Pros: Grinds a large amount all at once. Cons: VERY messy and noisy.
My husband and I are picky about our coffee. We buy gourmet whole beans and grind them for "fresh as can be" coffee. When we saw the Black & Decker Smart Grind coffee grinder at Christmas time, we thought it looked like a wonderful idea! How ...
Pros: Reasonable price, easy to use, many features, burr type grinder Cons: No cleaning brush, noisy, lots of plastic
Mostly I use canned coffee here at home but every now and then I like to use whole beans and try something different, mostly on weekends or after a nice dinner. To me the idea of buying whole beans and then grinding them at the store is defeating the...
Pros: easy to determine # of cups to grind Cons: messy, plastic parts break easily.
The plastic container generates static electricity. When the lid is removed, the ground coffee spews everywhere. Durability is lousy, the plastic bean holder cracked after 2 months of use. That is why we are at this site looking for a replacement...
Pros: Cheap and works well. Cons: Messy and fragile.
As everyone else has noted, this grinder can get pretty messy, and some of the plastic is fragile. I've found that it's not particularly messy if you give the grounds-container a few good taps on the top before removing. Static is an issue with any ...
Pros: Makes dramatically better coffee than comparably priced blade grinders.
A burr grinder for about $30. Cons: Sounds like a 747 turbine.
Even the finest setting is pretty course.
The Black & Decker Smart Grind Deluxe is an economy version of a burr style bean mill priced to compete with flat blade style coffee grinders (which average in price at about $20.)
Does it mill fine enough to make the espresso it claims it...
Pros: Great concept Cons: Terrible design, very messy, impractical for daily use, difficult to clean
I am the VP of R&D for a consumer product company. I develop products for a living. This product is a great concept that was just absolutely botched in the design. The idea of having a hopper full of beans with the ability to grind enough for a pot ...
Pros: Easy to put the beans in and to measure amount. Cons: Very messy which eventualy leads to its demise.
I bought this grinder to replace a much used blade grinder. It was only $15 and $5 more than getting the same one again. That and the ability to adjust the grind size I couldn't resist. Before too long however;Just how many things can I list for ...
Pros: Inexpensive burr grinder. It does actually grind the beans. Cons: Unbelievable mess, mostly from static electricity. Actually soots coffee dust around the kitchen.
I'm unwilling to pay $100 or more for a burr grinder, because I don't think it will improve my coffee drinking experience or life that much. I paid $100 or so (on sale) for my Starbucks Barrista Aroma Grande coffee maker, so I'm not cheap about my ...
Pros: Inexpensive for a burr grinder Cons: Poor quality and design
This grinder is no better than a blade grinder. It will grind adequately for drip coffee, but does not grind anywhere near fine enough for espresso. B&D says it will produce a Turkish grind--this is nonsense.
Pros: It was a gift I paid nothing for it. Cons: This product can't do what it was made for
This grinder lasted less than two weeks. The beans did not fall down into the grinder without tapping on it because the slots in the bean container are to small. The chute where the grounds fly out of into the ground container clogs up every other time I used it. The static electricity build up on the grounds made emptying the container difficult. Finally, plastic tabs on the bottom of the removable bean container broke off after about 6 uses.
The Braun that was being replaced is back in duty until another grinder is bought . The engineers at Black & Decker should be ashamed of themselves making such a poor product.
