Pros: Extremely Fast, Runs Windows Too, Gorgeous design Cons: Noisy, Slow on PPC Applications
I’ll start off by saying that I do not own a MacBook Pro. Normally, that would be enough to make almost any review suspect, however I actually did buy one, use it for a few days, and then return it before buying my 15” PowerBook G4. This might seem ...
Pros: Beautiful. Fun. Fast. Wonderful customer support on phone and in store Cons: Cannot be placed on the lap. Heats up to dangerous levels.Compatibility, pricey.
This review is written by an avid PC user, who just bought his first Mac ever. I loved PC's and was tempted to buy a Mac after experiencing horrible customer service by Dell. I said to myself, let's give those guys a chance. Yes. Advertising works. ...
Pros: Fast, Magsafe power adaptor, Spotlight search, sexy design Cons: heat issues, lack of built in card reader, poorly placed power connector
As a die hard PC user since the original IBM XT with MS DOS, I never thought I would get a Mac. However, I bought my first iPod about 5 years ago, and fell in love with the sexy design, ease of use, and the best in its class user interface. So, ...
Pros: Fast, well-designed, sexy machine Cons: Machine runs hot, and some quality control issues with noise
The MacBook Pro is the worthy successor to the venerable PowerBook line. It couples the storied industrial design of the Apple team and the legendary ease of use of Mac OS X with the pep of Intel's newest processors. Physically, the MacBook Pro is ...
Pros: Super Fast processor, Crisp Clear Screen, excellent design and system. Very good customer service resolution Cons: Initial shipment had a bad stick of RAM which delayed use.
As a professional photographer I rely upon my computers as a major part of my workflow. I jumped through hoops to get my MacBook Pro configured with 2GB of RAM (I live in Chicago, and made the hilarious error of trying to purchase the laptop at the ...
Pros: It is shiny, you don't get viruses Cons: Unreliable, bad customer service, bad value for money, inconsistent build quality.
The Computer itself: Looks very nice. It's quick, and the screen looks nice. I had no problem toting it around to classes and work using a Mac-case Sleeve (recommended). The keyboard is a bit mushy, but the keys are very quiet. They don't make much ...
Pros: The finest computer that I've ever owned -- fun, intuitive, easy to use.
Cons: Battery life fair. Full charge is generally good for about 75-90 minutes of use.
I bought this computer when it first came out a few years ago. I have never regretted a moment of owning it. I also have a Dell PC laptop from work that I can use and it just doesn't work for me. The fact that the Mac is Window's based is a big ...
Pros: A near flawless computing experience with beautiful hardware and software integration. Cons: A little wait for Photoshop and others to become as fast as they can be.
I got mine about 3 months ago and have basically been thrilled with it as my main work machine (replacing my 3 year old 17" Powerbook). I can say that the 'Universal' apps - those written for the future of the OS X platform and supporting both the ...
Pros: Everything...Crisp Screen, Speed, Support Cons: NONE!
I recently went down to the Apple Store at my local shopping center, and fell in love. Yes, love...with a computer. Not just any computer, however...a computer that has 2 things working in its favor:
1) It is NOT a PC
2) It IS a MAC
and well those are the two major things I was looking at when making the decision on this computer. I weighed my options carefully. I investigated PCs, and the best PC brand I could find out there was Dell, and even so, they are still susceptible to viruses.
The MBP, is a pure bred winner. With blazing speed, large hard drive, and crisp screen, there is nothing quite like it!
I had ONE problem, with the charging unit...cord was in constant movement, which led to the severing of the cord from the magnetic charging :professional sounding word: Je ne sais quois (thing in french)...I went to the Apple store, and they replaced it, no questions asked.
It is worth the cost, and not enough words can say that this laptop is the absolute best piece of computer machinery I have EVER bought!!!
Fastest Apple Laptop Ever! by dmantelli ,Apr 11 '06
Pros: Fast and looks great. Apple has quickly resolved the issues I have experienced. Cons: Quality issues. I have had battery, heat and noise issues.
Simple elegant Apple design. This is the fastest Apple computer I have used. Fast boot up and runs all my applications faster. Comes with Mac OS X which makes Windows look like it was written by a bunch of amateurs. Comes with iLife 06, simply the best photo, movie, music package for home users on the market today.
I love the crisp clear LCD screen, backlit keyboard, and built in iSight camera. The keys are solid, have a pleasant noise and tactile response. Built in speakers have adequate volume and tonal quality. Battery life is around 2 hours.
Update: Well my battery started bulging, so I brought it to the Apple Store and they replaced the battery at no charge. Soon after they started recalling the batteries. The replacement battery has failed, so I got a replacement for that one. Now I have another problem with my battery or laptop, the battery only lasts about an hour and a half. Some other issues are that the laptop runs hot and at times is noisy. I also had to replace the power cord, because the wires became exposed at the end.
Great promise but some annoying kinks remain by jbb132 ,Apr 06 '06
Pros: Dazzling screen, great keyboard, thoughtful features and fast Cons: It whines
The MacBook Pro is a fabulous product in every way but one it's noisy. My first MacBook Pro had a slight whine not unbearable but annoying nonetheless and a faulty keyboard. The replacement model (which had supposedly resolved many first generation problems) also had a faint whine plugged in. Unplug the machine, though, and the whine becomes a continuous high-pitched, oscillating squeal. The only way to stop it is to turn the built-in isight camera on and leave it on, which hardly seems like a solution.
Apple says this sound is normal. If you work in a noisy environment you probably won't even hear it. In a library or a quiet room, though, you and the people near you almost certainly will. Unless you really need a MacBook Pro (or listen to your iPod at all times), wait till Apple works this one out before buying.
