Pros: Some cool visuals, good story Cons: The whole thing looks like a PS3 game cinematic
Summary: I saw Beowulf on Thanksgiving night and was not overly impressed. I liked the movie and was entertained by it, but I thought it had a major novelty factor that wore thin pretty quickly. My friend agreed. I know several other people who already saw ... read more

Pros: Beautiful depiction of Denmark, fantastic animation and outstanding voice acting. Cons: Strays from the original tale but offers a fantastic alternative to the classic horror.

Pros: Decent storyline, good cast... Cons: ... too much blood, too little character development, and where's the fun?!?
Summary: Beowulf is based on the oldest English narrative poem in existence (at least, if there's an older one, I don't know about it!). I'm not sure exactly how much the film sticks to the original, but it's basically the classic tale of ... read more

Pros: the ending is good, the dragon is awesome, Anthony Hopkins, Angelina Jolie Cons: boring beginning, looks like a video game, the story promises much but delivers little
Summary: All that build-up, just to get to the dragon? (Beowulf) Tidbits: This is not the story that you might have been forced to read in high school. For me, it was college. The film has the flavor of a ... read more

Pros: Fantastic CGI Cons: Decent actors (and some less decent actors) wasted on a poor plot.
Summary: I rented Beowulf the other night to watch with my mum, who loves all things ancient Britain. Unfortunately, we both felt disappointed. First, the good stuff. The CGI is phenomenal. Really. The leaps and bounds that have been made in the field of ... read more

Pros: A mindblowing ride through the greatest Saga of all time! Cons: May need some backstory to fully appreciate.

Pros: Excellent graphics and story. Cons: Gore and sexual references and scenes. Not really PG-13

Pros: Epic fight scenes and great CGI animation on main characters. Cons: Tries to put a modern twist on a very old story.
Summary: Beowulf has become the next movie in a line of testosterone-driven movies. It is filled with action, sex, and underlying morals about the temptation of man. The movie is very much like 300, which drew in many young male viewers because of its ... read more

Pros: CG good sometimes, nice attention to mythology/legend Cons: CG bad sometimes, boring characters, too straightforward

Pros: Are you kidding? Cons: Everything about the movie
Summary: I'm aghast at how many positive reviews I've seen about Beowulf. I thought it was one of the worst movies I've ever seen (ranks down there with Bloodrayne and The Last Legion). Maybe everyone who enjoyed it was a fan of the original story. Maybe I walked ... read more

Pros: Action! More action! Cons: Didn't follow poem.
Summary: The makers of the movie apparently decided that following the poem wouldn't let them get enough sex into a movie that would otherwise be devoted solely to blood and gore. It wasn't like the movie made no sense because it diverged from the book, it's ... read more

Pros: Great animation, good story Cons: Lots of blood and guts.

Pros: See this for the dazzling animation and the gory blood-letting. Cons: If this were a live action film, I probably would've waited for the dvd.
Summary: BEOWULF isn't exactly subtle. In the annals of barbaric Sword & Sorcery, subtlety doesn't much enter into the picture. This movie instead is over-the-top, gruesome, and oh so violent. And that's just the way we like our Beowulf. The story, written by ... read more
