Pros: No Gasoline Fumes, very Quiet, Quick-Adjust cutting height Cons: Battery Life limited to smaller yards.
I had moved into a typical home in Tampa, Florida about 5 months ago. I currently did not own any lawnmower and was dreading having to go to Home Depot or Lowe's to buy a gas-powered lawnmower. I really had it was the mess of buying gasoline and...
Pros: Starts easily, requires no special treatment after a winter of idleness Cons: No self-propelled model available; collapsible handle could work better
This is my second season of using this mower, and when I tried to start it after a winter of layoff, it promptly fired up. This was a pleasant difference from having to get a gasoline mower serviced at the beginning of mowing season. After several...
Pros: Low maintenance, doesn't pollute the neighborhood, quiet Cons: poor battery longevity, expensive, narrow cutting width, inconvenient customer service
[See 6/25/06 update below] My low-end Sears mulching mower died after 10 years, and having trouble finding someone other than Sears willing to service it, I decided it might make sense to replace it. I read Consumer Reports, looking for the most ...
Pros: No gas, no oil, no cord, no hassle. Cons: No power.
Two-stroke gasoline engines are one of the dirtiest sources of air pollution, and in progressive Davis, CA, where I live, many people use rechargeable electric mowers. My own choice to purchase this mower was also influenced by the fact that I'm not...
Pros: Instant starting, quiet, no gas/oil. Cons: Not as effective as gas mowers for high or damp grass.
Initial Clarification: Epinions mistakenly left a zero off the end of the model number for this mower. It is actually a CMM1000. (I just confirmed this from my owner's manual)
Now for the review:
This electric/cordless lawn mower is an...
Pros: No more gasoline mower hassles Cons: Battery replacement every 4-5 years
I've owned one of the these for some 5 years now and like it. I've got a small carpet grass yard and it cuts well, even in high grass times. Due to it's light weight, it pushes easy so I get some good exercise without breathing too hard. Since my yard ...
Pros: Decent enough cut, no gas, oil, fumes, and a lot less noise. Cons: Heavy, wetter grass requires two passes, vacuum weaker than gas mower.
After seeing this in my local hardware store, I researched the product here! Though I was at first hesitant due to some of the negative reviews, I sold my gas mower and ordered this one. My daughter likes the ease of use, we like the cleaner ...
Pros: quiet. envirofriendly. Cons: eventually, it is quiet and envirofriendly in a REALLY BAD sorta way! pricey. heavy.
I also had high hopes for this mower, and was not too concerned about durability, as my yard is very small (about 2500sqft of actual lawn). My concern started when the mower needed a new motor in warranty... obviously would have been expensive out of ...
Pros: cordless and no gasoline... what more is there to say. Cons: limited battery life (perhaps 3 or 4 seasons)
I have used this mower for 3 full years now and it has worked very well with a few forgivable exceptions. We have about 40' by 100' worth of grass and only recently has it not cut the entire property on one charge. The battery would have probably ...
Pros: Quiet, easy to use, doesn't pollute, no maintenance, Great height adjustment. Cons: None. I'm delighted with the thing.
I've had the CMM1000 for a year and have had no problems. My lot is small, about 1/8 acre. Live in Seattle so often mow the grass when it's wet. I'd been worried about the mower having the power to cut wet grass but have never had a problem, even ...
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this product! by mary7570 ,May 12 '04
Pros: Ease in starting; no gasoline messes; one-touch, lawn height adjustment Cons: Lacks self-propelling feature; feels less powerful but I haven't seem it perform that way --
Granted, I've only used it 3 times, but the fact that I don't have to mess around with getting gas, filling the mower with it and having it spill all over, is in itself enough to warrant buying this mower. Factor in that I still have an intact shoulder (from not having to yank the pull cord a bizillion times -- and then flooding it) is an added plus! It's a bit pricey but if I can get 3 summers worth of use out of it (and I'm sure I'll get much more than that!) it will have more than paid for itself (compared to my hiring someone to cut my lawn). Reliability and longevity is going to be the true test . . . I had been using a self-propelled mower so I notice the difference in a push type -- but I wouldn't go so far to say that I hate, let alone, dislike that quality.
Pros: No gas fumes. Wide cut (for a cordless) Cons: Noisy, poor performance in high grass, heavy.
I bought this mower back in 1999 after I got tired of patching and untangling the cord in my old corded mower. Our lawn is about 1/5 of an acre and in good conditions the entire lawn can be cut on a single charge. If the lawn is damp or the grass has gone 3 or more weeks without a mow then the amount of cutting is significantly reduced and the chute to the clipping catcher gets clogged easily.
After 6 years the battery doesn't hold a charge very well (expected) and the foam handle cover has slid down to the sides of the handle and disintegrated (not expected). The deck cover is still good, the wheels are fine, the blade is OK (needs sharpening again - expected).
I'm thinking of replacing the entire mower, even though getting the batteries replaced and the blade re-sharpened would probably be cheaper. I just never really liked the mower that much. It was heavy, surprisingly noisy, and only worked well in perfect conditions.
Pros: Easy to use and adjust Cons: My guess is yard should be less than .5 acre
We bought ours in 1998, it may finally be time to replace, performance was down last season, I replaced both batteries from battery warehouse, performance was improved, but mowed on 4-12-05 and it is showing its age. It may be as simple as a brush replacement, I need to look into it farther.
In short, this machine has been great, mulching and bagging great, it used to cut our .25acre lot twice on a charge. Cut quality was excellent, as long as the blade was kept sharp. Deck worked well and cleaned easily. May replace with the same model.
