Pros: usually costs less than Claritin; melts in your mouth Cons: pricey; horrid taste & texture; didn't work at all
Everyone in our home has seasonal allergies. Where we live that means they're noticeable year round, and go from tolerable to really bad in late Winter, early Spring. Starting a few months ago we began testing out the new OTC allergy meds. My husband and...
Pros: dissolve fast and do not taste bad Cons: everything else
I was so happy when I came home from our visit back home to find a sample for Alavert in my mail. I had just ran out of my allergy medicine and knew that I would not be able to get into the doctor until Monday. My eyes were itchy and my nose was running ...
Pros: dissolves instantly and works quickly, kids over six can take as well - non-drowsy
Cons: can only take one tablet daily (24-hour period)
I first learned of Alavert when I spotted a commercial touting how this can be taken in the middle of nowhere at the first onset of allergy symptoms. What I did not realize when viewing the commercials was that this is a 24-hour relief in a...
Pros: Fast acting, no water needed, relieves allergy symptoms Cons: Yucky taste
If you suffer from allergies, then I’m sure you understand the need for immediate relief. I am allergic to virtually everything airborne: pet hair, pollen, grass, dust, mold - oh it just goes on and on. It’s been like this since I was about seven years ...
Pros: Works like a charm for me! Cons: none that I found
I have maybe one of the most frustrating allergies. I am only bothered when it is cloudy or when there is a heavy fog. When it is cloudy or foggy I get a very stuffy feeling in my sinuses, even though I have a stuffy feeling my nose runs like a faucet ...
Pros: No water needed, plesant taste, long lasting relief in one dose. Cons: So far lasts less than the 24 hours between doses.
I have been a seasonal allergy sufferer for as long as I can remember. In that time, I have used, TAVIST (slow to act), SUDAFED (worked fine for me), and BENADRYL (wiped me out completely). Spring and Summer are the worst for me between ...
Pros: Non-sedating, No prescription required, no need to swallow, ubiquitous $4.00 coupon Cons: No pill available--only fast melt tab, No insurance reimbursement, NOT non-sedating if taken >1X/day
Preface to remarks--I'm a board certified allergist. I've gotten 'somewhat helpful' ratings on prev ...
Pros: A good idea for allergy suffers... Cons: But it doesn't work long enough.
After seeing the several TV ads for the Alavert, and finding a $2 off coupon in the sunday paper a few weeks ago, I decide to give it a try to see if it would be any better than my usual allergy meds of sudafed and chlor-trimeton.
Pros: I didn't get drowsy, a bit of relief taking TWO pills at once Cons: Did VERY little for my itchy eyes. Double dose is needed for
even minimal relief.
I am new to allergy suffering. I wasn't even sure i had one until i did lots of research because i never had allergies in my life. It was the weekend, so my dr. wasn't available & my eyes were so red & itchy that i thought i would rub them out of my ...
Pros: Small package doesn't take up as much space in the landfill. Cons: Excruciating pain that lasts for many hours thanks to their special time release system.
This year my allergies hit hard so I decide to try this stuff. BIG MISTAKE. First it is expensive. I thought that it would be worth the extra money to not have to take it as often and to have it work through the night. Before taking Alavert my nose was ...
Pros: Nice box/marketing - claims will entice someone to buy Cons: Doesn't work one bit, too expensive, false advertising, bad product, causes anger when doesn't work
I bought a 12 pack of Alavert at Target in PA after suffering a really bad sick day at work. It did not have any effect on me whatsoever. None. It's a bad (expensive) product and doesn't work. Should be taken off of the market and/or revised. Stick to other brands. Don't waste your time & money.
Alavert Does Not Work for some people by gordon_brinton ,Sep 07 '04
Pros: I hear that it worked for others and provided the relief for around 24 hours. Cons: Alavert doesn't work for everyone; even a double dose did not provide relief for me.
I have a bad ragweed allergy in the fall and I decided to try Alavert for my symptoms. I purchased a 60 pack (60 day supply) of the kind that dissolves in your mouth. I found to my dismay that apparently Alavert does not work for everyone, and indeed, it did not work for me. After around 4 or 5 hours after I took the first pill, I was still having itchy eyes and a congested nose. It was as if I hadn't even taken the pill. I didn't have access to other medications to alleviate my symptoms so I went against the recommended dosage and took a second pill. Even after the double dose, I still did not have any relief from my symptoms. 24 hours passed without even the slightest hint of allergy relief. (By the way, the second dose did not make me drowsy like I thought that it would) I'm hoping that I can take the unused portion back to Walmart and get a refund.
24 hour relief is not true!!!!!!!!! by als0318 ,May 07 '08
Pros: Tastes good, easy to take, cheap Cons: Does not give you lasting relief as promised! Not even close!
My allergies always kick in when the trees start pollenating in the spring, and I bought Alavert because its easy to take and was on sale. It works for maybe 2 hours, thats it. I took it last night before bed when I started getting symptoms and within an hour they were gone, but now this morning they are back in full force. 24 hour relief is NOT TRUE!!!! I don't know why I keep buying this stuff.... it just doesn't do the job.
