Pros: Solid and safe, good handling, 10 year hull warranty Cons: Fuel economy, uncomfortable for more than 2 people
When we moved to Southern California a couple of years ago, we wound up living about a 20 minute drive from Dana Point Harbor. It seemed kind of dumb to live this close to the ocean without taking advantage of it. I had an aluminum 17’ bass boat which...

Pros: None. Cons: Sank 2 1/2 hours after delivery. Attorney required to get response from manufacturer.
Purchasing this boat has been a complete nightmare. The boat was delivered with inexcusable hull defects and as a result, sank about three hours after the dealer (Olympic Boat Centers) put the boat in the water.
The dealer made two attempts to...

Pros: Solid, smooth ride, nicely laid out for fishing. Cons: Rear scuppers located higher than should be. Fish-tanks fill with rainwater.
Bought this boat on Ebay, I liked the Trophy 2002 design and layout for my "mission". My 1994 Trophy has a 120HP Merc Force motor, which my friends told me to get rid of immediately. Had the local marina replace water cooling parts, zincs, tune-up, etc, ...

2 year owners review
by joe1212 ,Jan 30 '05
Pros: This is a excellent value, rides well and has been reliable. Cons: Quality is lacking when compared to a Proline or Grady White.
Excellent Boat, Motor for the money. I have owned this boat for 2 years. I purchased used in 2003, boat had all the upgrades(hardtop, electronics compartment,8 rocket launchers, am/fm/cd 4speakers, Bennet trim tabs, autopilot. Weak motor, a 1999 120 hp Force. I really wish I had more ponies. It works well and has been reliable. Boat motor now has almost 500 hours of salt water usage and runs great. I have put 150 hours on motor, cruised to Catalina from Newport, CA (approx 30 miles offshore). Spent 4 nights in cabin with my 2 sons. An excellent time was had by all! I use this boat often.
This boats quality is not in the same league as a Grady White or Proline (my neighbor owns a 22' Proline, a truly beautiful boat!). Neither is it's price. You get what you pay for!

Bayliner Trophy 2002
by dieselbill ,Aug 01 '04
Pros: Great Value for your dollar. Cons: None
Year 2000 Trophy 2002 powered by 2000 Merc 150 saltwater series. Have owned since 2000 when purchased new from Highway Marine. Boat has run flawlessly. Good ride in a head sea and very stable on a drift. Deep and wide walkaround affords easy access to the bow for pulling anchor or casting a line. Merc 150 has been maintenance free and burns aprox 9-10GPH at 4,500 RPM while making 29-30 knots on GPS. Top speed is aprox 38-39 GPS knots @ 5,600 RPM. Only problem I've had was a small crack developed on the translucent cabin hatch which the dealership replaced immediately under warranty. Boat has been used primarily in freshwater, but a few times a year ventures up to 40 miles off Jersey for some tuna. Remember this is only a 21 ft boat so when going offshore make sure you pick your days based on the forecast. I possess over 25 years of seamanship experience off the Jersey coast and have owned many boats ranging in size from 12 to 43 feet. Personally I highly recommend the Trophy 2002.
