Pros: Works well including the feed. Cons: The line doesn't seem to come out soon enough or long enough. It is acceptable.
I went and purchased another trimmer edger. I haven't had a lot of luck with many of them. This time I picked up the B&D Grass Hog from the Home Depot in town. It was an inexpensive model but I was hoping for Champagne results. Some Features ...

Pros: You get what you pay for. Powerful as a gas model? Cons: Safety button anyone? You get what you pay for.
If you are reading this review, you are likely trying to get a quick synopsis of the GH700 Black and Decker trimmer (which we will refer to as “weed whacker”). You most likely want to know whether or not it does what the box claims it ...

Pros: * Price
Cons: * Automatic feed doesn't work
I owned two Black & Decker GH700s and both were problematic. The first Black & Decker GH700 I owned had problems after only a few months. The two latches that held on the spool cover became weak and the spool would fall off. We got so ...

thumbs down
by steveohi ,Jul 07 '08
Pros: light weight Cons: auto line feed didnt feed consistantly. also started jamming.
i previously had a grasshog and it lasted 7 yrs and did a great job on my 1/4 acre yard. i replaced it with the gh700 expecting the same performance. the gh700 has auto line feed. which works very poorly. when the line finally extended, it did a pretty good job. this model did not have the power of my previously grasshog to do the edging. i've had the gh700 less than a month and have used it 2 weekends. the line has started jamming constantly.
not recommended. under any circumstances.

Poor Feeder Makes Dangerous Trimmer
by ouch_35227 ,Jul 26 '08
Pros: Powerful motor. Cons: Wear ear plugs. Dangerous spool feeder.
The automatic spool feeder is really bad. The trimmer is supposed to trim 14 inches, but the string wore down to about 6-8 inches instantly and didn't advance for about 15 minutes. Then the spool fed unexpectedly while I was trimming near my fence, and fed out about 3' of wire. Was enough length to slice my leg open. It appears the safety blade never caught the excess wire, because there is still a 28" or so length of wire dangling from the head. I'm returning this one to the store as soon as my leg stops bleeding.
Overall a really bad experience in about 15 total minutes of use. The motor seems really powerful for an electric trimmer. I think with a better spool feeder this would be an excellent tool. However, that random string advance and faulty safety blade seems too dangerous a combination to use this trimmer ever again.

Pros: Cannot think of any. Cons: Shrill sounding motor. Louder than the GH 600.
I returned one under warranty because it did not automatic feed. Still on the original spool of string. B & D sent another one and does is the same, will not automatically feed the string (double line spool). I may change brands or find another GH 600. I had a GH 600 for over 4 yrs before it quit.
