Pros: Low price, sturdy construction, features, good detection, voice prompts Cons: Gets hot, display gets dim/turns off when hot, I should have used it
I bought the Beltronics Vector (BEL) 940 about 2 years ago to replace an old, beat-up Cobra, and now I have a brand new speeding ticket. But the ticket is not the BEL's fault, but mine. You see, this is my second speeding ticket in the 14 years of ...
Pros: PRICE, Performance, Red text display Cons: None at such a low price!
The Bel Vector 940 is the lowest end Vector model offered by Beltronics. The Vectors are very notable for their high performance at an extremely low price. They all have the same performance factors, and are differentiated by their features. This ...
Pros: Sensitve but you can tone it down where need be. Upgradeable Cons: Some may consider it expensive but 1 less ticket pays for the 940
Over the years I have had radar detectors by whistler, Uniden and Cobra. The Beltronics 940 surpasses all previous detectors. I have gotten fewer false signals, greater range and earlier warnings with the 940. The Beltronics 940 is what I ...
Pros: performance, price, features Cons: BEL's quality is still below expectations (Added 1/17/04), lighting, questionable build quality
I have often philosophized that there are some things in life for which you should pay a minimum price: adjustable wrenches, wall paint, lobster, and radar detectors. Since you're here, I'll assume it's the radar detector you want to read about. The ...
Pros: I would give it 5 stars for 'value'. Cons: No auto-power switch, no 10 foot straight cord.
The wife got a ticket in April. I haven't had a ticket in years. They're putting in red light cameras and this motivated me to do some research. In an effort to raise additional money, many municipalities are reverting to 'other forms of tax'. I ...
Pros: Best detector for the price, great brand name, heavy which sometimes indicates quality Cons: cheap plastic clip, difficult to view from angle, not loud enough, strange radar error
First day First Impressions: --Man is this thing is HEAVY! The cheaper radar detectors I've had in the past didn't weigh anything near this. Didn't weigh it so I don't know for sure the weight, but it's quite noticeable. Least I know ...
Pros: sensitive, small and compact Cons: not suitable for motorcycle use
I bought the Beltronics Vector 940 mail order for $150 and had
hoped it will save me from another radar speeding ticket. The
route I take to work has really low speed limits and are posted
for radar enforcement. My primary vehicle is a BMW...
Pros: Very high level of performance for the dollar spent. Great build quality (so far).
Cons: Doesn't come with a straight cord, and the coiled cord isn't all that long.
First impression right out of the box: wow-this thing is heavy! Of course weight doesn't mean quality, but the external build quality and weight of the 940 makes my two Cobra detectors seem like toys. Since I've had this detector, my impression is that ...
Pros: Good sensitivity, memory retention, good display Cons: Not inexpensive, bulky mount, gets very got after long continuous use.
I did a lot of research on radar detectors before purchasing mine. I came to the conclusion that the Valentine 1 is the best, but at around $500 it was way out of my price range, and I think its ugly. I also found out that the Bel brand of radar...
Pros: Compact, voice alert, autoscan, range, 180 degree detection, ease of use. Cons: Power cord located in an odd place on left side of detector.
This radar detector exceeded all expectations. The sensitivity is outstanding while filtering out false alerts. On a recent trip this detector saved me on two separate occasions. On a long straightaway in the valley it detected a highway patrolman...
This is my second Beltronics radar detector and I'm not disappointed by i-tatu-u ,Feb 17 '04
Pros: good range, easy to use, useful features Cons: none that I have found
I was going to buy a $75. special(I don't recall the brand name now) from a mail order catalog I get, but decided to do some research to see if my money couldn't be a little better spent. As usual the research payed off. I drive about 22,000 miles a year and consider a radar detector a must(I have not had a ticket in 6 or 7 years). The unit seems very well made and has all the needed features including mute and the ability to invert the display so the detector can be mounted upside down.I could have spent a lot more but would only be buying more features I don't need. On the road the unit worked very good giving me ample warning, also telling me what band of radar was approaching from both front and rear and of course it had no problem with stationary radar. I have not had a chance to test it on laser yet.
Pros: Works great, detects great, saves me all the time. It talks! Cons: Display hard to see in direct sun. Can't reprogram voice to "watch out for pig!"
The vector 940 has saved me so many times I don't know how I drove without it. (Actually I just drove slower.) I only use modes Highway and Autoscan (when I'm in town) and that covers all my bases. Had it for about 6 months now and I can say it has saved me at LEAST 5-6 tickets. Each time I picked up the "bogey" well before I was able to see him, sometimes around corners or over hills.
One thing I discoverd in my area,(N. Cali) is that the Sheriffs don't even carry radar with them, although I suppose if you blew by one doing 50 in a 25 he would probably notice and still give you a ticket.
This is the best $150 i've spent for my car, couldn't have asked for more.
I have had this under a year and it is honestly a piece of crap. Never buy this product it goes off when the blues are literally on you and then your screwed. DO NOT BUY IT. I have had 2 tickets and it went off after the cops lights were already on me. 500$ in tickets later i switched to an ESCORT PASSPORT 8500--> very nice
After doing hours of research... by ceegee_dt3000 ,Dec 07 '02
After doing hours of research I chose the BEL Vector 940 for two reasons. Perfomance and price. The BEL v940 gives me about 80-90% of the performance of the Valentine One at about half the cost. The Valentine is sinply too high. You pay 200% more for 10-20% increase in performance.
Personally I've had very few falses with it and accurate police radar detection especially on K and Ka bands. Just yesterday I met a cop on the highway. I was going over a steep hill and around a turn. Picked him up about 9 tenths of a mile away on K band.
