Pros: Keeps baby safe, sturdy, easy to clean, safe for your back Cons: nothing
Intro: My husband and I bought this carrier for our son within the first month that he was born (June 06'). We decided we needed to have a carrier that would enable us to be hands free but still be able to carry our son and keep us close to him. We ...
Pros: Fit and finish, Ergonomics, Comfort, Weight Distribution, Flexibility of Uses, Infants Love It Cons: Difficult to use at extremes of infancy, provides no protection from weather elements, expensive.
How would you like to raise a mess o' babies while still remaining as active as possible? For those without kids, the paramount lesson I have to teach you is that parenthood will provide a huge change unlike any other. For the first time in your life, ...
Pros: Comfortable and adjustable, easy to clean. Cons: A bit pricey but worth every cent.
Most mothers only have two hands...most mothers need at least three, preferably four.
The Baby Bjorn Carrier provides mothers with a way to hold their babies close to their bodies, safely, and still have the freedom to use both of their hands...
Pros: Keeps baby close, comfortable to wear, can put baby down without waking him/her, Stylish Cons: Difficult (but not impossible) to breastfeed, expensive (but worth it)
When I gave birth to my second child in April, it became glaringly apparent that I was going to need ...
Pros: Goodness, many more than 15... Simple to use/wear/assemble/adjust, anyone can wear it, COMFORTABLE Cons: Is pricey (around $80), but is ABSOLUTELY WORTH EVERY PENNY
New motherhood has brought many insights -- one of which is the fact that even though something LOOKS good on paper, doesn't mean it actually IS good. Before Aidan was born I did some research and decided on the New Native Baby Sling (review to ...
Pros: Very secure, better than cheap ones, cool Scandinavian design Cons: Confining, ubiquitous, very uncomfortable once baby gets heavy
I received the Bjorn as a gift from another mom while I was pregnant. She raved about her experience with it, so I was excited to use it when my baby was born. Her favorite features were how easy it is to strap on and off and how much more comfortable it ...
Pros: Carry baby, prepare dinner because your hands are free! Cons: Pricey, straps can confuse.
I have a son, born in 1997, and a daughter, born in 2002. I bought the Baby Bjorn for both children. I loved it the first time, love it the second time.
I used it with my older son until he was about 18 months old. I used it at the...
Pros: Durable. Keeps baby attached to you safely and with proper support. Cons: Hot. Causes Back Aches. Short time to use it.
After I had my first son, my sister passed her gently loved Baby Bjorn to me. To use this item, a baby must be at least 8 pounds and 21" long. And no more than 25 pounds. Let's Start with Personal Experience My son was a hefty 8 pounds, 11 ...
Pros: Aesthetically pleasing; very secure clipping hardware Cons: Shoulder/back/neck pain, hard to put baby in/out, fixed carrying position, limits use of hands

Pros: easy to put on or off, my baby loves it!! Cons: expensive.
I Love my Baby Bjorn-don't know how we'd live without it...here are the reasons why: The best thing about the Bjorn is that it fastens on both sides, so it is easy to get Zoë into or out of when she is asleep or awake. This is ...
Pros: Hands free safe carrying of baby, face in/out, adjustable Cons: Not cheap
We use the baby bjorn both inside the home and when we go out as a hands free method of safely carrying our baby. Since birth (our daughter is 8 months now), it has enabled us to do things none of our other baby gear has done. This carrier allows you ...
Pros: My son loves it; great quality product Cons: Neck pain
THE LOW-DOWN:
Overall, this is a good carrier. I have been using it with my son since he hit 8 lbs. (about 2 weeks old) and he has loved it since day one. Whenever he is fussy, I can put him in the Baby Bjorn and he calms right down and...
Pros: one of those baby gears good to have around Cons: small arm holes, not an all-season product
Product description: The baby bjorn boast of two things: being the easiest baby carrier to get a baby into single handedly and having the best back support for the baby. This original design has two parts: (1) the straps with the back crossing ...
Pros: Convenience, ease of assembly, good instructions, comfortable, comforted my fussy baby. Cons: Who's going to carry me around?... I'm envious...
Our baby is a fussy one. She doesn't like being in a horizontal position. She likes being upright. She likes contact with mommy and daddy. She never liked the sling we bought. So I tried the Bjorn baby carrier. At 80 bucks, it better be worth it. ...
Pros: Easy to use, quality, modern in design & apperance, comfortable Cons: doesn't fit the max weight it recommends, very expensive

Pros: Easy to use, great for comfort, great for closeness and bonding, and very high quality. Cons: One day the babies just outgrow it, and you have to pack it away.
The original Baby Bjorn carrier has been one of my favorite baby purchases to this date. I bought this carrier more than 7 years ago, and although it has been used by 3 mothers and five kids, it is hardly noticeable. When I first got this carrier, I ...
Pros: Easy to adjust, baby loves it, safer than other carriers Cons: Pricey, hard to fold for storage
I highly recommend this product for young babies. I have tried several other carriers, and I feel like my son is more secure in this one and less likely to slip or even fall out. When he's facing forward, I can squat down to pick something up without...
Pros: Easy to use, comfortable, soothes baby Cons: Not useful for baby over 17 lbs.
My husband and I didn't start using our Baby Bjorn regularly until our son was 2 months old. Between 2-6 months, we used this carrier every single day for several hours a day. It was great. Our son enjoyed being up high to see the world, he enjoyed ...
Pros: Comfortable, durable, sleek gender-neutral styling, well- designed, nicely padded, high quality. Cons: Complicated strap adjustments; requires specialized outerwear (although you won't have to buy a baby snowsuit!)
Okay. It's $120. It is, however, so worth it. As an initial matter, it's so well constructed that it will last through five kids. It is comfortable for the baby, and for the parent. We had the original Bjorn and I was starting to feel the pain of ...
Pros: Ease of use; comfort & security for baby; freedom for you. Cons: Can get HOT; may be too confining for older babies; price.

Pros: Durable, comfortable, easy to put on and reduces stress on neck and shoulders Cons: Expensive! (But worth it!)
With my first kiddo I had heard about Baby Bjorn, but the price just didn't work for me. I bought another one and it was awful. Just never seemed to fit right and was an ordeal to put on. SO, baby two, I splurged, and this was the BEST purchase. This ...
Pros: Tremendously convenient for carrying baby and maintaining close contact while out and about. Cons: Hard on caregiver's lower back; child will outgrow it by 6 months.
Baby Bjorn has become synonymous with baby-wearing, or carrying the baby on your person. We interchanged between a Baby Bjorn and a cloth wrap for our son, and it was clear that he definitely preferred the Bjorn. He could see better, move his hands and ...
Pros: Wonderful carrier - safe, secure, close, adjustable, comfortable for all sizes. Cons: Faded when washed.
My only regret about the Babybjorn is that I did not get one sooner. I have four children, and with my first and second child, I used a really ill-fitting and uncomfortable Snugli brand holder. I very rarely used it because it never fit well and was hard ...
Pros: Easy to use, good quality, very secure, great accessories Cons: Heavier babies may put pressure on shoulders
We were given a Snugli when our daughter was born. I attempted to use it a few times to get housework done when she was about a month old and I found it incredibly difficult to get her in and out of it, especially if she was sleeping. As well, she did ...
Pros: Convenient side openings, can wear facing in or facing out Cons: Somewhat uncomfortable. Expensive!
We were given this carrier in "City Black". I was thrilled, as I don't think I would have spent this much money on a carrier myself and thought that the Baby Bjorn carrier was a high end brand. While it is convenient for walks with a zig-zaging dog or ...
Pros: Extremely user-friendly, easy to commit to attachment parenting tactics Cons: Doesn't really "grow with baby" but is too small by about 8 months.
I have used the Baby Bjorn carrier for both my first and second children. I plan to do so with my third, due in May, as well. I found the carrier to be very easy to use. The adjustments are a little cumbersome at first, but once you get the hang ...
Pros: Fun for baby, available at most retail stores. Cons: Expensive, front padding might chafe little infants.
I put this on my registry since it was one of the top sellers at Babies R Us and at Target. I was torn between this 80 dollar Babybjorn and this 40 dollar other brand, but I went with the Babybjorn hoping someone would get it for us. I first tried ...
Pros: None. Cons: Using the is product caused me significant back pain.
I bought this product when my son was born as I had heard that the Bjorn was the only choice in soft baby carriers. I did think that the product was fairly easy to use and adjust. I used it walking around the house and doing housework. I even used ...
Pros: Very well made carrier that's great for carrying around small babies and keeping hands free Cons: A little tricky to put on and hard on the back when carrying heavier babies
The Baby Bjorn is a great carrier and very well made. I purchased one when my second child was born. I purchased it from Ebay because I wasn't sure if he was going to like it or not. I had tried using a carrier when my daughter was a baby and she ...

Pros: Quality, stylish, comfortable. Bjorn brand name. Cons: Expensive, difficult to put on.
We purchased this Bjorn carrier after having our fourth child, after reading recommendations in parenting magazines. It was expensive, and a bit of an investment, but one that I was willing to make. It is a very high quality baby carrier, with well made ...
Pros: Comfortable, cute, doesn't look "babyish" Cons: Took me a minute to figure out instructions/diagrams
Our daughter loves the baby bjorn! We cart her around in Costco, walk into town, even just walk around the house to give her a "birds eye view" of stuff.
She seems comfortable, the carrier itself is comfortable to wear, and best of all, it...
Pros: Secure fit, adjustable, comfortable to wear, durable Cons: Hurts shoulders when baby reaches 15 lbs., older baby "dangles" on front of you

Pros: Easy to use, easy to use, supports baby's head well Cons: Expensive, can only be used for a limited time, hard on caregivers back

Pros: Easy to use, comfortable for both carrier and baby Cons: Will hurt your back the first time you use it
I used my Baby Bjorn religiously for the first four months of my daughter's life. She loved the coziness, I loved the convenience. Plus, I heard that lugging that extra weight around would help burn extra calories. I had my baby in September, and...
Pros: Rolls up well for storage! Cons: Doesn't distribute baby's weight very effectively- hard on the back
I received this carrier as a gift at my baby shower and was very eager to give it a try. I had heard of the bjorn and wanted to see what everyone seemed to love so much! When I first gave it a try it wasn't too hard to put on. It seemed fairly ...
Pros: Safe place for baby. Very soft, great padding makes it easy on the shoulders. Cons: Hard to figure out how to put it on at first.
My baby was colicky, and wanted to be held all the time. I wasn't getting anything done until I got the baby carrier. With the baby in the carrier, I could do almost anything. Baby was happy, I could see him, and I could get things done. It's hard to see...
Pros: It gives the baby the comfort of being snuggled or the freedom of looking around. Cons: It can be kind of spendy but look around, and the black sells out fast!

Pros: durable, baby loves it! Cons: took a little time for baby to get used to it

Pros: Baby stays occupied, comfortable, washes up nicely Cons: Can get heavy after worn for a long time

This carrier is very well made, as it should be for how much it costs. If you plan on wearing your baby a lot, I would highly suggest this brand and model. However, if you are looking for a baby carrier to simply have as an option when going out, I think ...
I've always been happy with Bjorn products I bought, and the Bjorn Carrier is no different!
It's the third or fourth soft carrier I've tried, but by far the best.
The simplicity is the big feature. There isn't a lot of buckles, snaps or nonsense to fuss with. The latches you do use are color-coded for ease of use.
It's easy to adjust as well, and even on a small woman such as myself, it worked out well without feeling like it's out of place or pulling down too much on my front.
If you need to clean it, it comes apart easily to throw in the washer.
The baby can face either way, which is also a really neat feature.
Pros: My husband likes it Cons: Uncomfortable
Bad for baby's spine
Expensive
I hated this carrier. I am large breasted and it was so uncomfortable on my shoulders, neck and back that I can't stand to use it. I couldn't use it for breastfeeding and don't see how anyone could! And research has recently come out saying that because this type of carrier holds baby up by the crotch instead of keeping them in a seated position, it is bad for the development of their spine as you can see http://www.gatago.com/misc/kids/3930671.html. I would advise a sling carrier instead as they are more comfortable for baby and parent, and make breastfeeding in the sling simple. Plus, they're cheaper!
Pros: comfortable, great when infants are tiny Cons: Won't adjust, so babies outgrow quickly
This carrier is easy to use and comfortable -- but if chubby babies run in your family, get something else. There are no adjustments for width as the baby grows. Both of my children (who are now average builds, but were quite chubby as babies) outgrew this carrier before 4 months simply because it would no longer fit around their tummies. Don't waste your money -- find something that will grow with your baby.
We love love love our Bjorn!! by shoutycrackers ,Jul 28 '04
Pros: baby is so happy in it, easy to wash/adjust/use, lightweight Cons: expensive, but worth every penny and more
My 8 month old baby is happiest when she is in her Bjorn--my husband and/or I use it every day. It's easier to get around with her in the Bjorn than with a stroller and she loves being close to me. She's usually asleep in it within 20 minutes. My babysitter even wears it when my daughter is fussy!! It took a couple of weeks for her to get used to it, but now she smiles with anticipation when she sees me putting it on. WE LOVE OUR BJORN!!!
Better than other carriers by rvtprincess ,Feb 14 '07
Pros: Stylish, easy to use, comfortable for baby Cons: Hurts my shoulders w/ prolonged use, expensive
Maybe it's just me, but I find all baby carriers uncomfortable after about 30 minutes of wearing, even when carrying a small baby. I've tried a lot of them (friends loaning them to me, gifts, etc) and I will say this is the nicest looking and easiest to use. My shoulders ache after using it though. The armholes are kind of small but you don't want them slipping their arms out of it either. Try buying this used so you don't spend a fortune (that's what I did).
This makes being a parent 100 times easier. by allen8633 ,Jun 23 '04
Pros: Best carrier hands down. Light weight. Easy to use Cons: very expensive. Limited colors.
I can not tell you how great this thing is. It supports the baby so well that you almost can not tell that you have him strapped to you at all. Easy to put on and take off. This is the best product we own for us and our child hands down. There is nothing I would change in the construction. It is very light weight.
Pros: Easy to use, comfortable for baby and parent Cons: It's uncomfortable to wear for too long after the baby weighs over 16lbs
My husband wanted this carrier because he liked the closeness this carrier would give him with our child. It turns out that we probably would not have made it through the first few months without this carrier. It seemed that when nothing else got our baby to stop crying, this did. Our baby loved it. As soon as we would strap him on and walked only a few steps out our door, he was asleep. In the first few months, it was this carrier that gave us the opportunity to communicate undisturbed during our walks. It brought back a sense of normalcy. Later on, when our son got a bit older, he loved watching the world from it. It was only because of this carrier that I ever got anything done the first few months. I highly recommend it!
This Carrier is Really Something by laetitia2003 ,Oct 22 '03
Pros: Quality, design, safety, it's is very easy to use Cons: Price, but it is worth it
We've started to use the Baby Bjorn Carrier when our Baby was 1 months old..I must say this thing is incredible. It's so easy to use, like I could put it on in 5 sec. With other carriers you have to deal with too many buttons..
Now our Baby is 7 months old, pretty heavy I must say..But he still adores this carrier..I can't put him in the stroller..but this thing he really loves.
Hard to Place Baby inside by fleming_email ,May 18 '05
Pros: Looks Nice Cons: Getting baby in/out NOT practical, Baby NOT comfortable
I was excited to use my new baby bjorn with my son. I didn't even buy a stroller thinking that I would be using the carrier. I quickly found out that the baby bjorn was not what I thought it would be. The worst part is getting him into and out of the carrier. It is difficult getting his leg and arm into the holes and trying to hold him while securing the other side. Once his is in, his head kept bopping around hitting my chest while forward facing. I didn't feel like I had use of my hands while in the carrier and still put my arms around him to feel more stable. My son felt confined in the carrier and only quieted down if I was constantly walking.
When I go to stores now, I just carry him in my arms because it seems like too much trouble to get him into and out of the carrier. I think I should have bought one of those travel systems with stroller. I would not recommend this product, and if you do get the carrier, save your receipt!
Pros: good qaulity, easy to use Cons: is not comfortable for large babies; expensive.
The product is a very good quality. However, if your baby is in 95th percentile (like mine) it is worthless! The baby simply does not fit or is very uncomfortable even on the largest setting.
Also, I was not comfortable to put my baby in it till he had a good head control (about 3 months of age). By that time he was almost 16 lb and putting him in the carrier was not comfortable for me or for him. I tried to carry him about ten minutes and my back started to hurt by the straps. So I would not recommend this product for large babies.
Pros: Simple design, close and comfortable, Cons: Worn on front only, impractical for extremely large folks, back hurt after an hour.
I absolutely loved my Baby Bjorn. My daughter is, unfortunately, outgrowing it at 5 months and I am having a hard time replacing it.
I loved the way she was snugged so close to me. She felt warm, and secure and I felt good knowing she was safe and knew she was loved. It is so much nicer than plopping her in the stroller.
You have the option of facing inwards or outwards, depending on age and ability. Even after my daughter could hold her own head up, I would face her inwards to snuggle her on shopping trips while she napped.
The straps are simple to figure out- not a lot of bells and whistles also, except for a small pouch in the front for your keys or whatnot. The entire design is, in fact, pretty simple. It's all soft material, toss it in the washer when it needs it... no plastic to crack, no leather to worry about. I am so sad we can't use this anymore!
Good up until about 15 pounds by laniesmom ,Feb 18 '07
Pros: Baby seems to like it. Good for carrying sleeping newborn.
Cons: Expensive. Unattractive. Absolute torture to wear after baby gets to be bigger.
My daughter was 7lbs 6oz when born and I just loved this thing. I quickly mastered getting it on and off, and she was happy to sleep in it while I did housework, or walked the dogs, or ran errands/shopped.
At about 15 pounds it was becoming more and more uncomfortable. My shoulders and neck were sore after 20 minutes or so. After 30 minutes my lower back was SCREAMING in pain and the Bjorn was just unbearable.
I am an average sized woman, I am in good shape, and I had it adjusted correctly so I cannot imagine anyone being able to carry anywhere near the weight limit comfortably.
This carrier is also very hard to adjust if 2 people are going to be using it. Hubby finally stopped using it because it was more of a pain to adjust than to just carry baby.
My daughter loved it though. Facing in when she was little she was snug (but hot in warm weather) and as she got older she was very happy facing out to look at the world.
I am now on a search for a more comfortable carrier for larger babies.
Works Great for Travel by luvmyfatmutt ,Feb 07 '04
Pros: Comfortable Cons: Cost, but it was worth it. I feel I got my money's worth.
I used this carrier with my small infant (1-3mo) when he had colic. We danced and walked around the house which seemed to help us both a little. It worked GREAT for travel (7mo)since we didn't need to drag a stroller around the airport. It is Very comfortable and I tried a few that were terrible. Also washes well.
This is great for moms and dads in big cities by lyn2680 ,Mar 19 '07
Pros: This product is easy to put on and take off. Cons: There are none!
Living in New York City and being an avid rider of the subway, I knew I would have to purchase an infant carrier for my first child. While reviewing the Baby Bjorn on the web, I realized it was the best carrier out there. It's so easy to get around without having to worry about lifting a heavy stroller. You can shop, eat and have a great stroll around the city with your baby. The Baby Bjorn is comfortable and secure, so there are no worries about trudging up subway stairs or waiting for elevators that don't work.
Pros: Good quality
Worth its price
Cons: There are cons???
I bought several cheap carriers and they all hurt my back. I did not by the baby bjorn off the bat cuz of the price. I figured they all had to be the same. So I bought one hated it and returned it bought another one same brand but better quality hated. Then I used a friends to test drive it and OH MY GOSH....I was in heaven. Its comfy did not put strain on my back. So the next day I bought one and now using it for baby #2 and LOVE it still.
Pros: Affordable, easy to use once you figure it out, can share with partner Cons: Initially tough to figure out (but I'm not great at that stuff)
This has been a great carrier for my little one. It's easy to adjust so my husband and I can share it. It was a little confusing to figure out how all the snaps worked at first, but once I figured it out, it's been perfect. My little one is six months now, and he loves riding in it facing out. He's always 'making friends' this way. If I don't want all the attention while we're in the store, I can always face him in too!
Pros: Comfortable for both mom and baby! Cons: Pricey (worth it), weight limit
I enjoyed this carrier for my summer baby.. it was much better than a stroller for places like the mall or a busy craft show! Once it was set up for our sizes, it slipped on easily and Sara was very comfortable and happy in it! Plus, it kept grabby strangers away from touching my baby! (which some do!)
Only gripe is the weight limit. Would have loved to use it longer.
This carrier is a definite life saver. I'm a single mom and not having an extra pair of hands to hold the baby can be frustrating. This carrier gives me those extra hands! I can get so much done, all while holding my baby. This way I don't feel like I'm neglecting him by getting things done. He loves it...I think he feels like he's floating (when facing out). You will love it too!!
The only thing I didn't like was the straps. The straps hanging out are annoying. I usually tuck them in, but having something built in to hold them in place would be nice.
Pros: baby loves it, practical and sturdy Cons: can hurt your back
This is ideal for urban dwellers. You can hop on and off the bus and walk around the neighborhood easily wearing your little one. Unlike a sling, I have no fear she'll fall out of the carrier.
My baby loves facing forward and being able to see the world.
My back tends to hurt on long trips. I might check out the Active Back Support Carrier next time around.
I loved this carrier with my children. They both (now 3 and 5) demanded to be carried all day as babies and this carrier allowed me to satisfy their needs while still having both my arms available to go about my business around the house. I also loved it when going places that were crowded to transport the little one. It was much easier to get through the crowd at the fair with the Baby Bjorn than running into people with a huge stroller.
Great carrier but only for a few months by mduguay ,Jul 21 '08
Pros: Easy to get in and out of and fits a verity of body types Cons: Lack of back support, straps dig when within a few pounds of the weight limit
The carrier is easy to use. My husband is 6'5" and I am 5'6" and we were both able to wear it easily. But before we hit the maximum weight limit it start to hurt our backs. I loved it, but he out grew it by 7 months old and was too small for it until he was almost 2 months. I am going to get an ergo instead.
I loved the baby bjorn until my son hit 16lbs by bizzymammabee ,Oct 19 '04
Pros: Extremely comfortable for an infant up until about five months or 16lbs, well made. Cons: Not as comfy for mommy or baby when the child hits about 16lbs, cost.
My son is currently 5 months old and weighs 16lbs and I have to say that using the baby bjorn is a bit uncomfortable now for both of us. I received this and another cheaper carrier for my shower. I definitely liked this as the better of the two even though the price tag was not all that nice. As the saying goes you do get what you paid for. It's a great carrier while your child is small in my opinion. I had no issues with it when my son was smaller. The construction is far superior to any others on the market. I never had any issues or complaints with the support that it provided to both myself and my dumpling. Now that he weighs that much to be honest it is getting a bit hard on my back and I noticed that it sort of affects the circulation in his legs. He still loves it as it allows him to be up and close and gives him a very nice view of the world so I had to find an alternative to this and have now moved on to the Over The Shoulder Baby Holder.
Pros: Comfortable, stylish and safe Cons: Expensive, straps can be hard to figure out at first
I loved my Baby Bjorn. We used it all the time when we went to the mall, walking around downtown, even at the grocery store. I always thought it was very comfortable for both me and Preston. I loved that when Preston was very small I could have him facing me in the carrier.
The only drawback I can see is that the straps can take a while to get used to - in how they attach to you and the carrier. Once you've got that down, the thing is great. It held up very well and will make it through two or three more kids.
Too pricey for what you get by the1amy ,Mar 17 '07
Pros: Easy to use Cons: expensive, can't use it for very long
I received the original Bjorn carrier while pregnant as a gift and was excited about using it. It was great to use when my son was an infant, but by the time he reached 15lbs, my back would ache after using it. It is perfect for when they are young and you want to take a walk or go shopping, but it doesn't seem to serve it's purpose as they get older and you still need free arms.
We bought this carrier for child number 3... Wish we would have known about Baby Bjorn a long time ago, then we could have used this carrier with all of our kids. This is the third baby carrier we have purchased, and Baby Bjorn is by far the best.
The carrier is surprisingly comfortable to wear - even when toting an 18 pound 4 month-old. The pack evenly distributes the weight of the baby to the shoulders and back, which is why the pack is so comfortable to wear. The material is soft and comfortable for the baby. Putting the carrier on is easy, and placing the baby in the carrier is even easier. The baby can face out or in, and either position seems to be comfortable for the baby.
With the two previously purchased carriers (evenflo and fisher price) after 10 minutes of toting a baby around the house, my lower back would be in pain. With the Baby Bjorn, I have taken several 2 mile walks with no problems at all.
Easy to use with small babes, hard on your back! by sshess ,Feb 23 '08
Pros: simple to use, safe for very small baby Cons: Ouch, my back hurt after a short period of time, even with my tiny baby.
I bought the basic city black Baby Bjorn when my son was about 6 weeks old and 8 lbs. I liked it because it was easy to clip up and put on by myself and it held the baby very snugly. However, I only used this carrier for about 2 months, and I could never wear it for more than an hour at most- it hurt my back. If I were to buy this product again, I would spend the extra money to get the extra lower back strap. I now use a Baby Trekker and find it is much easier on my back even though my baby weighs 20 lbs!
Our baby was just released from the Pediatric ICU after fracturing his skull when he pulled his legs up into the fetal position in his Bjorn, then toppled head first out of the leg hole. Apparently this accident was reported many times prior to 1999, when there was a recall due to the amount of head fractures. They added the two tiny (read almost hidden) straps for young infants. Most people don't know they're there. We did. We used them. But on that morning it seemed to be getting too tight, and so we assumed that meant he was beyond the danger zone. We were wrong.
Best way to keep baby with you and still use your hands by jenniferrsmith ,May 17 '08
Pros: Safe, secure way to carry your baby and maintain some freedom. Cons: none
I purchased this carrier when my now four year old daughter was a newborn. She loved it and we used it many many times with her. In fact I was able to enjoy walking around Boston and Plymouth Mass on vacation when she was 10 months old still using the front carrier. She was a big girl and she still felt safe and secure even at 19 lbs. Now I have a baby son and we are still using the same carrier. It is the only way I could get anything done. Being able to "carry" the baby and still have your hands and arms available to do things is priceless. It washes well and the fabric and all other parts are very well made and after two children show no signs of wear. I plan on passing this carrier along to another mom who will be able to get many years of use out of it.
Pros: Very simple, adjustable, easy to get baby in and out. Cons: No padding on shoulder strap, waist strap does nothing to ease weight off shoulders.
This is an awesome carrier....if your baby is 10 lbs or less. It's very simple to use, probably the easiest carrier on the market. Just hold baby, pull the frame up and click the clips in on either side. The clips are even colour coded for those groggy new parents.
It's not so good for the parents of larger and older babies. The shoulder straps aren't padded and dig in and the waist belt is laughable and does nothing to take the weight off your back. You carry it all off your neck. I couldn't stand carrying my son in it when he was even 13 or 14 lbs.
Great carrier if you like to rock your baby by slice79 ,May 26 '06
Pros: Babies love it! Cons: Bit expensive.
I love the baby bjorn. The great thing about it is the fact that you can carry your baby to do all your work. If your baby is used to being rocked like ours is, the bjorn works well because she likes the feeling of bouncing around and being held. My arms would get exhausted after only a couple of minutes, so the bjorn definitely acts as a great substitute. Also, it's really easy to put down a sleeping baby after she's fallen asleep in it. Other carriers don't seem to have that added benefit. All you have to do is unbuckle around her, lay her down then unsnap the bottom part. Definitely worth the money!
Pros: Easy to use, comfortable for baby and wearer. Cons: None that I can think of!
After my first baby in October 2005 there was an adjustment period as far as getting to know each other and my new routine. :)
I soon realized the bjorn didn't just have to be for walks. I vacuumed in it, cooked in it and always felt like she was protected in early days. 8 months later my daughter is still in it. She giggles when she sees me putting it on. She can face out or she can face in and sleep on the walk.
I live in a city where it is difficult to get around with a stroller. Without the bjorn I would be lost. I also get a workout with her extra weight on me as I walk around.
At first it seemed really confusing , but once you figure it out one time it is really simple. Especially helpful are the clips on either side of the top. The front pad is comfortable for baby and made of a soft foam. The straps cross in the back, are comfortable and supportive.
Great item for a city mom or a mom with a newborn and another child.
Wow, should have bought the cheaper version by simonsmommy ,Dec 05 '04
Pros: easy to adjust, fits many adults Cons: pricey and not practical for a long time
I did like my Baby Bjorn for the first three months of my son's life... However, once he hit the 16 pound mark, the leg openings got too tight and my son's legs would get pinched. I wish I would have gotten the Snugli (or a cheaper version of the Baby Bjorn). For three months, it certainly isn't worth the hefty pricetag. If you've got a lot of money to spare, then it's a good buy. If not, I would at least try the cheaper brands first to see if you can live with that before shelling out the $75.
Best carrier on the market! by onourwayhome ,Oct 23 '04
Pros: easy to pack, hands free, well designed Cons: pricey
My husband and I were about to move across the country weeks after our first baby's arrival. The last thing we wanted was another big thing to move (IE a stroller). So we thought why not get a Baby Bjorn b/c we'd only heard good things about them. It's true they are pricey, but worth every penny. This allowed us to take our little on everywhere with ease (esp. good for crowded place or tight spots). There are directions right on it if you get confused, I admit it was a bit confusing in thee beginning, but once you get the hang of it you're set. As our daughter grows I use it less b/c my shoulders hurt after awhile not to mention, now that she's curious and grabbing things. My suggestion is pick one up on Ebay to save a little (as we did) or put it on your registry.
Pros: comfortable, in or out facing, adjustable, durable, makes baby so happy, hands free. Cons: Not really able to nurse in it.
Baby Bjorn should be the first thing you purchase for your new baby. When given the choice between any other product (well, besides a carseat) and the baby bjorn I would choose the Baby Bjorn! I bought mine 5 years ago for my 1st daughter and we are still using it 3 kids later!
Like the look but hard to use by jmarief ,May 30 '06
Pros: Nice design. Attractive. Cons: Hard to get on and adjusted.
I thought this thing was a pain to use. By the time I got the thing on I had already had enough. You need to get the manual out just to figure it out. My husband would have to help me get the thing on. I think the price is high for the amount of time you will use it. I purchased this new off of ebay. I used it for walks and around the house. My son is now 7 months old he he grew out of it last month.
Pros: Baby loved it, hand's free, and baby can face away or toward you. Cons: Can be hot and it's benefits are short lived.
For babies 8 lbs / 21 inches through 22 lbs. This was absolutely one of our best purchases. I actually bought it used from a friend who has used it with her 2 children before us and we still had absolutely no problems with it. We used it regularly until our son was about 6 months old- even in the summer (although it was a little warm on especially hot days).
It was great for keeping him close when I wanted to get some work done or had to carry something. Often when he had trouble napping during the day, I could put him in the Bjorn facing me and he would go right to sleep. As he got a little older, he enjoyed facing out so he could see everyone! He liked it so much that occasionally I even strapped him in to go on a walk just to get him to stop crying.
My husband didn't like it quite as well (especially as our baby got older and longer) because sometimes his legs would hang down a little too far. It didn't bother me, but I do think after 15-16 pounds it's benefits begin to decrease.
Pros: Comfortable, Easily Adjustable, Easy on Back, Small Pocket for Storage Cons: Baby quickly out grows the product
We bought this Babybjorn Original Baby Carrier for our son when he was first born. We started using it when he was about 3 weeks old and had more neck control. We found this carrier to be very comfortable for me at 5'4" and for my husband at 5'8". The straps are easy to adjust and the front pocket to hold keys in was nice. We both could carry our son it for hours without any back discomfort. Our son also found it comfortable enough to sleep in. By the time our son was 6 months old, he was too large to comfortably fit in the carrier so we had to retire this great piece of baby equipment. The only thing we wished is that the baby carrying section could adjust to a larger size. Overall, I would recommend this product to any new parent who wants to carry their baby while having their hands free.
Pros: easy to use Cons: only can use for a short time
This was a really good thing when our baby was small. It is easy to use and wonderful for when you need to get some grocerys fast and the baby can just fall asleep i would highly recommended buying this product. It is a bit on the expensive side but well worth buying.
Pros: There are no pros Cons: Hard to manage, not comfy, ugly.
I was given this as a gift and I hate it. I guess I am more of a sling wearer. I have tried this carrier a few times, but I never like how itès going so I always go back to one of my slings.
Pros: Very brief respite from carrying a newborn. Might be able to take a short walk. Cons: Makes back ache, cumbersome, baby feels claustrophobic, lack of support for younger babies.
I loved the idea of this product, but I could only stand wearing it for a few minutes at a time. It was a cumbersome set-up (my personal preference against a front carrier, I guess) and it made my back ache terribly (perhaps the Baby Bjorn design). My son did not like being in it for more than a few minutes at a time (forward or backward facing -- I did try at different times during his first months). I also felt vulnerable because I could not see my feet, and if I needed to get or see something he was often obstructing my view. I imagined hands-free life but it did not work that way. I couldn't type on the computer, etc. I was disappointed.
