Pros: Looks and sounds terrific. Tons of options. Like a concert in your car! Cons: Have to hold the power button to turn off.
After recently purchasing a new "sweet" car, MB slk 230, without a CD player I was in the market for a CD/MP3 deck to match. I looked at several decks at my local hi-end car audio store & after the salesman turned on this baby I was sold.
Pros: 60 watts peak x 4 channels, Can Change Colors, XM Ready! Cons: Faceplate can scratch easy if your not careful, Everybody wants one!
I have had my Alpine CDA-7894 for over 3 months now. I personally feel that I could not have got a nicer deck for the money. The Germans make the best when it comes to Car Audio. Before making this purchase I did allot of research on other decks in...
Pros: Beautiful receiver Cons: None, no scratches on my faceplate
Turbocharge your MP3s with V-Drive high power! Alpine put their most potent MOFSET60 hybrid amp into the CDA-7894, so all your tunes will have the crankability they deserve. This versatile receiver plays MP3 files burned onto CD-R and CD-RW as well as...
Pros: Excellent sound,Very powerful ,Great features and quality Cons: None
You just can't beat this unit for the money, MP3's sound as good as CD ( when burned at a high bit rate like 256 or 320kbps) and access is very quick. The sound shaping features are great, you can tweak this thing like theres no tomorrow.I recommend the...
Pros: Solid mp3 playback with id3 tag info, small gaps between mp3s, tons of features! Cons: Song search option sucks
Searching...
I am currently working on getting another car audio system together so I really wanted something that had very good sound quality and lots of features, but I really wanted the mp3 decoding ablility. I love having 13+ full cds...
Pros: Flawless Operation, No Skips, Great Reception, Easy to Use Cons: Easy To Scratch Face Plate
I bought this receiver several months ago. Up until then I have owned a pioneer, Blaupunkt, and Clarion Pro Audio receivers. I will never go back. When I first saw the price ($400+) I balked, but after doing my research and realizing what a quality...
Pros: Excellent sound quality, easy to read display, amazing amount of options. Cons: Faceplate scratches easily, track listing in MP3 mode is awkward.
I purchased this receiver about 2 months ago from Audio-Video Unlimited in Abbotsford. I have never regretted that purchase since. After spending about 3 hrs installing the player, I was up and rolling. The 7894 is a little more complicated to set...
Clarion has always been my number 1 choice for car stereo head units, but I decided to give Alpine a try in my new 2003 Chevy truck. There were just a few things I thought that the Alpine had above the Clarion units in the same price range so I took a ch ...
Pros: price, 3 sets of pre-amp outputs, sound quality Cons: almost too many features, it's hard to remember them all
I'll keep it short. For the price this is the best CD/MP3 deck out there. I instlled mine in a Chevy Silverado with the stock speakers and immediately heard a dramatic difference in sound quality. The 3 set of pre-amp outputs are really nice if you are...
Pros: Clear and Crisp
full Feature unit
Clear perfection from 4V preouts.
Ergonomically well engineered. Cons: some of the setup features for a do-it-yourselfer might be a bit overwhelming.
I've been into car stereos a long time. The industry has come a long way in the past 20 years. Alpine has certainly raised the bar on this line of head units. First, Alpine has finally returned to the traditional volume knob -- a major plus when your mom...
Pros: Sounds Great, lots of options, lots of power. Cons: nothing
This Alpine 7894 reciever is great. Plays mp3, cd, cdr, cdrw, has cd changer controls. You name it, Alpine has it. There are so many different controls, it will take you a very long time to know how to use them all. The bass is great. You can control the...
Pros: MP3 Support, bright display, solid sonic quality, multi band equalization Cons: Potentially difficult to tune equalizer, limited visualization options, mp3 access is sloppy.
The 7894 isn't a flagship product, however, you wouldn't know it by listening to it.
For the audiophile, the 7894 is a tuning dream. Offering extensive options for both bass and treble control in addition to independent subwoofer output...
Pros: high quality sound, built-in amp, ease of use, turn dial volume Cons: had to get it repaired, no fancy displays
This will just be a quick review, since you can read the others for more info.
I had this unit for one month and then it shorted out on me. I sent it in for repair (they are very quick - within one week it was back in my hands), but then it...
Pros: Extensive "Fine Tuning" Capabilities, superb sound quality, ease of use. Cons: Plastic faceplate can scratch quite easily.
I have been using the Alpine CDA-7894 Deck for about a month now - enough time to become very familiar with all its extensive features and attributes. I have to say, that I am very pleased with my purchase.
I got this unit about a month ago and couldn't be happier. I was considering less expensive mp3 playback units from JVC and Pioneer, decided to go with alpine because of their great reputation.
The sound quality is superb and the unit is very powerful compared with other head units. It is also very expandible with 4V pre-amp and sub outs. mp3 playback is good, though the file finding feature isnt the greatest, access time for mp3s has not been an issue, neither has skipping (pretty good considering I drive a wrangler!). I was sceptical of the Media Xpander feature, but it truly improved the quality during mp3 playback.
One caveat, alpine will not honor the warranty if puchased from non-authorized retailers, which means most online stores.
Overall, though this unit costs a bit more that similar units, the excellent sound quality, power, features, expandilility make it worth it. . .you get what you pay for!
