Pros: Lightweight, quiet, powerful Cons: Don't like to get near water
I've wanted to try an electric mower for several years. My gas mower does not mulch, and it is heavier than I care for when used on some slopes in my back yard. What most often stopped me in the past was the size of my back yard; a 100' cord won't ...
Pros: Well thought out safety features
Easy to use (for sons); easy cord management Cons: Slows a little bit in thick grass but still powerful
A bit louder than expected
I have had gas lawnmowers since we moved into our house 15 years ago. I started with a used 3 hp that didn't last long; bought a new 3.5 hp then moved to a used 4 hp mower to get mulching capability. Each increment in power made it easier to cut the...
Pros: Light weight, Easy to set up and use. Cons: Needs an electric cord, could use just a bit more power.
When we moved into a new home (our first other than apartments) we found ourselves with a Lawn and the need to keep it looking nice. I've never much liked gas mowers and so we decided to look at electric ones.
Pros: Wonderful Flip Handle, Low Maintanence, Much More Quiet, Efficient, and Environmentally Friendly Than Gas Cons: Limited Range And Movement Based On Cord Requirements
When the need to purchase my first lawnmower arrived, I contemplated long and hard whether or not to purchase a standard gas mower or one of those new electric lawnmowers that are starting to catch on. After weighing all the options, I decided that an ...
Pros: lightweight - no starting hassles Cons: underdesigned underpowered unreliable
We have a small Bermuda lawn area - 800 square feet. We purchased this product because of the obvious issues with gasoline powered mowers, and because we thought that with such a small area, the problems inherent with electric mowers would be...
Pros: lightweight plastic deck (no rusting!), quick start/stop, fliphandle switch (convenient), excellent mulching, fun to drive Cons: fliphandle switch (need to learn), managing electric cord.
Flip-handle subject to weld failure.
After 15 years of loyal service, my old B&D electric gave up the ghost. First the handle shorted out (I repaired it), the following week, the handle ripped completely out of the deck (it had rusted through). So...I am forced to need a new mower. Tried ...
Pros: Lightweight. Instant start every time. Easy to maintain. Good mulching action on leaves. Cons: Handle locking bracket caused power cable wear. No motor drive to wheels. Watch power cord.
I purchased this lawn mower last year and have used it approximately 15 times. Considering the pros and the cons, it does what it is supposed to do. But it is not for everyone. As for the pros, the first thing I liked about this lawn mower is the ...
Pros: No gasoline! My wife likes the flip handle, but I never use it myself. Cons: Overheats, catching on fire. Falls apart with normal use. Side bag is awkward.
I bought my Lawn Hog electric mower 10 months ago. Last week, it overheated. The electrical assembly where the power cord plugs in had a loose connection. It grew so hot that it melted the plastic, caught on fire, severely burned my gardener's hand ...
Pros: Quiet and lightweight enough to hang on a garage wall. Cons: finding the custom blade (MB 75)
I found this machine in the garbage and repaired the electric switch. Then I used it - liked it - then wondered why anyone would just throw it in the garbage.
Everything was going well until I needed to replace the (MB 75) blade which I can not find except on the internet. I think I should be able to go to "Home Depot" and get a blade when I'm in the mood (they sell every other blade).
I get a little wound-up when simple things become complex - finding a blade should be as simple as finding weedeater string. So, this one problem is enough for me to reduce my rating from 5-stars to 3-stars.
Great Concept, Disappointing Performance by tahitiblue ,Sep 04 '05
Pros: Quiet, you don't have to store smelly gasoline in your garage. Eco friendly and quiet. Cons: Falls apart. Small rocks and large twigs literally trashed my unit.
I really wanted to love this mower, I thought with no engine maintenance it would be a joy to own and last forever. I got three uses out of mine, and had to repair it three times. I finally returned it for a more durable gas unit.
The main point of failure was the plastic fan that sits behind the blade. Yes they actually designed it to have a plastic bladed fan spinning right behind the blade. Small rocks and sticks quickly sheared all the blades off making causing the motor to stall consistently. The first time I brought the sheared fan into the Black and Decker parts center the counter girl didn't even have to look up the part number, she said she sells a lot of the replacement fans. I sheared the replacement and two others before I finally gave up on it.
I had flat golf course fairway for a lawn I'm sure this mower would do a fine job, but even a few rocks were too much of an obstacle for my unit.
