Akai LCT3201TD 32 in. TV/DVD Combo

Pros: 1000:1 Contrast Ratio priced below competition, power button *not* located at bottom center
Cons: Coax gives bad audio, unergonomic remote whose code is AWOL, panoramic mode creates motion sickness

We bought this set on the spur of the moment at Office Depot for $599 because we had been reshuffling the TV sets in our house and we decided not to repair a 5 year old 31" RCA. Both the one without the built-in DVD and the one with the built-in DVD ...

Pros: Built in DVD player
Cons: Unreliable, buggy.

I purchased this TV. Within 2 weeks I had to return it because the picture would turn into multi color ghosts. A call to AKAI tech support yielded the information that I should return the unit to the retailer as it was a defective unit. I exchanged the TV for another of the same make and model. Within 3 months the second TV would come on and work for about 2 minutes then shut off. There was a very strong smell like electronics burning.
I did not purchase an AKAI on the 3rd go around.
AKAI seems to have major problems with this TV.
