Pros: Some interesting lyrics, General vocals Cons: Repetitive, Short, A better version exists
As I prepare to begin reviewing my May Artist Of The Month (Fleetwood Mac, for those interested!), I decided it was high time I finished off the backlog of music reviews I had and finally posted my review of David Bowie's "Aladdin Sane," the final album ...
Pros: Still great after 29 years! Excellent, rocking, ground breaking, glam rock! Cons: None.
I just got this on CD for the holidays. I put it on and danced around singing the way I did when I was 16 years old. Hips shaking, layers of clothing disappearing as I worked up a good sweat. I’ve been a Bowie fan since high school and I’ve had this...
Pros: The great glam-music. Artsy, hooky, and, most importantly, entertaining. Cons: "Panic in Detroit" was never my favorite.
Track Overview BEST SONG: Either "Aladdin Sane" or "Jean Genie" Watch That Man A Aladdin Sane A+ Drive in Saturday A- Panic in Detroit B- Cracked Actor A- Time A The Prettiest Star A- Let's Spend the Night Together A Jean Genie A+ ...
Pros: An Excellent Album from David Bowie. Cons: None!
After the success of 1972’s “Ziggy Stardust” album, David Bowie was becoming a huge musical superstar in the U.K. and certain parts of America. During that entire year of 1972, Bowie caused scandal announcing to the world that he was gay (though in...
Pros: A thrilling blast of glam rock at its most ostentatious, overblown and exhilarating Cons: The genre died in 1974
On the face of it, this record would appear to be fuelled by two things. The first being drugs, of course, and the second ambition. There have been debates between the musical pointy heads as to just how much of a classic this record actually is, and ...
Pros: More great songs, and some delicious twisted production. Cons: Follow-up to Ziggy Stardust... bound to disappoint on some level
By 1974, Bowie had proven himself one of the most interesting artists of his time, and also one of the most prolific (Elton John had him beat in that respect, but not by much). With the one-two punch of "Hunky Dory" (a twisted take on classic...
Pros: Great songs, great performances from Bowie and band Cons: Not long enough!
How do you follow an album like The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars? Bowie basically started glam with that album. He not only started glam, he created its most enduring and incredible work. An album to follow that one would...
The Seventies... a very peculiar time in the world's musical history... a period which was probably kicked off by Marc Bolan and his itsy bitsy glitzy boy from Freecloud persona, graduating from his hippy dippy underground roots and the original...
Pros: Bowie's Hits Drive in saturday and Jean Genie Cons: Jagger cover Drive in Saturday not original.
The album starts off with Watch That Man, an upbeat song telling a young girl to watch that. The man is a 'jerk' but is obviously beautiful as Bowie says ' he could eat you with a fork and spoon.' A good song to start the album.
