Does a Good Job For the Money; Software Updates are a Must

by af40 , Mar 11 '08
Pros: Decent printing, faxing, scanning. Software (after upgrades) is very good.
Cons: Uses a lot of ink for "self cleaning"; when low on ink, useless.
I have had a few problems with the Brother MFC ("Multi-Function Center") 240C, which is surprising considering that my 10 year old Brother (big "B" here) fax machine never has had any problems. I'll go into the details in a jiff, but the bottom line here ...

just okay, nothing special

by keybowvio01 , Feb 16 '08
Pros: -compact design -ease of use -networking abilities
Cons: -print quality for photos is subpar -document feeder has small capacity -phot tray is inconvenient
I got this printer for what I perceived to be a great price and an overall great value. Prior to this printer, I was using the free one that came with my computer. Boy is this a step up! However, this printer introduces many nice features, but does ...

An acceptable compromise

by roon123 , Oct 12 '06
Pros: Reasonable quality, Good price, Low cost maintenance, Compact, Many features, Generally Fast, Performs Well
Cons: Small Screen, On/Off Button Acts Strange, Just for light works, Bad conception of paper tray
We bought this multifunction some weeks ago to replace a printer HP 940c and, possibly, an old Officejet 635. We use it at home. We looked for a machine which would allow us to combine office's and family's necessities: - Print photos directly from a ...

Good Multifunction Printer!

by parrot0123 , Sep 23 '06
Pros: - Saves space over separate Printer, Scanner, etc... - Fast, Performs Well - Call Display
Cons: - USB Plug is a Hassle - Small Screen - On/Off Button Acts Strange
I've had this multifunction center for about a week now. I've put it through it's paces and am pleased to announce that it performs quite well. I like that it has the option of using ADF and Flatbed capabilities for scanning. I also like that it ...

Brother MFC-240C 6 in 1 printer

by stat_emt , Jan 24 '07
Pros: Fast printing, great quality, user friendly, very economical, compact design, many functions, a great machine!
Cons: On/Off button only works when it wants to.
I bought this printer after having to trash two HP printers that died shortly after purchase. I chose this printer for one because it was the only one available that wasn't HP, and it had an awesome rebate (I paid $69.99 for it after the rebate) in ...

Not for home office use

by tcriss , Jul 04 '08
Pros: Lots of features.
Cons: Constantly needs ink. Can't print black and white without having colour ink as well.
I had this printer purchased for me, for office work I do at home. Boy am I glad I didn't have to shell out the big bucks for this one, although, sadly, I do have to shell out the big bucks to keep it running. It requires the gross domestic product of a ...

Have Extra Cartridges At The Ready Or This Machine Won't Work!

by justdfax , Feb 08 '08
Pros: An otherwise reliable, competent home office machine.
Cons: Machine is disabled after a pre-determined amount of print jobs.
The Brother MFC 240C received reasonable reviews from epinions and given it’s price point (and the death of my rave reviewed Canon Multipass MP390 which I need to revise) I had to get a new machine in short order. I got stung years ago and learned an ...

I will never need another all in one machine.

by bettyboopscafe , Mar 09 '07
Pros: Easy to use, every function possible.
Cons: None.
How relieved am I to have finally found the all in one printer of my dreams! The Brother MFC-240 is exactly what I wanted. It faxes, copies, prints and scans. My last printer was a Hewett Packard, and although it worked I wanted to upgrade to ...

Cheap ink pig

by danshea , Jul 20 '07
Pros: Cheap, good print quality, scans nice images. Very functional.
Cons: Flimsy construction, poor fit, goes through ink a hot knife through butter.
You get what you pay for: yet another virtually disposable printer/scanner/copier/fax. Printing: it goes through cartridges pretty quick. For me, black lasted about 150 pages, colour lasted about 200. I've re-filled the cartridges twice so far, at ...

Cheap but good

by samlokto , Jul 28 '07
Pros: Cheap, perform functions well, good print quality
Cons: Consumes ink without printer, dull color printing, slow printing, trouble setting configuration.
This printer does a good job in printing, scanning/copying and faxing. Unlike the other reviewer, I don't have any problem on paper feeding. B/W printing quality is good but color printing seems a bit dull. Printing speed is good but the printer ...

A Cheap Gimmick To Sell Brother Ink

by sasfouri , Aug 18 '07
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Cheap
This printer is too expensive even if Brother gives it for free. I bought this printer a couple of months ago for home use where I need to use it lightly. I do not use it for colored printing and have only printed a few pages in black since I bought it. ...

$$ absolutely wasted!

by cloudstreaker , Mar 04 '08
Pros: The all-in-one feature. Photo printing decent.
Cons: 99% of it. Paper dock, scanner size, color duplication, ink glutton.
My mom bought this product for it's cheap price (she thought "how bad can it be?" Our old HP Inkjet had lasted 7 years and we had to replace it only because someone dropped it. So we needed a printer and my mom rush bought it (always a mistake and I told ...

So far so good

by drdosik , Feb 19 '08
Pros: Great print quality, excellent price point
Cons: None yet
We just purchased this printer yesterday at Office Max for the rock bottom price of $59.99 after a $40 mail-in rebate. I have to admit we had some trepidation after reading these mixed reviews but figured we would have 2 weeks to change our minds should ...

Worst $ that I have ever spent!

by flstckt , Aug 12 '07
Pros: Features. Price.
Cons: Expensive Ink. Chews through paper. Poor color duplication. Slow processes.
I bought this combo machine after research and reading reviews based on it's features & of course, price. From the very first day it ripped through paper, and even after I changed to different paper weights, it still did it. The cartridges need ...

Not bad for an all-in-one

by shady_lady , Feb 05 '08
Pros: smaller size, cost
Cons: small paper tray
I was looking for a fax machine but also wanted a flatbed copier so I wouldn't have to run to Kinkos all the time with rebates and financial papers that I needed copies of. Enter the world of MFCs, and you are up to your ears in so many options. I did ...
