Pros: Quiet, nice ride, great grip, confidence-inspiring communication and relatively inexpensive Cons: Mediocre wet performance
Avon is a British tire (tyre?) manufacturer that specializes in motorcycle tires. They recently unveiled a new line of performance-oriented automobile tires, the Tech M500 and all-season Tech M550AS. Though they may be unfamiliar to many auto ...

Pros: Very good handling
Excellent wear for a performance tire
Smooth and quiet Cons: Sidewall protection is inadequate
Performance is in the eye of the driver. These tires (All Season Tech M550) are designed to replace stock HP or other high priced performance tires. At the time I only found these tires at www.tirerack.com More about that later. I have an Infiniti G35 ...

Pros: Great handling, ride, traction, and price. Cons: Moderately poor treadlife.
In August 2004, I purchased my first brand-new car ever, a 2005 Scion tC. Although I was -- and continue to be -- thrilled with the car itself, one thing that I could never quite appreciate was the poor quality of the Bridgestone Potenza RE92 tires that ...

Good performance, but kicks out at 19K
by ebleenies ,May 10 '06
Pros: Good handling, quiet, good tracking on freeways with grooves. Cons: Short life, falls apart quickly when worn out, uneven wear pattern. Hydroplaning in rain puddles.
Good performance in all conditions, quiet, but falls apart at 19K with average use. Put them on a 2001 Protege (2600 lbs) , hardly a race car, and used in a sedate to mildly spirited driving style.
Towards the end of life, they developed an odd "S" wear pattern: light toward the inside, heaviest in the middle, and heavy on the outside on all four tires. Alignment was checked & found OK. Oddly enough, the ones on the right side (driving wheel?) wore out quicker. After that it was like riding on balloons.
They don't represent a bargain, it's a pay-as-you-go tire. Got 40000 out of Pirelli P7's on this car, 40000 out of Potenzas...but half that on these. Will try some Falkens next time.
It's hard today to get a true bargain in a tire; you usually get what you pay for.

Avon M500 tires - junk!
by cpj002 ,Jun 14 '08
Pros: Cheap Cons: Rapid wear and noisy.
The worst tires I have ever bought for my Corrado SLC 1992. They are worn out at 14,000 miles, and became noisy in under 10,000 miles. They have developed a pronounced dish wear (thinnest tread on the middle) even though tire pressures were correct. The car is used for an 80 mile round trip commute, with very little stop and start work.
Compare this with the 30,000 miles I got out of the original Dunlop SP2000's.
