Pros: 300Mbps connection speed and simple installation Cons: very short modem cable
Over the past five months we have gone through two different wireless routers in our home. The first was a Linksys and the other was a Netgear and unfortunately both suffered the same fate; loss of wireless connection. That meant we had to stretch ...
Pros: Sleek. blue-lit exterior, smaller footprint, relatively inexpensive( now ) Cons: Unreliable, not the fastest out there, draft-N is old tech now.
When I purchased this router in Nov 2007, I was excited to be upgrading to N speeds, as I was replacing my venerable NetGear WGR614 802.11g router which had finally failed after years of solid service. This review will focus simply on the ...
Pros: Easy setup and good performance Cons: Not the best configuration page
In Oct-2007, I purchased the Belkin Wireless N Router, Model F5D8233-4, for $80. This router is built to the not-quite-official-but-stable-
enough-to-use
802.11n standard. Previously I used wireless G routers (Belkin and Netgear), but a couple of rooms...
Pros: Cheap price
very small "footprint" Excellent range
Consistant speeds Cons: interface is not user friendly
slow to reboot after config changes
I agree with the previous comment for the most part. The lack of a printed manual is not a big deal, since the manaul is included on the CD guide that comes with it. (I didn't use it at all). That is point worth mentioning, you DO NOT need to use the ...
Pros: Looks nice out of package, decent range Cons: Expensive new, wouldn't work right with more than one connection, complicated to work with PS3
I was happy at first with this router. Out of the package it's sleek and modern looking. There are cool blue lights telling you if the security, wireless, wired, router, modem, and internet are working. If any of those are not working, they change colors ...
Great Router if It Didn't Quit Working So Often by psr7 ,Feb 03 '08
Pros: Easy interface. Higher speed downloads and longer range with stronger signal. Cons: Router loses Internet connection every day. Requires disconnecting from power source to restart the router.
I purchased the Pre-N Belkin Wireless Router to replace an existing G router to gain greater distance and higher download speed. The Belkin router does these things very well. It was easy to install and setup on my desktop and laptop. My laptop receives a strong signal from the router, even located more than 60 feet away. The security protection helps to protect my signal from anyone else. The other features regarding the network configuration work very well. My router is connected through a short cable to my cable modem.
The problem is that the router loses Internet connection at least once a day. After speaking with technical support, the only answer I receive is to unplug my modem and my router for one minute and then reconnect them. This usually works to restore the modem and internet connection, but why should I have to do it on a daily basis. Customer support has no answers to this problem so I can't rate this router as excellent.
Pros: it looks cool. Cons: worked for a week. couldnt find my modem.
i bought this router because i wanted a wireless router that would be faster than a g. i purchased the n router and wireless network adapter from belkin. i went through the setup process. when i was finished, i was promptly instructed to call belkin tech help. odd.
so it worked off and on for a while.
the final straw is when the router couldnt find the modem. i could not connect to the internet using the wireless adapter, or through the ps3 or the xbox360. i plugged the x360 directly to my modem and had no problems.
yes i did the unplug for 10 second on both the modem and the router.
i was extremely disappointed with this product.
a week after purchase i took back the router and bought a linksys for the same price.
now it looks like i will take back the wireless n adapter by belkin as well. talk about SLOW!! that item is a piece of work in of itself.
this item does not come recommended
Pros: Awsome signal strenght. Strongest I have ever seen. Easy to set up. WPA works nicely. Cons: Loses port forwarding Loses router password,DMZ not work. restart required pretty much every 2 days
I use a lot of port forwards for various servers and remote applications on my home network. I am sure you are aware of this issue. However. I keep losing my port forwards and have to reset router to get them back. This happens pretty much on a daily basis and prevents me from remotely operating my home servers. Issue number two is I have a router password on the router and on a weekly basis I lose my router password. It resets to null. I put the newest firmware on and I think you may need to work on this firmware a bit more. You can not even put a ip behind the DMZ without it affecting the network bandwidth. If you do put something behind the router DMZ the router will unbalance itself to the open port leaving the rest of your network with limited to no bandwidth.
If they ever release new firmware this would be the best router I have ever owned.
Pros: Pretty to look at. Cons: Will not stay connected to internet.
Good looking router, easy to set up lasted about 3 months. Then the trouble started with it dropping the Internet all the time. I have restarted this router as many as 15 times in a day. Talking to Belkin tech support is a joke. Unplug it, wait, then turn it back on does it work now? Yes it does. Then the problem is fixed have a nice day! With it all starting over 20 minutes later. We have tried resetting to factory defaults and this sometimes helps for 24 hours or so but most of the time has no affect. As an electronic tech I have come to the conclusion that the unit CPU and or the software has a defect in it that Belkin refuses to fix or for that matter even admit it exists. The problem seems to be in the DHCP Client portion of the chip or software as the last command to go out in the security log is WAN Send Discover then it crashes.
Do not waste your time on this product. It is defective by design and tech support is none existent.
