Pros: It works Cons: The digital heat setting has to be increased before it can be decreased.
WHY Early December, our last iron (a Sunbeam)started leaking and spitting so it was time for a replacement. I don't know if it's the cause or effect, but we never invest much money in the irons we buy, because we never seem to hold on to one too ...
Pros: digital display with fabric settings. Very good ironing. Gets quite hot. Cons: A little more difficult to use.
Bought my better half a new digital clothes iron by Black and Decker, called the Digital Advantage.I bought this iron for only $12 at a close-out section of a local store. It is refurbished by the factory and sold in a plain box with ...
Pros: Features, performance Cons: Just another example of retail junk - hazardous, at that
My wife did research and shopped around, looking for a good quality iron. Black & Decker is (was) a good name for household appliances, and this iron has the features we wanted, so we bought it. First off, the price was fair, and the features were ...
Pros: 10minute Auto-off vertical. Beeps when at temperature and auto-off. Large opening for water. Cons: 10 minute shutdown when immobile horizontally&tipped over. Beep is too quiet to be useful.
Sept 7, 2007 I purchased the B&D D2020 from Target for $40, and promptly returned it the next day. I have had a B&D iron for over 10 years and it worked very well all this time, it gave me a healthy beep that I could hear from the other room when the ...
Pros: Quick, accurate, no guesswork Cons: Not reliable, performance and lifetime poor in new product
I purchased two of these irons in the last two years - one in 2006 and one in January 2007 both for regular, typical household use. I purchased the digital edition because a relative had one and there are clear digital settings per type of clothing. The ...
Pros: It worked okay when it worked. Cons: Unreliable, potential fire hazard
I bought two Black and Decker D2020 irons in June, one for myself and one for my step-daughter, who was getting married. I had read some positive reviews on line, and it sounded like it was reliable and easy to use. It worked fine at first, and I ...
Pros: Good while it worked Cons: Died after 6 hours use
B&D calls this a digital advantage iron. I have renamed it a B&D digital dis-advantage iron. After having previously used a no-name basic iron for many years which finally broke when it fell off the ironing board I decided to "get with it" and buy a ...
Pros: Cover on water fill opening Cons: Takes a long time to empty the water.
I purchased this iron after my 100 dollar plus Rowenta died in the middle of ironing. It lasted only 3 years. Pretty sad for a 100 dollar iron. I did some research on the Internet plus a popular consumer magazine for the best iron and this one kept coming up. I took a ride to my local Bed Bath and Beyond after calling them and confirming that they had one in stock. When I got home I immediately plugged it in and gave it a test on one of my cotton shirts. It glided easily across the shirt plus the steam was plentiful. It's a great iron for the price and I highly recommend it.
Pros: Digital was precise, steam was good. Cons: Short service life, no service from B&D, product is dangerous (read other reviews as well)
This iron was chosen to replace an old Sunbeam that provided years of service. After 6 months, this iron failed (digital control indicated 8 and yet it only was suppose to go to 7). This happened after the lights flickered and the stereo shut off. The iron got so hot that it burned the cover on the ironing board. Unplugged it and then it would not heat up again after letting it cool down. BIG WASTE OF MONEY and potentially hazardous.
Pros: It was good while it lasted. Cons: It didn't last long enough.
After much research & recommended reviews I elected to purchase the B&D 2020 in December 2006, my 1st B&D iron. I really liked it, using it on average 4-5 hours per month. After only 18 months it suddenly went "bezerk". After ironing a few minutes it suddenly started beeping rapidly. I laid the iron on the sole to read the display & it scorched a black imprint on my ironing board cover. Obviously it had greatly overheated. This was the shortest lived iron I've ever owned.
Pros: quick to heat up, works great Cons: heavy (con for some)
I registered for this iron when we got married last summer. I chose this one because it was a Consumer Reports best buy. I have been very pleased with its performance. It heats up quickly, glides well, and presses wrinkles well. I use the steam burst feature all the time--works great for those stubborn spots. It is fairly heavy, which I like, but others may not.
Pros: light and heated up quickly Cons: after ironing 3 shirts, it overheated and burned through cover on board
I purchased this iron as an upgrade and gift to myself. The iron worked very well for 3 months. While ironing shirts and with no other warning the iron started beeping and it heated up to a temperature that burned right through the ironing board cover, it took over 1 1/2 hours to cool down after unplugging it. Black & Decker did replace it but with a different model(D2030) and 2 months later I am having trouble getting that one to stay at a constant temperature long enough to iron a shirt. I have not been happy with these 2 digital irons.
