Convenient, but not worth it

by lovemy2boys , Jun 01 '02
Pros: convenient, quick
Cons: doesn't last very long before something major goes wrong
We bought several different models of the Aero Bed, and finally just gave up on trying after this "Deluxe Bed"
They advertise on TV that these beds are suitable for everyday use as a regular bed, but after no more than 3 months it would no longer...

Poorly Made Product

by MissMerciful , Dec 31 '00
Pros: relatively comfortable
Cons: poorly made
We purchased an Aerobed Deluxe mattress in November. Our first one was slept on two times before the clasp on the deflator latch broke. The weight on the mattress was well within normal range. We finally managed to get another one, only to have it...

So comfortable I tossed out my regular mattress!

by mytwocentz , May 02 '07
Pros: Perfect back and body support, perfect comfort, affordable, and durable!
Cons: Might not work as well for heavy people, must keep away from sharp objects.
This bed is amazing- not only does it make a quick and handy guest bed, but it also makes a fine "regular" bed too! It perfect for people who have back problems- I used to have trouble sleeping every night because my spring mattress started sagging after ...

Does what it claims - just!
by robbie888 ,Aug 04 '04
Pros: Really does inflate and deflate as claimed
Cons: It will never be like sleeping on a real bed
I can confirm to you all that this bed does inflate really quickly and deflates even quicker. The only drawback with this air mattress is that it is filled with air. Sounds fair enough but you just can't kid yourself that this will be the same as sleeping on a regular mattress. I woke up a few times in the night which rarely happens to me. I would not recommend you use this on a hard floor because the mattress makes noises as it rubs against the floor. All in all its good as one of those spare beds for guests - just make sure they're really tired before they go to bed and don't mind sleeping on a big balloon!

Bed (bad) experience
by sbricklin ,Feb 19 '04
Pros: Nice design
Cons: Expensive
I purchased my 2 months ago. I guess, it was design for occasional use only.
Since I am traveling consultant, who has to stay in different places (read rent apartments), I decided to buy one. 2 month later (it means 60 uses later) it started deflating. Yes it is great, if you will use it 5-6 times a year, it will last you 10 years.

What a night sleep!
by mfm154 ,Aug 20 '04
Pros: Quick inflation, firm, does not have plastic feel
Cons: Requires two people to dispel all air and put in duffle bag
I recently spent a night over one of my good friends. When I was first told that I was staying on an air bed, I thought it was going to be a long night. That was until I laid down on the Aero bed. It is amazing. Not only does it inflate in minutes, it doesn't feel like an air bed. Most noticeable was the absence of that "plastic" feel everytime you roll over. It has this cloth cover over the mattress which helps to eliminate noises when a person moves on the bed. The next morning I attempted to put the bed back into the duffle bag which it comes with. I was envision a fierce battle, but the bed had a quick release for easy deflation. Folding took two people to help dispel the remaining air but we were able to put back into the duffle bag within 5 minutes. If you have out of town guests, then this is a must have!

Aerobed Valves
by gfwt ,May 11 '04
Pros: easy replacement service, and it's free
Cons: maybe the valve tab could have been more sturdy in the first place?
Had a very good experience with customer service at the Aerobed company.

After using my Aerobed queen bed occasionally over several years, I was disappointed to find that the plastic tab on the air valve had broken - and that the mattress would not hold air. Annoyed with the thought that I'd have to get a new bed just to deal with a stupid piece of plastic, I did a web search and found a review of someone who'd gotten a replacement valve from the company - just for writing.

And I've just done the same. If you use their website (Customer Service heading) to place the order, all you do is send in the model number of the pump and they send you a replacement valve, for free. Why they don't even charge shipping & handling, I don't know, but I'll take it. The directions for replacement are in .pdf form on the website, and I understand it's a straightforward. (I'll post back if not.)

Nice after-service, congratulations on knowing how to run a company.

comfortable for 6 uses then seam split
by kristi72 ,Oct 07 '07
Pros: comfortable
Cons: who knows when it will put your guests on the floor
We thought this was a great product until our guests ended up on the floor. We had only inflated and used the raised aerobed about 6 times before this happened. Unfortunately it can't be returned now because out of warranty

best rest, but leaks if used everyday
by dyylxmj ,Feb 15 '05
Pros: BEST SLEEP EVER.
Cons: leaks eventually with everyday use.
For occasional use it's probably the best you can buy. it is the best sleep i have ever had. i have not one complant except that i've had two in two and a half years. We use ours daily in a water bed frame, and from the video at the store this was the selling point. i was one month out of warranty and so they would replace it for thirty dollars for one with no warranty....and six months later this one leaked. Now all i can get and at $20 is a valve replacement kit, hopefully this will work. I have never had to patch, and a pain that it was to check, it was never a leak on the seams which i expected. I'll spring for a valve kit every year, but a new bed every year, at $200 for a queen size, i think not.

Internal baffles may break rendering bed useless
by dmorrisey ,Jan 16 '07
Pros: Easy to set up. Quite comfortable.
Cons: Not durable, even under moderate (160 pounds) use.
I used a full-size mattress a half dozen times over a period of three years, for a total of about thirty nights, always indoors, on a carpeted surface.

The mattress was easy to set up and quite comfortable for an air bed.

However, during my last use, the "pillow top" became "puffed up", the mattress lost its shape, and it could no longer be totally deflated.

I phoned Customer Service and was advised that an internal baffle must have broken (they seemed very familiar with the problem and the "puffed up" observation), that there was no way to repair the mattress, and that it would now be useless.

This was under careful use and a weight of approximately 160 pounds.

Aerobed Deluxe
by jpwong19 ,Feb 24 '06
Pros: Not too uncomfortable for short term sleeping
Cons: Poor build quality, slow leaks, 3 year expected life
I had one of these for about 4 years and during that time it worked fine... but then the mattress started developing lumps. I called Aerobed and was told that the air pockets were failing and that this was normal - the expected life of the mattress is 3 years. I'm personally not a fan of buying large disposable products and can't recommend the purchase of this one.
