American Express Automatic Cashback is NONE of those!

by justjimwarren , Aug 05 '07
Pros: Supposedly 5% cashback for gas, wireless and office. 1% on "everything else". Supposedly credited automatically.
Cons: At-pump charges by major oil companies randomly DON'T earn 5%. No way to know!
In Dec'06, I began using American Express' new Cash-Back credit card, that promised 5% rebates on "gas", wireless and office supplies, and 1% rebates on all other purchases charged to the card. All would be "automatically" credited to the account, ...

Pros: 5% cash back on Gas,Online Dispute, International Currency Conversion, Open savings
Cons: not as welcome as VISA/MASTER
a person with over 10 years in Credit card experience and a few who truly discovered the beauty of credit card. The American Express Simply Cash rebate card is truly the best. First of all, you simply get 5% rebate on gas purchases (even in Costco ...

Good card if your year-to-date spend is exactly $15K

by joelmeu , Oct 02 '06
Pros: Effectively 1.5% cash back if you spend exactly $15K per year (no more, no less)
Cons: No broad spending categories that earn a higher cash back percentage
If you spend exactly $15K, then you'll earn a net of 1.5% cash back on the AmEx Platinum Business Cash Rebate card. If you spend more or less than $15K, then your net cash back percentage will be less than 1.5%. The reason is that you earn 0.5% on the ...

Unsolicited - security breach
by texasskyscapes ,May 17 '04
Pros: Easy for anyone to get this season - yikes!
Cons: Security breaches - avoid such people & businesses at all costs
My wife just received this card in the mail, although neither of us asked for it. All that was required, was to call the 800 number to activate it an begin charges to my business ... although she does not have (nor desire) such credit privileges.

Can you imagine the consequences .....
If she were estranged and bitter?
If this card went to others that American Express deemed proper without consulting the business Owner?

I was wondering how AmEx was able to boost its positive image on CNBC! I guess this is happening to many others.

I have searched all the literature (w/o reading glasses for the very fine print) for a contact, so I may reject this card and file a complaint - NONE, not even a return envelop. I DO see a 19%+ interest rate!

I believe in "tip of the iceberg" impressions, so beware of future relations. I am cutting this card up! No, I won't be cancelling my account, as Suze Orman suggests inactive accounts are better for credit than cancelled ones - no one seems to question WHY an account has been cancelled, raters assume the worse.

Cash Back - - Credit Card
by hank1973 ,Nov 07 '03
Pros: Great rewards, Flex payment schedule and low apr
Cons: Took a long to to get it in the mail.
I have been on Epinions for a long time and respect the views expressed here.

I saw the review of
http://www.creditcardzone.net

I have been looking for a new cash back credit card. I have been looking for a new American Express credit card. I went to the official Amex Card site but was rather disappointed to see a very difficult to navigate type of interface.

The review of "Credit Card Zone" was dead on it was in fact easy to compare the different offers and Credit Card applications.

Now on to the actual card. I found the rewards to be great. 5% on many of my daily purchases. Then I could choose at the end of the year what I wanted. A check, travel awards, Airline miles.

For my business it is important to have flexible spending. This card offers it. My only downside comment is that it took nearly 6 weeks to get it.

Here is the link for the Amex cards on that site.
