Pros: love the sound, exchangeable earpads Cons: totally incompetent headband design, loose cable connection

Great for DJing, not for the home studio
by elefader ,Jan 02 '07
Pros: Solid construction, swivel/folding earcups, strong output Cons: Very little comfort, gets better with use
got these as a Xmas gift this year .... overall, I'm impressed with the build and construction of these headphones. They have comparable output to Pioneer HDJ 1000s or Technics RP-DH 1200s. Despite what Audio Technica claims on their website, these headphones are not suitable for long listening sessions -- I found them to be much too tight on my ears, and hurt after about 30 seconds. Audio-Technica ATH-PRO700 SV Professional Headphones

Pros: Sound Quality and Output volume. Low end punch Cons: Build quality. Very expensive
Sadly, Audio-Technica decided to imitate and not innovate. The cans are clearly modeled after Sony's popular MDRV-700 DJ series right down to the black headrest with silver logo, and earpiece swivel design - albeit reversed. To make matters worse, the company unfortunately didn't address any of the Sony's well-known problems. In fact, we wonder if Audio-Technica solicited the input of DJs at all in their research and development , or simply decided to knock off the Sony's and just add their own magnet and driver technology.
