Pros: Awesome product. A great value and a great nights rest finally! Comfortable and affordable. Cons: Smell...not toxic but you will notice it, doesn't affect sleep. Customer service needs improvement.
If you are reading this you will be just like we were; doing homework and very afraid to buy a mattress online from a relatively unknown company. It's worth the risk. I will try and support that claim by the following information. First off, I would ...
Pros: Great deal, great comfort, great sleep Cons: None really
We read the reviews of others who found the Bergad Isofrom bed to be as good as Tempur-pedic. However, I'm one who has to see it to believe it. I found that the Bergad factory was only 2 hrs from my home so we took a drive over to Ford City, PA to find ...
Pros: GREAT MATTRESS, WHEN IT'S DOESN'T BREAK DOWN! Cons: DEAL WITH ANY COMPANY BUT THIS ONE, FORGET YOUR 20 YR. WARRANTY-HE WON'T HONOR IT!
The product itself is a wonderful item, however WHEN it breaks down after 7-8 yrs. and want it replaced it takes an "Act of GOD" to be rectified. "Saul" whom sold me this item at a much higher price (of course, being an up and coming item)than what they ...
Pros: Compares very favorably to other memory foam mattresses BUT HUNDREDS/THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS CHEAPER! Cons: A leap of faith; you can't try the product in stores.
I'll try to keep my 4-month mattress buying odyssey as short as possible as you have better things to do than listen to my woes. However, the good news is our search finally ended joyously last week (thanks to Bergad). I just wish my wife and I had ...
Pros: -Cost -Supports various sleeping positions -Firm Mattress
Cons: -Don't deliver to your door or set-up -Initial smell
My husband and I decided to purchase the Bergad Isoform Queen size mattress and accompanying box spring. It arrived mid December so we've been sleeping on it for 3 weeks now. We upgraded from a very inexpensive spring loaded mattress. I have had ...
Pros: Great price. Excellent product. I liked the Yellow Freight shipping service. Cons: Communications bad. Sales should not promise services they cannot deliver.
Lately I've been having back pain and stiffness upon awaking, so I thought it was time for a new mattress. I liked the feel of the Tempur-Pedic but not the huge price. While researching alternatives on the web I cam across the Bergad Isoform. Bearing ...
Pros: the bed is wonderful, the pad is almost better Cons: customer service, YELLOW FREIGHT SUCKS
I would have to agree with a lot of these other reviews. First off I bought the king size bed and a queen size 3 inch pad for my 5th wheel. I love them both; I have had the best sleep since getting them! They are pretty firm and if you don’t like ...
Pros: Comfortable; Inexpensive (compared to other foam mattresses) Cons: Terrible delivery service; Far too long for delivery; Very firm foam
Let it be stated that there is nothing like Tempurpedic out there. Anyone has tried one - and I've tried two different levels of Tempurpedic - will agree that sleeping on Tempurpedic mattresses is like sleeping on a cloud. That said, most people ...
Pros: less expensive than tempur-pedic Cons: extremely soft, slow response, expensive return
Based on extremely good review on Bergad mattresses on epinion I bought Bergad Opulence for $1400. I wanted to buy a firm mattress. The Bergad sales representative said that Opulence is their firmest mattress, similar to the Rhapsody of Tempurpedic. I ...
As good as Tempurpedic for nearly half the price! by dmwest ,Jan 14 '04
Pros: Excellent product; firmness, construction, comparable if not superior to Tempurpedic. Cons: Can't test it first. Small-ish operation.
Ok,
Nobody feels too comfortable buying a big ticket item like a mattress over the phone or on the Internet, without being able to try it first, but this company has an excellent product for a fraction of the price that Tempurpedic charges for their imported and well advertised mattresses.
Saul and the folks at Bergad seem very nice, honest and informative. They seem to do the bulk of their business regionally, providing viscoelastic mattresses, pads and products to the hospital industry. They are building a bigger factory to boost their capacity and currently seem to make the best viscoelastic memory foam mattress that money can buy, and are able to do so at nearly half the cost of Tempurpedic
Pros: Very good quality. Cons: Did not purchase soon enough.
Have purchased three Queen mattresses kits from Bergad in the past three years for our summer and winter homes and one daughter with back problems and ready to purchase two twin at this time. Very good quality and the best price I could find after extensive research on the web. Give John a call, he will take care of you.
Pros: Everything Cons: Looks a little boxy when you have the comforter on.
I was looking for a new and bigger mattress because our full bed was getting way to small for me and my wife. I looked around on the internet, but then found 62 reviews all about this Bergad mattress. Ive heard of foam mattress's before but didn't know if they were good or not. Well after reading all of these amazing reviews, I took a gamble and ordered a queen one sight unseen. They didn't have the one I wanted in stock, so they sent me the upgraded one with the deluxe mattress topper.
When it first arrived it was kinda hard, but then I laid in it for a couple more seconds and it magically warms up and molds to your body, its crazy!
It took about 2 nights to fully get used to it.
From that time on, I was in love with the bed. No more pains in my lower back or in my chest (side sleeper).
I 110% recommend this to anyone who is looking for a better mattress.
11 months later and I am one happy camper by j4gtr ,Nov 20 '06
Pros: Therapeutic Comfort at a very affordable price. Cons: You won't get in house delivery which for me was no big deal.
I suffered with a sciatic issue that seemed to get worse when I slept on our old mattress. I would wake in the middle of the night; I had to get up for relief. I purchased a 12" mattress from Bergad last December. It arrived in one week as promised. Now I sleep in total comfort. If my sciatic acts up during the day a good nights rest seems to realign my back and I'm without pain. I am 6'6" about 220 and very physically active. This bed is by far one of the best values I have found. It is a pleasure to relax in every night. I wish every product I purchased was this satisfying and rewarding.
Good bed dysfunctional (or dishonest) vendor by moechris ,Feb 16 '05
Pros: Based on 7+ months of use, a very good mattress for a reasonable price. Cons: Customer Service sucks
This is my first ever foam mattress so the only comparison I have is with regular mattresses. After a few days of getting used to it, I enjoy it a lot. The Bergad folks are something else. I ordered a mattress and explicitly asked for a damask cover. Mine arrived with the terry. I called and was told that they would send me a damask cover. Well, that was June of last year and after sending numerous emails and not getting a response, I decided to screw it.
They were responsive and courteous until the sale was made.
Pros: Good customer service
Comparatively inexpensive
Soft Cons: Local shipping company could be "non-cooperative"
I want to thank people @Bergad for being very helpful and supportive. Customer service is good, I was impressed how quickly they react in case of any question or problem..
About a mattress - it's a bargain compare to tempur-pedic,
with same good quality.
Pros: Value and quality! Cons: Need in-house delivery
I was scared straight about buying such a large item such as my queen size isoform mattress via internet but to my pleasant surprise everything worked out perfectly! After I've read read all the reviews from Epinions.com, I was prepared for the worse as far as the customer service end of it, my e-mails were returned promptly and all of the calls I've made to Bergad were friendly and informative (A+). The delivery date was set at two weeks it came in seven work days, another plus. As nit picky as I am I really could'nt tell the two apart...(Bergad vs. Tempur-pedic) other than I got the same quality product for a fraction of the cost! ($999.00 vs. $1699.00) For those with a platform bed, a 1/2" thick sheet of plywood thru out the entire surface should be placed on top of the slats to provide a solid surface to prevent the foam from disfiguring. I used particle board and it works great!
Pros: Comfort, Cost, Durability Cons: Hitting the snooze button one too many times.
I have been sleeping on my Bergad mattress for over a year now. All I can say is... I LOVE IT. Before this, I had a pricey Serta, pillow top, that I thought was the cats meow, I now realize there is no comparison. This bed is comfortable, sometimes too comfortable. I used to wake up in the middle of the night with aches and pains in my legs or lowerback, then toss and turn because I wasnt comfortable. The only thing that wakes me up now is my dog and the occasional thunderstorm or fire-whistle. I was hesitant to getting a foam mattress, because I read that those fancy brookstone foam beds will collapse over time, the chemist's working for Bergad must really know what they are doing, because my bed is in great shape with no signs of wearing, even after moving 3 times in the past year. I would reccomend them to make recliners and couch's next.
I spoke with a few people on the phone, who were all very pleasant. I give Bergad Beds two thumbs up, AND they are Made in the USA by American Workers on American Soil.
Excellent product and great service by dmewborn ,Jul 18 '05
Pros: Most comfortable mattress we've ever owned. Cons: None that would discourage us from buying one again.
We purchased a Bergad mattress based on reviews we read at Epinions.com, and we have been very pleased with it. It is the most comfortable bed we've ever had, and we've been sleeping great since we received it. As reported by others, the mattress had a slight chemical odor initially, but it disappeared within a week. We especially like the fact that the bed doesn't move when when person turns over or gets out of bed.
We ordered the mattress on a Tuesday evening just before the 4th of July holiday weekend, and it was delivered the following Friday (10 days later, including a 3-day weekend). Contrary to the experiences of others, we had no problems with the delivery company. There was no damage to the box or the mattress, and the driver was very helpful.
The mattress (king size) is flimsy and doesn't have handles, so it is difficult to move with only one person, but it was doable with 2 adults.
Very high quality and low price by pawilsnj ,Feb 09 '06
Pros: Price, excellent quality, resists dust mites, $50 shipping to my door Cons: Takes some getting used to initially. Can't try in store.
I had tried friends' knockoff memory foam mattresses and been unimpressed. After seeing the large number of positive reviews on epinions, I decided Bergad Isoform was worth a try. It is dramatically better than the knockoff products I tried. I have a feeling it's better than the Tempur original, though I've only laid on that one for a few seconds at Brookstone. After a talk with the Bergad saleswoman I settled on the 8" mattress, which is recommended for those who favor a firm traditional mattress. The feel is very firm, yet the surface is yielding and does mold the way you'd expect. No pressure points. I must admit that the adjustment period to this type of mattress is not instant. But I think I found the mattress for me. The feel is very luxurious, a very serious mattress, better than my girlfriend's $1500 Beautyrest. She's bummed about her purchase, but thrilled about my purchase.
Pros: It was shipped promptly and the shipping company di Cons: Returned the mattress, now they have both my mattress and money.
I feel like I've been had. This mattress was not at all what was advertised and the people working there only care about keeping your money. The 90 day return period is a joke that they will not recognize and will do anything in their power to ignore it.
Pros: Extremely comfortable well worth the investment. Superior to an inner-spring. Cons: Return policy not as good as Tempurpedic so taking a risk.
My husband and I purchased a queen mattress from Bergad 5 months ago. This has been one of the best purchases we ever made. It took us a long time to decide to buy it over the internet and the reviews that went into the customer service made us really skeptical - given the importance of the decision. After testing the Tempurpedic and other knock-off mattresses we decided that if it didn't suit us then we would put it in the guest room and get a mattress at a local store.
The mattress is firm and yet contours to the shape of the body. Now, when we are away from home we have difficulty sleeping on a regular inner-spring mattress. The quality of sleep and therefore life has dramatically increased. We have tested the tempurpedic and can definitely feel a difference; however, for the difference in price Bergad offers a great product that has made a huge difference in our ability to sleep.
Pros: comfortable helps patients with back problems Cons: quite expensive
This mattress is the best you can get on the market. Probably this is the most expensive mattress but well worth the money! This mattress will last you years and it comes in many different sizes (twin, queen, and king). I bought this product because I thought that this product may help cure scoliosis and it helped reduce my scoliosis by 10 degrees which is quite an accomplishment. This mattress is comfortable, long lasting, and easy to clean. Buy it!
Pros: Great price, excellent service, great mattress. Cons: None.
After searching the web and reading as many reviews as I could find, I decided that I would try a Bergad Isoform mattress. A quick summary is that customer service was great, shipping was on time and in perfect condition, very slight odor that went away quickly (couple of days) and an excellent quality product.
As far as how it sleeps, my wife and I will never go back to a traditional mattress. We sleep the whole night through with none of the tossing and turning, back pain or pressure points making your arms and hands go to sleep. It is a wonderful mattress.
Good product....difficult customer service by carefulconsum ,Oct 27 '04
Pros: Good product Cons: inefficient (almost rude) customer service rep
delivery inflexible
We got this for my dad , who has bad arthritis, and he seems most comfortable so far (2.5 months)....the price was decent, although I think S/H is high....when I asked very specific questions I kinda got a runaround....at one point the customer service rep just laughed in my face (over the phone)...I called because 2 eMails went unanswered....seems to be very small company, and at least the person I spoke to, needs to learn how to treat customers....but so far we like the product.
PS the delivery company they use is ridiculous...they called me on a Monday and said if I did'nt set up delivery by that Wed (9a-5p) I would have to pay a storage fee of $20 a day!!! I was'nt off til Friday, so I got screwed!
Pros: Works great first year around, a little slow to air up to its full state. Cons: Customer service blows, would be better off outsourced, at least they would be polite.
I have owned this bed for a year, pump has gone out, bed deflates. 2500 dollars worth of bed and they still want me to continue to trouble shoot it for a week before they will ship parts when we have already isolated the problem and have determined it is the pump that is bad.
customer service claims there is no managers around to take my call. - Poor customer service.
Easy to Order, Takes Time to Get Used to by djwilson30 ,Dec 23 '04
Pros: Ordering, delivery all easy. Great price. Cons: Took about a week to get rid of industrial smell offgassing from mattress.
Ordered on line, got an email response immediately saying they will let me know when king size mattress is shipped, got that email. got a call from the trucking company, they delivered it up the 3 flights of stairs to my house. Easy as pie. My partner immediately was fine with mattress' comfort. It's taking me a little time but I have crummy posture so this is probably in the long run helping me. Will stick it out. Also, easy to get mattress up a staircase that turns.
Bergad Isoform mattress topper is excellent by macondew ,Jan 12 '06
Pros: Comfortable, high quality, free shipping Cons: Slight chemical odor dissipated after a few days
I did a lot of research about viscoelastic mattresses, and I wondered if I could find high quality without paying a high price for a brand name. I ordered the 3" mattress topper from Bergad, and it arrived in less than a week in perfect condition. It had a slight odor (like polyurethane) that dissipated in a few days. It's very comfortable, and seems to ease a lot of my back pain. I was a bit concerned about buying the topper based on the reviews, but I had no difficulties with the buying experience.
Pros: Cheaper than Tempurpedic Cons: Bed loses support in less than a year. Horrible Customer Service.
This mattress was great for a few months. After one year the foam is so soft that it offers no support and now both my wife and I have bad back pain. Bergad won't return my calls or respond to email. Very poor customer service. The warranty is worthless. I wouldn't recommend this bed to anyone.
Best Mattress I've Ever Owned by garytayl ,Oct 15 '08
Pros: Very very comfortable. Excellent quality and value. Best on the market. Cons: The king is bulky/heavy and difficult to set up. Have help ready.
We bought our Isoform Opulence mattress last June (2008). I wanted to wait a few months before writting this to make sure I wouldn't discover any flaws or issues after posting a review. I have to tell you that my wife and I are extremely pleased with this mattress. It's so good we look forward to getting in bed earlier than usual, and tend to stay there longer. The only drawback is you won't want to get up in the AM. We just bought the mattress and continued to use our existing box spring. The combination works fine. We also purchased a couple of pillows. I've always been very particular about the feather/down pillows I would buy, but these are much better. They're also priced right. After using this mattress for the past 5 months, there's no sign of any ware. It still seems brand new. You'll be happy with this choice. I'm looking to buy another for my daughter's room very soon and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to a friend.
The Isoform semi-flex box spring: Incredibly poor workmanship and it arrived broken by brendanod ,Jan 20 '08
Pros: they replaced the foundation, but I have no faith in it. Cons: they replaced the foundation with the very same garbage.
The foundation arrived broken. We peeled off the dust cover underneath and we saw very cheap wood with lots of knots. A broken wood beam that broke on a knot. Cardboard was plainly visible. The support wood beams and columns did not match up. Very shoddy workmanship. And this is supposed to be "american-built". I have photos
how long have had you had yours??? by markmess2000 ,May 03 '09
Pros: loved it when it was new...first 3 years Cons: seems like it is drying out...?
I have had mine for a little over 4 years and...
I loved it for 3 years, but then I thought it was getting a little softer... now I think it is softer and not as supportive as it was when it was first received. As a matter of fact to me this is how it seems..... like the foam has lost its' "moisture" like it is drying out? if that makes sense.
RETURN SERVICE TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE by joanruth ,May 03 '06
Pros: NONE FOR US..... Cons: TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE RETURN SERVICE....
We kept in touch with Roasann but Bergad mattress just didn't work for us. She refused to give return authorization for our shipper or name of a manager or owner. Return shipping fees were extremely high but we found Captain Steve at USHIP website. He did a marvelous job FL to PA for $150...Bergad even talked of hiring him.
But no credit came through. During the next month firm refused to return our continued phone calls and emails. We were ready to take action TODAY and the credit suddenly appeared on line!!
Pros: Conforms to your body, very comfortable, price, quick delivery Cons: None
After spending months reviewing the Tempur-pedic and the Isoform, I decided to go with Bergad ... primarily because of cost. I was hesitant because of all of the negative reviews here on this site, but I must say I did not have a problem with Bergad or with Yellow. I ordered my mattress online, and was pleasantly surprised when I rec'd 2 free king size isoform pillows to go with my new mattress and box spring. Yellow contacted me almost immediately to schedule a time to deliver my mattress. I was told any time between 10 and 6. They arrived at 11:30. The box containing the mattress was pretty much destroyed, but the mattress was fine. The smell was not horrible or overpowering as some have stated ... and it also dissipates. Last night was the first time I slept on my new mattress, and this morning was the first time in YEARS that I did not wake with back or neck pain. I will post an update in a few months. For the record, I am mainly a stomach and side sleeper. The mattress was $999 and the box spring was $209. Delivery was $150.00
Pros: Solid Value. Fast Delivery Cons: Can't try it before you buy it. Poor follow up after ordering.
My wife and I had been looking for a foam mattress and tried a few out. Based on the reviews for the Bergad mattress on this site we bought one. I read that the Yellow Freight was a problem and I can see how it could be. When ours arrived they seemed less than happy to try and make a delivery. They talked about wanting to call me and schedule an ETA in a four hour window but were really non-committal. Instead I opted to pick it up at their warehouse. If you have this option (and a full size pickup truck) then I recommend it. The warehouse was open 24/7 and it was much easier.
The bed seems good so far (only had it one night) and the pillows are pretty good also. I will write more after a month or so on the bed.
All in all a much better value then other foam mattresses out there.
Again, if you can pick up your own mattress that will likely save you a headache.
Quality Product - Fantastic Price by mark4858 ,Jun 08 '05
Pros: Price and quality. Cons: Waiting.
If you know for sure you want a memory foam mattress, Bergad is the best place to buy one. The product and price cannot be beat. The only issue is that Bergad is a smaller operation, and they make your mattress after you order it. If you are an impulsive shopper, you might have a frustrating experience. If you can be a little patient, you wont be disappointed. We had a great experience, and the bed is the most comfortable bed we have ever owned. I will shop at Bergad again, and I recommend the company to anyone interested in purchasing a memory foam mattress.
Pros: Comfort, ease of sale, price Cons: Shipping charges, Customer Service pretty weak
Now, 2 years later...
The bed developed several very large cracks (one all the way through). I called and was basically told that for they would send me a new foam top and that I should "glue it to the bottom piece of foam"! After I questioned why I should do that on a 2 yr old bed, they offered to send me a whole new bed...for a $150 shipping fee. I asked if they have had many people with similar problems, they stated that "this has never happened before". A little ethics test...it happened to my in-laws' Bergad bed after less than a year.
After 3 months, a new bed arrived (got the shipping down to $100). So, I have to stand by my earlier statement that the bed is the most comfortable I have slept on, but I expect that the quality is lacking, and I will probably have to deal with the warranty issue again.
One weird thing about this company...the "Owner" seems to be unwilling to expose himself and come out of hiding and stand next to his customers. Everyone is complicit in keeping him in hiding. What has he gained in being so mysterious?
Just Purchased King Mattress by davidchicago75 ,Jan 11 '06
Pros: PRICE WITH EQUAL Tempur-Pedic Quality. Cons: The slight smell, but that should go away in a couple weeks.
Bottom line - I cant see spending $2400 for a Tempur-Pedic when Bergad.com is the practically the SAME Mattress. I saved 1500 and it didn't take any time to get used to sleeping on memory foam (in fact, I slept better because I couldn't feel the bed moving from my partner tossing and turning).
The delivery was fine...but I felt bad for the 1 driver walking the mattress up the stairs. The mattress came in perfect condition. There is an initial smell...it doesn't bother me...but I was prepared to sleep on our old bed for a couple of weeks to give the smell time to disappear.
Superb Quality, No Odor, Lovely Customer Service, Great Price, Excellent Shipping Experience, American-made, Consistent Density by epinion20164 ,Jul 21 '06
Pros: American-made and of guaranteed consistent density, no strong odor Cons: none
I was familiar with Bergad's Isoform products from research I did when buying a mattress topper alone for our too-hard mattress, 7 months ago. That came within 5 days at holiday
time, had no strong odor, and fixed our problem. So when it came time to outfit our small children with big-kid beds, I looked to Bergad again. I got informative answers, small-town friendly ("we don't use customer numbers, just use your name") customer service, and the items arrived just 48 hours after I ordered them by phone! Phenomenal. And they're in great shape; the shipping company was superb and the driver even unwrapped them with my permission and brought them to the kids' bedroom for me (but perhaps it was pity for my advanced state of pregnancy that led him to bend the rules a bit for me). The kids are too little to provide a meaningful review, but they're having a great time flopping on their new beds!
Pros: Great sleep, great comfort, great price. Cons: No cons at all.
Got the Luna model (king) in July. It is amazing!
I used to get out of bed like a 80 year old man; back aching, neck hurting, etc, etc. 2 weeks later, I spring out of bed, pain free.
The mattress is as comfortable as can be. I had reservations that the mattress would be to "hot" as I tend to heat up while I sleep. I've noticed no discernable increase in temperature from my old mattress.
I would recommend this brand/mattress to anyone who wants a great nights sleep.
Bye the way, did I mention that this brand is about 1/2 the cost of Tempurpedic?
Pros: Mattress shipped very quickly and we didnt have any problems with the delivery company. Cons: Uncomftorable and sagged/sunk in within 2 months.
This is the worst mattress we have ever purchased. Within 2 months of buying this mattress it completely sunk in, in the middle. This made the mattress so uncomftorable we couldn't even sleep in it anymore. We attempted to flip the mattress over in hopes of a better night sleep. This did not work either and after 2 months we had to purchase a different mattress. I strongly recommend not buying this mattress. We spent just under $1k and we were forced to replace the mattress within 2 months. I cannot think of a worse investment than that!!!!
Great Product, Until There is a Problem! by cjkbme2w ,Sep 11 '09
Pros: Comfortable Mattress, Low Price Cons: Worst Customer Service
I got the Luna mattress in late 2007 and have been very pleased with the sleep I have received since that time. However, the top foam material is starting to crack and also slide away from the underlying foam. These layers use to be flush when I got the product.
My repeated attempts to contact Bergad to ask about this problem have gone unanswered and I would have to rate this the worst customer service experience I have had.
Pros: good for about a year . . . Cons: mattress will not hold up-- foam not dense enough, even if you are very light.
If you call with a problem, like i did (a defective mattress) and reach customer service rep "Roseann" she will be of no help. Will give you the run around. Told me to fax in my receipt, which I did then when I called to see if she received it, she stated she did and it was on the "manager's desk" and that he would call me within the next day. Never called. I then emailed to say, "what's up?" never heard back from her. This went on for over three weeks. Finally called back and spoke to "Saul" who said he would "look into this."
Shopping and could use feedback by sleepyhead444 ,Jul 07 '08
Pros: Very comfortable Cons: Customer service not helpful
For some reason my original message didn't post, so here goes.
These reviews have been helpful. We have a store locally that carries Isoform, and the firm mattress is extremely comfortable--we're considering purchasing one. However, overall customer service has not been good and I'm concerned about the numerous complaints by reviewers regarding phone/online customer service, especially if the buyer has problems with the product. Also, I'd like to hear more from reviewers after they've owned their bed for one+ years--is it holding up? Is it still comfortable? How much indentation? A few reviewers have expressed problems with wear/degradation that's causing sleepless nights, and I'd like to find out if this product will stay comfortable for the long haul. Thank you.
3 1/2 years later terrible back pain by rosskell ,Apr 26 '08
Pros: it was much cheaper than a tempurpedic Cons: it doesn't last
We bought our bergads isoform mattress a little over 3 years ago. It was great up until my wife started having some back pain that she never had before. Then a while later I noticed I was waking with lower back pain. We knew that the mattress was softer on the sides that we slept on and that is felt as though there was a dip on either side. We switched to sleeping on the bed in the spare room and the back pain was immediately gone.
Bergads claims that the breakdown of the foam is normal wear and is not covered by their warranty. There is a perceptible dip on either side of the bed but not the 3/4 inch that is required to be a manufacturing defect.
We demonstrated to them the problem by placing a brick at different locations on the mattress and took pictures of the differing heights it sank to. In some placed it sank less than 1/8 inch in others it sank almost a whole inch. Effectively this mattress sleeps like a mattress with broken springs.
My parents have had a tempurpedic for 8 years and I feel no perceptible sag in it.
Pros: Can't think of any Cons: Way to soft, horrible customer service
I ordered a 4 inch mattress topper from them. I didn't like it because I sank so far down into it that is was like sleeping on the worst mattress of my life!! I then called the company to ask to send it back, since they advertise a 90day sleep trial and they wouldn't take it back. What a joke!!! I think I am going to take them to small claims court to get my money back since they advertise that you can return items, but you really can't. I am extremely dissatisfied and unhappy with the product and the service.
Tried another, went back to Isoform by phiarphly ,Jul 11 '08
Pros: Cool. Not too soft. Reasonably priced. Cons: Not too soft (if you like really soft mattresses)
We bought an Isoform mattress for one bed and were very pleased. We then bought a different brand for another bed because it was on sale. The other brand was too hot and less deforming than the Isoform, and we were quite unhappy with it. We went to a lot of trouble to return it, and then bought a second Isoform. Now we're happy. It really is an excellent mattress, and our experience with the company has been completely positive.
Great mattress for 2 years only by jinjo ,Jan 06 '08
Pros: Very comfortable when i first bought the mattress.Customer service great when selling the mattress. Cons: After 2 years foam started to crack.Merchant did not honor warranty.Put on hold forever.
The mattress was good for about 2 years after that it started to develop massive cracks in the foam.I called customer service.
They said to sent pictures of the mattress which I did.Everytime i called they would put me on hold forever. They never honored the 10 year warranty they promised.Because it was an expensive mattress i had to overlay it with a 3 inch isofoam pad from sinking into the cracks.
Pros: feels nice, cheap, doesn't retain too much heat. Cons: smells really bad for the first 3 days. Takes getting use to (first night sucks)
After reading many reviews I decided to buy the isoform Opulence Bed and boxspring. I was worried because I have tested many foam beds and everyone but the temperpedic bed was terrible. After what seemed like forever (ordered between Christmas and New Years) I finally received it. The bed was better than all others I have tried and personally worked better for me than the temperpedic I tested. I ordered the Opulence because it was more firm that others but isn't too firm. I get really hot at night and was worried about a soft foam bed retaining body heat. I have had it a week and so far that has not been a problem. I like the bed and you can not beat the price.
Pros: Supportive mattress
Does not sag in the middle or ends Cons: Extremely firm - you might wake up sore
Only one sided - no flip
I bought this mattress in April 2005. I strongly considered returning it because it's so firm that I was waking up with pressure sores. I'm 6'2", 185 lbs with an athletic build. I decided to try this mattress because of my herniated disk at L5-S1. My previous mattress was on the soft side, had begun to sag in the middle and I was waking up with severe back pain on a frequent basis. Anyway, I decided to work with this mattress because the temperpedic mattress cost around 3 times more, and I tried them out at the nearby Relax the Back store, and did not find them to be much more comfortable. Long story short, I went to overstock.com and bought 3 items that made this bed comfortable enough to sleep on: a urathene mattress topper, a feather down mattress topper, and a mattress cover. It took these 3 items to make this rock hard mattress comfortable enough to sleep on, while still having the support I need for my back.
Pros: Good quality BUT TOO FIRM Cons: Poor customer communications /poor attitude
Way firmer than competing name brand - a bit too firm but that is a subjective call for most - but I found the pillow to be almost rigid. Nice quality but just too firm.
Shipping was mishandled and item was shipped to wrong address but confusion ensued between the shipping address and the billing address. They offered so solutions and were generally less than helpful after they shipped to billing address 400 miles away.
