Belkin TuneBase FM Car / Plane Charger, FM Transmitter for iPod digital player car holder / FM transmitter / charger (S5472691)
Pros: Superior to other transmitters, cheap alternative to installing audio equipment Cons: will not fit in all cars, densely populated areas will have reception trouble
My wife and I commute together on a 30-45 minute ride back and forth. CD’s are such a pain, and we can’t mix between our different styles of music. This was the perfect solution. We picked this one because several of her friends also had a radio ...
Pros: Flexible Holding Arm, Good Relative Signal Strength Cons: Quiet, No backlight
I've tried three FM Transmitters; the TuneBase, the DLO TransPod, and the Griffin iTrip. This one was probably the one I liked most. It's signal isn't as strong as the TransPod, but it's flexibility makes up for it. The sound was modestly clear (Milwaukee, WI) most of the time, but it was quiet. My 2001 Honda Accord is not a loud car and it has an ok stereo, but I had to turn the volume all the way up at highway speeds to hear the music well (there is a volume control on the unit, but it didn't help much). I had the same volume problem with the TransPod and finally gave up and got a simple cassette tape adaptor. If you don't have a tape adaptor, this will work. It's cheaper than the TransPod and it's arm is much more flexible. I'd try this first and if it isn't a strong enough signal, spend the extra money for the TransPod. (the iTrip didn't work at all for me.)
