Pros: Great views of sea life on a Hawaiian reef. Cons: A little pricey. Boat to/from sub not good for seasickness.
My first Atlantis Submarine ride was on my grandmother’s 70th birthday in 1998. My mother, brother, and uncle got terribly sea sick on the ride to and from the submarine, though they felt fine on the actual submarine ride. The sub itself is very ...
Pros: I got to go in a submarine without having to join the navy. Cons: No coral gardens.
When researching for our trip to Honolulu I was always on the net checking websites for things to do while there, one thing that always caught my eye was the Atlantis Submarine tour.
I was attracted to this by the colorful pictures...
I REALLY wanted this to be a great adventure by mpbrady ,Nov 13 '09
Pros: Nice photoop of shoreline from the transport boat. Fun to see a submarine dive. Cons: Not nearly as cool as you would reasonably hope.
I took the Atlantis submarine on the recommendation of a friend and was really excited - it's not every day (any day) that I get to go on a submarine. Sounded very exciting. The reviews were mixed but mostly good. They discussed witty tour guide. In reality I could not understand a word that they said over the intercom. There were hardly any sizeable fish. No real colors down there. The wrecks were weak. I would recommend (1) take a boat ride to get that experience and (2) go to an aquarium and see a lots of seafood, er I mean marine life.
A not-to-be-missed adventure! by jwpearce ,Jun 15 '04
Pros: An awesome experience; see sights at the bottom of the ocean! Cons: Pricey, but get a 2-for-1 coupon to ease the sticker shock!
My husband and I took a ride on the Atlantis Submarine in Oahu (Honolulu) in early June of 2004. It was a great adventure. You ride on a boat out into the deeper part of the ocean, where you transfer to a submarine. The seating in the sub is set up so that everyone has a window. You get a great show of sea life. We saw sting rays, a shark, sea turtles, and a fabulous array of tropical fish.
This is no cheap adventure. But to ease the pain, buy an Entertainment book. There is a 2 for 1 coupon which makes it much more bearable!
