Nice idea, bad execution.

Pros: USB to USB copying Cons: Poor duribility, price and not fully what it says.
When I first saw this on Target's web site, I was quite excited. My camera uses SM cards which are getting harder to find and this was a good option for saving the pics.
The Aleratec site claims the screen is back lighted. It's not and there was nothing in the manual even mentioning that it is or could be turned on. When I called all they would say is it is just not in the traditional manner. Black text on a grey screen with a light grey backdrop is not backlit. The batteries are under the controls. When using the buttons the battery cover often pulls off as well. The card reader slots on mine are pretty much useless. The slots worked 3-4 times but then corrupted any SM or SD cards placed in it, including brand new ones.
I also found an identical style unit at CompUSA for less.
The unit is a nice idea, but the execution of it in this device is flawed at best.
