Pros: Looks nice, heats AND cools, lots of safety features, portable
Cons: Digital temp display acting wacky, not the best choice as a fan
A few months ago my husband bought the Black & Decker Heater Fan BDHF200 to use in his small shop area, to heat in cooler months, and to use in the fan only mode for summer. I wanted to give the Black & Decker Heater Fan a try in my offic ...

Pros: great features, heats/cools well, easy to use and move around Cons: none
I bought this Black and Decker Heater Fan last winter. I am a very hot-natured person therefore, I don't like to have our over-all heater set too high. This makes it a bit cool for bath time, so I found this heater fan at Walmart and ...

Pros: Small, portable; powerful heating and very adjustable; lots of safety features Cons: Fan not very powerful; not strong enough for very large rooms
I was looking for a small, inexpensive heater to keep my bedroom a bit warmer than the rest of my house, to counteract the 'getting out of bed freezes' and because typing on my computer (which is in my bedroom) tends to freeze my fingers. I tend to keep ...

PERFECT LITTLE HEATER
by mandyandmatt ,Jan 21 '04
Pros: besides being very warm it is small and looks nice Cons: I have nothing bad to say about it
I am usually very cold so I use this heater to stay warm when I watch TV, study, or use the computer. It is really strong which i like but you can control the heat and the speed of the fan. It also has the room temp. displayed on the top which is kind of nice. It is very safe so I never worry about leaving it on or having the dogs around it (they enjoy it too).

Absolutely terrible product
by computer_guru ,Jan 04 '04
Pros: Heater works well... just don't reset that plug very often. Cons: AST plug will fail eventually because of that thin piece of plastic it depends on.
I had this product less than 2 weeks before it died. Unfortunately, I lost the receipt so couldn't return it to the store i purchased it from. And checking with B&D, they wouldn't honor the warranty without that receipt.
Knowing this, I decided to find out why this heater died so early... This heater has a plug with AST technology for safety purposes. This is what caused my problems. The reset button on this plug has a tiny piece f plastic sticking out of its rear side that is about the thickness of a paper clip. This piece of plastic presses a metal rod to enable the plug, and also flexes when pressed so it can lock in place with some notches on the thin piece of plastic.
Unfortunately, I diligently followed the instructions and tested the plug prior to every use. And that caused that thin piece of plastic to break. As a result, the AST plug cannot be activated, and the whole heater is useless; all because of a hair thin piece of plastic.
B&D just uses too many cheap parts for my satisfaction. I'll never by anything manufactured by them again.

Black & Decker Heater Fan BDHF200
by yadtbr ,Dec 14 '03
Pros: Looks good & portable. Cons: Berely lasted two seasons then broke. I consider that extremely poor quality.
Had the model just prior to this one. They look identical except for the addition of some new temperature control window at the top. Lasted two seasons of moderate use (at best). I have other electric heaters that still work after 20 years. Then it just quit. The power light refuses to go on as if there is some failed power supply mechanism that gave up. Needless to say I think it is a piece of Chinese made garbage. Will never purchase any appliance made by these people again.
