the bags from each cat back to the vet and demand a refund. I have heard that Advantage does not work well for cats, but I am most saddened to find out that this is true. My cats have suffered all for not and I will definitely be looking into a more reliable product that actually does what it's supposed to.
Advantage worked when Frontline failed by imnotcrazy ,Oct 28 '08
Pros: Fast working, easy to apply. Excellent results on my flea infested cats. Cons: Can't think of any.
I have 3 cats. They are all strictly indoor cats, but one of them snuck out when the door was open and wound up returning with fleas. Eventually all 3 of them were infested. One of my cats is allergic to fleas and ended up with scabs around her neck from scratching so much. I tried Frontline Plus first which had absolutely no effect on the fleas. They continued to get worse over the next few weeks. Finally I ordered Advantage after reading a review stating how it worked when Frontline didn't. I applied the Advantage to all 3 cats yesterday and today they have stopped itching. Yesterday they were itching constantly and today they are not itching at all. I am so impressed with this product, and I am thankful that I did not have to scrub my cats down with flea bath, they would not have liked that at all.
Advantage multi for cats works great!!!!! by emmy88 ,Jul 23 '08
Pros: awesome product worked extremely well!! Cons: a little pricey but well worth it!
My kitty was so allergic to fleas she constantly scratched to the point where she was losing fur.
I went to petsmart and the banfield hospital inside recommended advantage multi.
It was great!! I set timer at home and within 30 min she wasn't scratching as much. That same night she slept peacefully. I also like this product b/c it protects against earmites and ringworm. The banfield pharmacy will let you buy one dose at a time if you can't afford all at once. I got my one month dose for $19.00.
