Pros: Neutralizes brassy blonde tones, brightens grey hairs too! Cons: Could be more moisturizing
When I first started “lightening” my hair, my hairdresser recommended Aveda’s Blue Malva Shampoo. The shampoo is literally blue and it helps to tone down brassy tones as well as brighten grey hair. Blue Malva is designed for normal hair ...
Pros: Very gentle and nourishing, leaving your hair soft and silky and enhancing its natural color Cons: Some consider it to be expensive.
I am the biggest fan of all Aveda's products, particularly their range of shampoos and conditioners. They are all completely plant essence based, (promoting the art and science of pure flower and plant essences), and contain no petro-chemical...
Pros: Organic, effective, biogegradable packaging. Cons: Pricey. May be hard to find in provincial areas.

Pros: Very softening, makes hair shiny too :) Cons: I haven't yet noticed brightening effects
I purchased Aveda's Blue Malva Shampoo and Conditioner about a couple of days after using John Frieda's Sheer Blonde which dried out my hair a little. I have not bought many products from Aveda in the past due to the slightly expensive price tags ...
Pros: Reduces brassy tones in color treated hair. Cons: Price?
I’ve been using Aveda Blue Malva shampoo for 6 years. My hair is dishwater blonde and I have it highlighted. In addition it is fine and thick. I’ve used this shampoo when my hair was all one length long to middle of my back, and when it was shorter and ...
Pros: Keeps away those dreaded brassies. Leaves your hair shiny and soft. Cons: A bit pricey. A bit heavy.
I started using this shampoo on the advice of my hairdresser. I balked at the price at first but that soon changed since it's worth every penny. I have long hair and for most of the 30 years I've been a fake blonde it has been brassy. My hair has always ...
Pros: Great smell, gentle cleaning, botanicals a key ingredient, softens hair and makes it shinier. Cons: Does not noticeably reduce red-tones, pricey and hard to get in some places.
I have Asian black, straight, long (up to my knees) hair and Aveda black malva shampoo does not make it any darker. It does not reduce the red-tones by itself but when I used it with the Black Malva conditioner, it does reduce red tones (not by much ...
Pros: good results, fast Cons: Its little pricy but worth it.
I have very dark brown hair, and had colored it with a black cherry permanent color over the summer, I didn't know it would make my hair lighter, I was pretty disappointed and refused to color my hair again, but beach and sun had given me a slightly...
Pros: This shampoo helped take the brassy color out of my bleached hair. Smells good, energizing! Cons: Price.
This shampoo helped take the brassy color out of my bleached hair. It also energized my scalp and the scent wokr me up in the shower. I love it. It was recommended to me for my blond hair instead of the chamomile kind. My stylist said it would really...
A hairdresser used this shampoo on me at a salon and I just had to know what that amazing small was- like sweet flowers, but not in an overpowering Herbal Essences way. I bought a bottle straight away, despite the intimidating price (about 18 dollars...
Deep Cleansing Without Dryness! by shannennn ,Nov 11 '03
Pros: Adds a lot of shine, smell great but not too strong Cons: A little expensive.
My stylist at the Aveda concept salon I go to recommended this for my hair. She told me that it was a "deep cleansing shampoo." When I looked at the bottle I read that this was mainly for those with gray hair. I being a blonde without any sign of gray for at least 20 years hopefully was wondering why she would recommend the gray enhancing shampoo. Little did I know she knew what she was talking about.
When I first went home to try it I was surprised at the color that came out. It really was a dark blue shampoo coming out of the bottle. It lathered good and I rinsed.
When I started blow drying I noticed the sheen that was coming from my sometimes dull looking hair. This was actually shine instead of the normal dullness I get from deep cleansing shampoos. I now trust my stylist for anything she recommends no matter how not fitting it seems for my hair.
When you don't want to go for the gold by linmar1 ,Dec 29 '06
Pros: Great for all shades of highlighted hair. No drastic change. Cons: Sometimes hard to find
I bought this shampoo on the advice of my sister-in-law who absolutely hates any golden tones in her platinum hair. My hair is highlighted and has several shades of color ranging from mid brown to white blond with some golden and wheat tones included. What I don't like is when I am getting close to needing a touch-up my hair fades in general and the colors blend together and form a drab gold. I'm sure those that highlight and color their hair know what I am talking about. I have found Blue Malva shampoo slightly brightens my highlights and refreshes the color. This shampoo also softens the hair so I wind up using less conditioner and sometimes none at all.

Pros: Helps eliminate brassy hair colour.
Smells great.
Product lasts a long time. Cons: Not cheap... but worth it.
What a great fragrant and inexpensive way to prolong the life of your hair colour. The product is not cheap, but in terms of going to a salon to refresh your colour, it it worth every penny. It does help to extend salon visits. It softens out the brassy tones we all hate.
It also makes your hair smell wonderful.
Pros: I only use half the amount of AVEDA shampoo as i do with other brands. Cons: the blue color stained my bathtub
this shampoo leaves hair so clean and shiny i only have to wash my hair once every 3 days instead of every other day. I would recommend this shampoo to anyone who has highlights and who's hair gets dried out by the chemicals used in coloring. Pair it with the matching conditioner for amazing results. It's worth the price!
Try this, you won't look back! by gigglehappy ,Apr 26 '06
Pros: Lovely smell, little goes a long way so not as expensive as you may think Cons: none
I couldn't live without Aveda Blue Malva Shampoo! I have very light highlighted hair and this is the only shampoo I would ever use. This product counteracts the brassy tones & leaves my hair with gorgeous glossy platinum blonde shades. I use this in conjunction with John Freda Platinum Blonde conditioner and i always get compliments on how shiny & healthy my hair looks which is hard to achieve with colour treated hair. All my friends have been converted to Aveda Blue Malva & it is great with sensitive skins and scalps.
