Pros: Brick-like case, too many delightful touches to name, performance Cons: Expensive, no matte screen option
This is my second review of Apple's new unibody MacBook Pro, the first one following limited use at the Apple Store and using the higher-end model with 512MB VRAM and the 2.53GHz processor. I did not buy that machine, and chose instead the ...

Pros: Lots of USB ports, magnetic power connector, large touchpad, Apple remote Cons: Runs hot, case scratches easily, wireless range is limited
I bought Apple's 15.4-inch 2.4GHz MacBook Pro last year. While I have been using Macs at work for years, the MacBook is my first Apple personal computer. I was reluctant to let go of everything PC, so I purchased a model that had Paralells Desktop 4.0 ...

The best bang for your buck
by suggestipinion ,Dec 12 '08
Pros: Does everything I need it to do (all at once), and it's gorgeous. Cons: All initial problems have been fixed by Apple.
I started at one of the Macintosh Classic in the early 90's, moved to the iMac DV in the late 90's, and eventually went mobile with an iBook G4. After a while, my need for something newer, and faster with more capabilities arose. That is where the iBook aluminum comes in.
This laptop was midrange price as far as Apple laptops go. I purchased the 2.4GHZ model for $1,600. It was worth every penny.
The initial problem I had when purchasing the laptop was that the trackpad was glitchy. It was freeze at points (not work at all) or dart around when I tried to use it. Apple sent out a software fix for this and I've had no problems since.
The second problem I had was that it was not going to sleep correctly when closed. It would continue to try to 'awake itself' while closed. This heated up the computer, wasted battery, and made my laptop very angry.
Again, Apple put out a software fix and I've had no additional problems.
It works seemlessly, it's gorgeous, and if you're in the market for a new laptop I would highly recommend this one.

Hard drive broke after a year
by isistela ,May 31 '09
Pros: Laptop fixed within a day at the apple store! Cons: Hard drive died after a year.
The hard drive broke after a year. Buy the apple care extended warranty & back up your files regularly.
I had backed up my data the day before the hard drive died (lucky) but restoring the backup from the time machine was not that easy because it requires the leapard cds and I couldn't find mine. So I had to do it manually, which took quite a bit of time. Now iTunes won't burn songs that I bought on iTunes because it says my computer isn't authorized, and some of the program incons look like folders. So I need to go back to the apple store.
