Pros: I didn't spend my money on it. Cons: It doesn't work.
In November of 2004 my husband I and discovered that we were finally pregnant after 18 heartbreaking months of trying. A friend, who finally conceived baby #3 after 7 years of trying, generously offered to give us all of her baby stuff, since at 41 she ...
Pros: Privacy, ability to listen to your baby anytime you wish. Cons: Does not work as claimed! Not refundable!
While preparing for our new baby, we stumbled across the BeBe Heart Sounds Monitor at the local Babies R Us store. After hearing the hearing the heartbeat at the Doctor's Office, I got excited and wanted to hear his heart beat at home. The advertising ...
Pros: Imagining the joy of hearing the baby anytime you want, and even bringing family together Cons: Unit doesnt work as advertised and the disapointment that follows.
This product was a disapointment to us during the pregnancy. We tried and tried and tried and never did get to hear the heart AT HOME. Now the unit that the doctors use, which closely resembles a walkman, works immediately when placed in the vacinity. ...
Pros: None Cons: Everything! It's a complete waste!
After enjoying the sound of my baby's heartbeat at the Dr's office I wanted to be able to allow my family to hear also. While browsing in Babies R Us I came across the Bebe sounds Heart Listener. It has two headphones for yourself and someone else to ...
I wanted this Graco Prenatal Heart Listener to be a cool way to get in touch with the unborn baby, but it never worked. I wrote my own review about it here: http://dadblast.com/?p=61I suppose that for the cheap price it wasn't likely to be a ...
Pros: None, unfortunately since it does not work. Cons: Everything. It does not work.
Please save your money......this does not work at ALL in any shape or form. It is unfortunate that the company preys on vulnerable pregnant women who would love to hear their baby! I was so excited when I brought this home - during my first pregnancy. I was so excited to hear my twins and when all I could hear was my stomach growling, I was very sad. Please, save your money for diapers.
Good for eavesdropping but that's about all.. by kmphillips73 ,Jul 02 '06
Pros: You can use it if you're ever worried your heart has stopped beating... Cons: It wasn't free.
My husband just HAD to have this and he was so sure it would work. We bought it when I was only 16 weeks pregnant and I'm now well into my third trimester and still no luck hearing a heartbeat. My two year old, however gets a kick out of listening to his tummy growl with it. We've also found that if you hold it up to the wall, you can hear the happenings in the next room ;) All things considered, the money would have been better spent on diapers or something actually useful. This being said, I'm glad it wasn't very expensive.
Product does not work as promised! by holycowpammi ,Sep 18 '05
Pros: Nothing that we could see. It would have been great if it worked. Cons: Doesn't do what it promises. It was a big waste of time & money!
My husband and I were very excited to come across this product while visiting the baby section of a local store. Since this was our first child we were understandably excited & we decided to give it a try.
We brought our "new toy" home and tried it out right away... nothing happened. I was almost 9 months pregnant so it should have picked up my little guys heart beating easily.
To put it mildly, we were very disappointed. Thank Goodness we were able to get our money back!
Deceptive Marketing, Product is a Big Let Down for Expectant Moms by gigglediva ,Jun 20 '05
Pros: easily purchased at most big retail stores Cons: does not work like the product claims it will.
I was not able to hear anything other than my own heartbeat and stomach sounds. Several of my friends have not heard anything either. Big disappointment!!
Well, I could hear the cars outside... by bryn76 ,Apr 23 '06
Pros: Can record maternal heartbeat for baby Cons: Picks up all other noises around you
Couldn't find fetal heartbeat ever
I bought this product when I was 21 weeks pregnant. I had heard that it wouldn't pick up the baby's heartbeat until well into the 3rd trimester, but someone also told me they got it to work around 22 weeks. I tried it off and on up until I delivered my baby...yet never once heard her heartbeat (or ANY fetal sounds, for that matter). I even have experience with fetal dopplers, so I knew where to find it and what to listen for, yet it never came across the heart listener. Maybe it was just because I couldn't hear it over the amplified sounds of the cars going by outside my house, the kids playing down the street, or the TV in the apartment downstairs (which I couldn't hear UNTIL I put the heart listener headphones on). At least it would be good for eavesdropping.
Pros: Two headsets, volume control, easy to operate Cons: Picks up tons of background noise, which is hard to distinguish from "real" uterus noise.
I've read lots of negative review of this device, and wanted to add a success story. We bought it yesterday from Babies R Us, and I had pretty low expectations since I'm only 20 weeks pregnant. However, what a great surprise it was today to hear my baby's steady heartbeat! I spent quite a while hearing only stomach gurgling and background noise before hearing the heartbeat. I think it helps to listen to your own heart, and also to play around to get familiar with what's background noise and what's 'real' uterus sounds. It took a lot of patience, but I was thrilled when it worked and I hope it keeps working throughout the rest of this pregnancy.
Don't waste your time and money!!! by odemchuk ,Jun 12 '06
Pros: I didn't find a single pro, unfortunately. Cons: Useless
I got the monitor for peace of mind - it's nice that any time you want you can hear your baby. It promises a lot of things on the packaging - you can hear baby's heartbeat, hiccups, moves, can record it and send via e-mail to your relatives, which all sounds pretty good, right? I've been trying to find baby's heart for days - the only thing I got was my own heartbeat and all kinds of digestion sounds or simply roar.
Anyway, there's no use of this thing whatsoever. Don't get caught to nice phrases - you'll get sooooooo disappointed!
Money is better off elsewhere by jlc262 ,Oct 20 '04
Pros: Would make a great children's toy Cons: It just doesn't work.
My husband and I were thrilled when we saw the advertisement for this product. When I was 5 months pregnant we rushed to nearest Walmart and picked it up, regardless of the criticism we were told. We arrived home and realized no batteries were included, so of course my husband ran back to the store to get them. We throughly read the manual to ensure that it would work properly. However we tried for almost an hour and couldn't get anything! We gave it a rest and tried again at 7 months, still nothing. Then we tried every now and then until 2 days before my son was born, still nothing! This device would make a great toy for a child to play with but not for listening to your unborn baby's heart. Use the money for late night cravings at Taco Bell instead!
Great "doctor" toy for 3 year old... by tysmum0383 ,Sep 14 '06
Pros: Great toy for 3 year old! Cons: DOESN'T WORK!
My husband and I bought this product just like the rest of the people hoping to hear our daughters heartbeat... It has still yet to happen. I am 34 weeks pregnant, and have yet to hear it. It is now in our 3 year olds toy box and he uses it to play "doctor" w/ mommy, and pretends to hear her heartbeat!
Pros: Ease of use (with practice of course), simplicy of model, recording ability. Cons: Background noise, static, inconvience of use at random timeing.
Yes, there is a lot of background noise. I found it amusing at how many different sounds there are. Wonder if it's that noisy for baby too? It did take some time and scheduling time at appropriate times of day, but with practice, from the first day and therefore, I heard my baby's heartbeat every day. Was this product conveinient outside of scheduled times, not really, but it did live up to what it said it would do, and was realistic with the instructions of trying after feeding times, and first thing in the morning, ect. It does not live up to todays fast pasted, "I want it right now" attitude. But it does work. And I love the recording ability. Plus, I love the fact, that two can listen at the same time (so cuddely & loving), or I can sit in my reclinder while he watchs wresting or racing and listen to what's more important to me!
