Pros: Price, size, features, compact flash support, 3.1 mega pixels, AA batteries, Doubles as flash drive Cons: Fragile plastic feel, no flash
When I went on vacation to Las Vegas this year I took with me four electronic things: a PDA, MP3 player, digital camera and a Hi-8 video camera. I used all of these things except the Hi-8 camera because I didn't feel like lugging that huge thing around. ...
Pros: small, lightweight, easy to use, multi-functional, decent bundled software Cons: NO FLASH! and poor low light picture taking.
I got this camera as gift and thought "what a crappy little camera, from company I never heard of". But it was a gift so I smiled and gave it try before boxing back up to be "re-gifted". I was pleasantly surprised by features within this little ...
Pros: Handy, very compact and inexpensive. Cons: Not for pros.
I got some gift certificates from a contest at work, so I ended up with an Aiptek DV3100+ Digital camcorder. Retail for it on the site was $130, I had about $100 in certificates, so it cost me $30. (Plus S&H). In the box was included, the camcorder, ...
Pros: Good Battery life. Small and light. good Audio Cons: VERY Dark video, cheap construction.
I joined epinions just to write this review, because there wern't very many when I was shopping for this camera. I bought it back in Early December and took it on a Caribbean cruise. I returned the camera when I got back from the trip. I still might ...
Pros: Small, nice LCD screen, good sound, adequate photos Cons: Refused my 256MB CF card, grainy in low light
I was planning to use this card for taking pictures on day hikes and limited video. After trying all the functions, I have determined that the DV3100 adequately does the job in all three functions as advertised. First, the camera itself takes pictures ...
Pros: Easy to use, long lasting, tripod included, voice record, easy delete, changeable memory modules, versatile. Cons: Only 2x digital zoom, no flash, no external power, cannot change batteries while mounted
I have one of these units that I purchased last month. Unlike both previous reviews, I am thoroughly satisfied with this machine. True enough it does not have a flash but if you've got proper software even a dark photo can be brought back in. As for ...
Pros: Easy to use, TV I/O, USB cables, case Cons: no flash, feels cheap and lightweight.
I just bought the Aiptek DV3100 and I must say that comparing the quality and features to numerous other digital cameras, this one is equivalent to cameras that cost around $300, not only because it's 3.1 mega pixels. I've owned several digital cameras ...
Pros: Good quality video for the price Cons: won't make professional quality video
It is an INEXPENSIVE camcorder. You are not getting a lot of bells and whistles, but you are not PAYING for them either! I have had a great deal of success with mine. I have had it for about 3 months. The one thing I like the best about it is that it ...
Good for its price, not for serious videography by notverysmart ,Aug 01 '06
Pros: Cheap, relatively durable, pocket-sized, okay still image quality Cons: Poor sound quality, medium video quality, lighting problems, low memory without SD card purchase
Of course in buying this camera, you can't expect top quality, but I've had mine for 2 or 3 years now and it's captured a few funny conversations and hyjinks that are always fun to reminisce on.
The sound quality is nothing short of poor and the ability to adjust to low light conditions suffers greatly too, but it works fine outside or in well lit rooms.
The still images it takes are actually pretty decent quality and with a relatively economical SD card purchase, it can hold all the pictures you'd ever take. However, the lighting problem is an issue with this feature as well. This isn't so if you buy one of Aiptek's new models with the flash for just a few dollars more, but that one wasn't out 2 years ago.
It's a pinch wide, but the newer model addresses that problem as well.
Overall, I'd recommend this camera for someone that's going to use it every once in a while or just wants a new toy to mess around with. I definitely suggest buying a SD card with this camera, too. The video length is painfully short without it.
I needed a new camera so I picked this one up because it was reasonably priced at $99, I can say I am pretty happy with it for the price I paid. It's very small and lightweight and I can fit it in my coat pocket when im not carrying it. Outside in bright light this camera works great, but because it has no flash it does'nt work in dim or low light areas. Basically if its not brightly lit then your pictures will be very poor. On the upside you can shoot video as well and you can add extra storage by buying a compact flash card.
Terrific value for the price by delenn_of_mir ,Jan 04 '04
Pros: tiny and lightweight, digital voice recorder, shoot movies with sound! Cons: no flash, microphone jack, or case. Delete only from computer
I was looking for a small lightweight camera that I could keep in my purse. This is palm sized, but has a decent color LCD screen.
I've looked at other cameras online, and this is the only one I have seen at anywhere near this price that will shoot digital movies with sound. The movie quality is about what you would expect from a $100 camera, but if you don't have another movie camera (and I don't) you can have tons of fun with this one.
You can also use it as a digital voice recorder alone (without pictures).
It's 16MB internal memory would probably be just fine for someone who downloads frequently (15 pictures or 4 minutes of video). I added a 512MB compact flash card, which will store an hour of video or 200+ pictures.
The product is not reliable by yuby8118 ,Nov 07 '03
Pros: no good Cons: not reliable and easy to out of order
I bought this camera from auction.
I thought this camera is good but I am naive to think like that. With just NZ$265 price it can't be reliable like big other companies such as Sony or Canon etc.
First of all, this camera is so easy to be broken.
There is no obvious reason why my camera isn't working.
Probably the operation order is important but in the manual there is no warning.
Anyway if you buy this camera be warned that this camera is not reliable and easy to be out of order.
Pros: C.C.C. - Cheap, Convenient, Compact Cons: No flash; plastic cover falls off easily.
If you just want to share your photos and video clips with friends over the internet, DV3100 is something you can consider. Having used this little gadget for 4 months, I find it's still picture quality is much better than that of the video. At 10 fps, video shooting is OK provided that you have good lighting, and the AVI files are widely acceptable by any video editing softwares - those ASF files (mpeg 4) cannot be easily edited. Prices keeping falling. I paid less than 100 bucks for it and now you can find one at about $85! I use a 512mb CF card which gives me more than enough room for storage. There are lots of photo/video samples at www.firebox.com and I won $50 pounds from it by submitting my video clip with this DV3100 :)
Compact, multi-purpose but bad quality photos by efsunselin ,May 11 '04
Pros: voice & video recorder, webcam and camera. small size. Cons: bad quality photo. do not have flash.
I bought this cam because I thought that it is suitable for multi-purpose use, and 3.1 megepixels would produce good quality photos.
Since there is no built in flash the photo quality is not good especially when light is not enough. I'm currently having problems with the cam. It sometimes does not turn on.
