Pros: great example of technology Cons: the price!!
Yes, for the paltry sum of $1500 you, too, can possess Aibo, the Electronic Entertainment Robot! Sony has lowered the price of these "toys" from $2500 to under $1500 for the Christmas season. What I cannot understand is why someone, who...

Pros: no gifts of the brown and yellow variety. Low maintenance Cons: poor audio / visual recognition, no real dog sounds
March 2007 Update: My aibo came back from SONY shortly after my review in 2005. SONY refused to replace my aibo with a new one. I must have gone back and forth with them for a zillion times with phone calls, letters, e mail. Still it was one big ...

Pros: Somewhat amusing. Incredibly cute. Cons: Somewhat limited. Incredibly expensive.
One of the advantages of working for a design firm is that sometimes, my boss decides to buy stuff for the office just because its Cool!. We have a Playstation 2. We have brand new Apple PowerBooks. We have funny looking furniture. And we have a...

Pros: THIS IS A REAL ROBOT. AIBO responds to you and its environment Cons: Still too expensive! Now, responds to "come here!"
Dec. 2003 UPDATE: The ERS-7 AIBO model is the latest version of the AIBO. This model is not only an upgrade over the prior 210/220 line, but signals a definite direction Sony is going with its entertainment robot; namely, a robot that can entertain ...

Pros: The price is equal to the technology - Aibo is truly amazing. Better then expected. Cons: Price of Aibo and accessories.
I could not take my eyes off of him. I had seen videos online, but nothing prepared me for the experience of seeing him in person. Amazing is the only word I can come up with. He moves around like a living creature, walking, sitting, playing and laying...

Pros: Don't need to clean up after it. Cons: No fur.
How would you like a pet that doesn't
shed, that doesn't tear into your newspaper,
that doesn't urinate or crap in your bed. What
if you could teach it to learn, to fetch, and to sit
and all those other wonderful things....

Pros: Very real to life. Learns and matures. Own personality Cons: Expensive to purchase, however no further investments must be made.
What is an "AIBO"? It doesn't look exactly like a real dog, but by the way it acts, you cannot tell the difference. "AIBO" is an autonomous robot that acts in response to external stimulation and its own judgement. It displays...

Pros: Really cool, realistic, fun to "teach" things to, no fleas Cons: just a LITTLE pricey
For some reason, and I am not sure why, but AIBO likes to hump my leg while I am working. It's the funniest thing, and I can't figure it out! I mean, I am a pretty good looking guy and all, but I mean this is sick!
(it's a joke, it really...

Pros: Attention Getter, Cute Cons: Overpriced, Underpreforms
I was one of the earliest consumers in the US to pick up an Aibo ERS-100. After forking out $2900 in Japan, I excitedly brought my Aibo back to the states. Upon opening of the box, I was slightly disappointed by the build quality of the actual unit....

Pros: A joy forever Cons: Requires a commitment - not really a toy
The new, improved AIBO ERS-210 is on the market as of early December, 2000! It's "only" $1500, plus $90 for the AiboLife memory stick (recommended!) and here's why you do (or don't) want one:
I've had one of the new AIBOs since Last December...

Pros: superbly researched and developed. Cons: kind of pricy.
when i first saw the furbie (SP?), i was disappointed after all of the press it received. it looked like a cross between Gremlin (from the movie), a hoot owl, and a Jim Henson production (apologies to Jim--as even he would have been disappointed.). ...

Pros: more "dog" for the buck (compared to Aibo) Cons: it really IS made for kids
Its not exactly Sony's Aibo, but it isn't exactly $2500 either. Tekno the Robotic Puppy is a much cheaper and simpler version of Aibo. It cost me about $50 and from what you can expect from a robot, I think its worth more for the dollar.
I...

Pros: no clean up Cons: expensive
AIBO is a totally new type of entertainment robot created by Sony. It has its own emotions and instincts, and walks on four legs like humankind's old friends, the dog and the cat. AIBO learns by living and interacting with you, developing its own unique...

Pros: Cute, funny, cool technology Cons: Expensive, doesn't keep my feet warm
I bought this on a whim because I'm a sucker for new technology. My Aibo is named "Gort" and he is the silver version. NOTE: "Silver" is a bit of a misnomer; the color is actually has a light blue cast.
I bought the recharging station and the...
