Pros: Nothing on the market is as sleek looking. Cons: Graphic designers may not like the lack of adjustability.
I have a whole roomful of Macs since I repaired them for nearly a decade. Having seen many different monitors made by Apple, the easel style LCD is one of the prettiest monitors they have ever designed. Having the industry standard one year warranty ...
Pros: Small unit, allows one to replace antenna Cons: Doesn't work, terrible installation process
There are three computers at my house, two desktops and one laptop. Call it fate, but the desktop PC’s are exactly on the opposite sides of the house. And to make things even more interesting, the one room in the middle of the house that has access to a ...
Pros: Good performance and relative ease of set-up. Cons: "Virtually" all WiFi supported means there will be some incompatibilities.
The D-Link DLW-G710 is a major improvement on previous D-Link range extenders. This one uses a built-in wizard to locate a WiFi network and guide the user into setting it up correctly. That said, there are some caveats with this product. When first ...
Pros: Easy set up. Good performance. Small unobtrusive unit. Cons: none
You may be confused by the contrasting nature of reviews here. I don't blame you. In my opinion, if you are not familiar with words and acronyms including "Ethernet", "WEP" or "Static IP Address" you will most certainly be confused by the DWL-G710. ...
Pros: Relative ease of setup; performance; cost. Cons: Documentation inconsistent with actual product (both hardware and software).
I desperately needed a way to extend the coverage of my home wireless network. I had added a computer to my existing wireless network in my garage/basement, and I could receive NO signal from my wireless router. I was beginning to believe that my ...
Pros: If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Cons: Too many wasted hours & it messed up my network.
I purchased the D-Link Range Extender through Best Buy.com. Despite the assurances in the D-Link instruction manual that I would be set up in a few minutes, the range extender would not connect to my network no matter how many ways I tried. I spoke ...
Pros: None. Does not work. Cons: Does not work with routers deemed compatible by D-Link
When I had Comcast cable I had a superb Linkys wireless router setup. All that went to the wayside when Verizon installed FIOS in my home and forced upon me a D-Link DI-624 wireless router that only gave limited signal. I bought the G710 from ...
Pros: Simple to configure and use; network cable included; AC adapter does not block other outlets Cons: Site scan function in configuration page is a bit flaky; doesn't support WPA-AES
I am a bit surprised at the other reviews here. I have had no problems with the DWL-G710. I selected the DWL-G710 over wireless range extenders from other manufacturers based solely on price. This is the first D-Link product I have owned. I live in an ...
Pros: Good image, two USB ports, direct connection to Apple AVI. Cons: No warranty means no spare parts: may as well buy a new one.
I purchased this product in summer, 2001 along with a G4 cube. I've used it with Mac OS 9, Mac OS X, and Yellow Dog Linux, currently using Mac OS X (Jaguar). The unit has clear, good color, has two USB ports, and plugs directly into Apples AVI ...
Pros: Great if you enjoy wasting money on products that don't work. Cons: Doesn't work. Terrible Support.
Let me start by saying that I've been using computers since the days of Commodore 64, have built several, and worked in IT for several years. I know what I'm doing, although from the product description, I shouldn't have to. Set up for this range ...
Pros: Very high quality screen. Bright with excellent resolution, low pixelation. Cons: LCD not servicable if a problem occurs. Very limited warranty when these were new.
I finally decided to retire my old heavy 17" CRT, replacing it with a gently used Apple 17" ADC M7649 flat screen LCD! Working in a college setting I had heard the IT department talk about the extremely limited warranty Apple applies to these units. And ...
Pros: Bright screen, touch sensitive control on front for sleep/power/adjustment, single cable connection, clean design. Cons: Apple should offer Apple Care for monitors when purchased by themselves.
Having 'switched' to a Mac not to long ago, I continued using my old Iiyama Vision Master 17" monitor. Being that I paid more for it, than this Apple Studio display, I couldn't get myself to do it. Then when the colors began to shift a bit on the 8 ...
D-LINK wireless extender (repeater) G710 by drjohnjones ,Feb 07 '06
Pros: Easy to install, worked first time. Cons: None
Took it out the box, followed the instructions and it worked just fine. Now have full coverage around the house.
You'll find lots of conflicting reviews, which kinda bothered me a bit. However, I think that provided you follow the instructions, connect it to a machine specifying a static IP address and use the wizard you should not have any problems. It literally took no more than 10mins from taking it out the box to finishing the installation.
Also downloaded Network stumbler to help decide on the best place to put the Repeater. Work fantastically...
excellent recommend highly by sukey043 ,Feb 28 '06
Pros: fast, works great out of the box..did not even have to look at the manual Cons: none-any experienced user with basic computer and wireless knowledge can set this up
i have to question the abilities of the people giving negative comments on this unit..wireless can be intimidating to newbies and those who are not technically saavy..that i think this might be the case..i found out of the box that the unit worked well and did the job..it did not need the mentality of a rocket scientist..but you have to have some basic common sense..and the understanding of wireless networking basics..beyond that..it was flawless..and the manual..was not even needed...heck i did not even look at it..it is happily providing a boost in speed and distance as i type..go buy it..you won't regret it..and you should not even need to pester dlink support with questions..heck you won't even need the manual.
It works fine with linksys Router by jogary56 ,Dec 30 '05
Pros: Setup was easy, decent size, good performance, solved my problem Cons: Incomplete manual, don't explain issues related to IP range.
I was troubled by the fact that the D-Link technical service FAQ mentions that this range expander doesn't work with a linksys router. The setup was easy following the instructions but I had to change the range of dynamic addresses used by the linksys router to the same IP range that the D-Link range expander uses (198.162.0.xxx) This was the key to make it work and now I use it in the second floor, where I had a very low signal and am now getting an excellent level signal.
